Hi Y'all!!!!
Another kookie day on tap here......so I checked in to skim the posts and say hello. I'll be back later......and will address everyone then. Have a great day! Ginny |
Howdy :)
OK, so I'm not dead - actually, I never even got started. I went to measure the kids new play area (yet to be built) and it is going to take up so much room that I'm having to re-do my original landscape plan. I had planned to do large corner retaining walls (4) with edgers between each so it would have a tiered effect; but because the play area will end up practically being in the center of the yard this way, I'm just gonna do retaining walls all the way around the fence. They'll probably be kinda wavy rather than perfectly parallel to the fence; but at least this way the play area can be backed into a corner. I dunno, I get so annoyed with myself because it seems that I have SO many ideas I have a hard time deciding what I really want. Then, once I finally do have a plan I have to modify it. Roar! Anyway, did anyone watch Oprah today? Dr. Phil was on talking about weight issues. He's wanting everyone to "get real" and ask ourselves why we eat what we do. My answer to that is "because I'm hungry :s: ". But seriously, he is right about the fact that WE choose what goes into our bodies - no one else. Losing weight really needs to be a lifestyle change, which for me in particular is SO hard because I"m a real picky eater. I don't like a lot of foods that are good for me and it is my downfall. Eating healthy is really a challenge that I will struggle with my entire life. I guess that's why I won't try diets - I just know that I won't stick them out. My thought process is that if I train myself to workout 5-6 times/week, I will begin to appreciate and respect my body more so that I don't want to eat as much of the unhealthy foods - I'll be more consciencous (sp? - yikes!) about what I eat and working out will just be tatooed in my brain. So that's my thought process (warped as it may be). Today's show was the first in a 2 part series, the second installment will be on next Tues. So for what it's worth... Well, gotta go get lunch for the angels and workout - yeah! Have a great day ladies and think twice before putting that cookie in your mouth - you make the choice! See ya :p |
Good Early Morning, Everyone!
I haven't had a chance to go to bed yet. I went to a stamping party with dd tonight & made 2 cards. I made them both while dd was outside playing with the other girls. When I returned home it was time to do a few loads of wash & iron my dh clothes for another business trip. I'm still waiting for one set of clothes to get dry & hopefully I won't have to iron them at all. We had a bad Thunder Storm last night/early this a.m. & unfortunately, my monitor went out too! :( I decided to take the chance & use dh's before he takes it out of town with him. So...if you don't hear from me for a few days, this is why. Welcome back, Kerrie! I've really missed you. And yes-I was the one that sent you the PM a few months back! For all the newbies here: Kerrie was a regular poster here, but took several months off & is just returning now. Kerrie: Don't feel bad about your weight gain-It happens to the best of us! Would you like to join us in our 5# challenge? There's several weeks left of it & it will end on June 30th. Sassiepie: I was able to watch Oprah today. I'm glad that I watched the whole thing because I thought that I taped the whole hour & found out later on that only the first 10 min. recorded. Oh well, I pretty much remembered everything. I could relate to the part of making yourself accountable. I was stuck on the Turtle Sundaes a few weeks back & now I have to deal with the scale going up again! Ginny: Hang in there, hun-things will gradually slow down for a bit. Sheila: Congratulations on the scale going back down for you! Just hang in there & you will be rewarded! Shanni: Don't worry about getting Mel & I mixed up. With all the gals we have posting now, it's sometimes hard to keep us all straight! I hope your DH enjoys his new job. Just what does his job consist of if I may ask? I can't remember, was he the one that worked for his db & then got let go because he missed too much work while being sick? Misty: FYI on Paxil-I've never taken this before, but know a few who have, but unfortunately, they were combining meds & can't help you out much on this. Oh!, by the way....I forgot to take my meds tonight, so thanks for the reminder! I see we're both in the same ballpark when it comes to our pc's, huh? Mel: Sorry to hear about your leg. Hopefully you will be back to your old self in no time! I hurt my pinky last night pretty bad. Sliced it open quite badly & probably could of used stitches, so I'm keeping the band aid wrapped around pretty tightly. It's kind of awkward to type, but I'm managing. (It hasn't stopped me from typing a long post, has it?) To someone's question about Spryng: She may not be back to posting until sometime in the early part of July. She's getting ready for a convention that she will be going to. Well gals, I'm getting really sleepy, so I'm going to turn in for the night/early a.m. Hopefully I'll get my monitor up & running in the next day or so, so that I won't miss you all. Good Night! |
Morning ladies!
Welcome back Kerrie! I'm Jen, aka Sassypie. I'm married almost 8 yrs (6/18), have 2 dds (6 and 4) and one pup. I'll be 30 in Jan and am trying to lose around 40# by then. I just found this site about a month ago and I'm so glad I did. I'm also glad to meet you and hope to get to know you soon :) I was looking at Kathy Smith's website last night (http://www.ivillage.com/diet/experts/kathysmith) and it has some interesting info on it. You can order videos, take quizzes about different subjects related to health and fitness and get tons of other misc. info. I found out I have an hourglass shape (how sexy:s:  ) and it also tells me which types of excersizes are beneficial for my shape - and which ones are not. I think of all the fitness gurus out there, she is the most realistic and easy to follow. Wow! Do I work for Kathy Smith or something? It sounds like I'm plugging her big time - lol! Seriously though, she is the one person who kicks my bum every time I do her workouts and I don't get bored either. I hope everyone's well and OP. I did pretty well yesterday until dinner and then had a small bowl of ice cream after dinner (peanut butter and fudge swirl!) I did give it serious thought and then decided to go for a small bowl instead of the humongous bowl that my dh had. Needless to say, it was good but not that good. So next time, I'll go for the sherbert instead. Sorry to hear about all the computer problems around here :( . We always turn off our pcs if there's a storm coming cause we have an old house and don't completely trust the wiring and surge protector. Unfortunately though, weather happens when it happens and the pc does sometimes get left on when we're not home. I hope you all get things up and running soon so you can check in often. Well ladies, that's it for me for now. I have to get out to the home improvement store to order my stones - I talked my new "plan" over with dh and we think (knock on wood) that this one'll work. Plus, I want to do a little window shopping/buying maybe? at the local shopping centers. Oldest dd has a t-ball game tonight and it's out of town so hopefully we won't get rained out like the last one. Do t-ball games get made up I wonder? Anyway, have a great day and stay stong! |
Hey Gang... I'm still here (barely!). Been way crazy here. Ds is done with school and raising holey heck around here with his baby brother! Dd still has til next Friday, then she's out, too, and the craziness begins!:dizzy:
Welcome to all the newcomers! So, I have a question for all you camping Mama's.... how is it with the kiddos? We are heading out for our first camping trip as a family in a couple of weeks. Dh and I camped extensively BK (before kids!) but we've yet to try it with the kiddos. Now that the baby is walking, we're going for it! We'll be tenting it... just bought a beautiful new 4-room tent, so everyone gets their own room. We have decided not to bring a porta crib for the baby. Once we get him to sleep in the sleeping bag, we can zip up his room so that he can't go anywhere. But, I'd love any good campfire recipes and activities you all could pass along. We are going to a campground on a lake, and bringing our canoe, so that in itself will keep us busy. Can't wait! OK, enough chit-chat... time to get real. My eating is still terrible. I gotta get a handle on this. I missed Oprah yesterday... think I could use a swift kick in the rear from Dr. Phil right now! I will be sure to catch it next week. I have yet to put anything in my mouth this morning, so I think I'll go down and make some wise choices for breakfast. OK, gotta run... babe's climbing on me! Hope everyone is doing well. I'll try to check back later.... |
Good morning!
Hello ladies,
I did it, I started WW yesterday! Today is my first day OP and I'm trying to make a menu for the week. My knee is feeling a little better too, as long as I don't put too much pressure on it. I'm glad everyone is making their way back in here. Hi Kerrie, I've only been here a few weeks, but I can see why you came back, this sure is a great bunch! Gemini, I think you'll really enjoy camping WK, have fun! Don't really have any recipes just the usual Smores? Sassy, I like Kathy Smith too, she is great! Jackie, sorry to hear about your PC woes. I hope you can get it fixed soon! We'll miss you! Don't worry about the mix up, Shanni, no big deal! I'm still trying to learn who's who! Hi Ginny and Sheila, sounds like y'all have been busy! Take care of you too! :) Kerrie, I used to take Paxil, but not CR? It was pretty mild, and it takes a couple of weeks to see and feel a difference. I didn't think I needed it until it was in my system good, then I realized that I did. If you if you have any question I might be able to answer, send a PM and I'll answer what I can. Take care! I hope I didn't miss anyone, if I did, Hi and sorry! Have a good healthy day! |
Good afternoon!
Gotta be quick today. Doing terrible again on eating better. And haven't excercised all week (or last:( ) . Jackie-- Yep, he's the one that was fired. My hubby's working at a plant that produces car parts now. He's a trimmer. He said it was really easy. He was hired through a temporary place. So it's only gonna last til the end of July. But, the plant is 'expanding their workforce.' So some of them may be staying. Hopefully they'll like him and he'll get hired on for good. Gotta go. --shanni |
I've been so negative lately, I thought I'd pop on for a minute and post something positive... good eating so far today! Breakfast was a bowl of Kashi with fresh blueberries, and lunch was pasta with zuchinni and chicken sausage in garlic and oil. Dinner on the road to work will be a healthy sandwich and fresh fruit.
Here's to small accomplishments....;) |
Good morning Moms!
All is well here, or as close as it gets anyway! My Ds was running fever, but is now feeling better, and my Knee is also doing a bit better. Did great with my eating yesterday, and I even found a bunch of recipes on the WW web site that sound good. So I went shopping for ingredients, now I'm ready to cook healthy! :^:
So how is everyone doing? Have a good day! |
Why do these things always happen to me?
Morning all
It's only 8:45am and I've already had a goofy day! Yesterday I went to the home improvement store to buy the retaining wall stones that I needed as well as some mulch that was on sale. I found out when I looked at my receipt (luckily in the car before I left and not at home which is 1/2 hr away) that they had ordered me the wrong type of mulch. So I went back in and got that straightened out but found out that my delivery would have to be postponed until the correct mulch was available. So ok no problem, they were going to call to make sure I was home before delivery and once everything was back in stock, I'd get it all at once - otherwise I'd have to pay 2 delivery charges and I didn't want to do that! So this am, my dh is poking my shoulder a little before 8am and tells me that the delivery truck is here and he needs to go to work so can I get up and take care of it? Well, naturally I was quite disoriented - it's am and I'm trying to remember what I even ordered and from where (I'm a night person ;) ). So I get up and tell the delivery guy that I was surprised to see him as I didn't think everything would be delivered so quickly and I thought there was gonna be some advanced delivery notification (cause I just had to say something) and he tells me that he has no notation of making a call. Yada, yada, yada, as he's taking stuff off the truck, I see the mulch and it doesn't look anything like what I thought I ordered. So now I'm thinking maybe I screwed up and ordered the wrong kind. I told the dguy not to unload it and let me call the store and compare numbers. Fotunately, I was able to talk with the same guy who placed my order yesterday and he confirmed that it was the wrong mulch that I had received. So now the wrong mulch has to go back and the right mulch needs to be delivered when it becomes available - and at no extra charge to me, of course - cause I'm not the one who messed up  Jeez! I didn't even want to get the mulch - it was my dh who kept making such a big deal about it and look at what a pain it was! You know, it seems that no matter how detailed and organized I am, there's always something that interferes with that. I try to cover my bases but it never fails that there is always something that happens. It makes me feel like I'm the one missing something or that I'm doing something wrong - even though I can't figure out what that something is. It just makes me frustrated sometimes. So enough of my ramblings and rantings. Have a nice day ladies. My day is sure to improve - the girls and I are going to make Father's Day crafts/cards today so that should be a lot of fun and a lot of mess, but mostly a lot of fun :) See yall later! |
Just a quick note... gotta bump this thread up... we're getting buried!
Good day yesterday... made a wonderful, low-fat lasagna last night. Leftovers for lunch today. :) Tonight is my night-on-the-town with dh for dinner and Riverdance... can't wait! I have a pretty navy suit to wear... a hand-me-down from my grandmother, who only wore it once. Just need shoes, so I'm off to the mall... Have a great day! :) |
Ok, so I say I'm back and then don't post! :o Thanks for the welcome back, everybody. Sassypie, sounds like a cool landscaping/kids' area project you're working on!
Kids are home for the summer and I'm having trouble getting on here (the computer) so far for some reason. I would LOVE to do a 5# challenge by June 30. I should be able to manage that. That would put me roughly where I was before I started gaining again a few months ago. I can't write more, sorry. I started this while I was waiting for the kids to get up here so we could head to the store and they're all ready! Have an OP day!!! |
Hi ladies
Just a quick post to say hi and hope all your dh's have a wonderful Father's Day this weekend. Not sure if the weather's going to cooperate here but my fingers are crossed. I know there have been a lot of pc problems lately and so it seems that there have not been many posts. Someone mentioned it before and I'll mention it again, checking posts is like waiting for your mail - you always hope there's going to be something new to read. For those gals whose pcs are thorns in the the side, good luck at getting them back up and running soon - you are all missed. Have a great weekend ladies and watch out for that potato salad! |
Howdy!
To some of you, it may seem like there's not too many that are posting here, but for me-I'm swamped! I log-off for a several days, and now I have to try & play catch up! Do I even bother, or do I just let you all know how I've been? Let's see....I weighed myself a few days ago & have lost all but 1/2 # from my lowest point of wt. since I started my plan the day after Easter. Whew!-I'm so relieved!! So-it's looks as though I only need to lose 2 more # to make the 5# challenge! (That is if you all let me use the weigh-in number that I was when we first started the new challenge.) Spryng is still gone & if I remember correctly, this was an accepted challenge. I had a weak moment yesterday & gave in to another naughty Turtle Sundae! I guess my burn out syndrome has kicked in & this is the way that I feed it! :o (I know, poor excuse-how about PMS?) I had a nasty day with my PMS the other evening & unfortunately, both the kids had a friend over for a sleep-over. I just about scratched everyone's eyes out! I woke up fine in the a.m. & I then apologized to everyone. To top things off-I'm screwed up on my meds again. I guess I need another wake up call from Ginny again! I tell you-the night of my PMS, nothing went right! One of the kids didn't like Sloppy Joe's, so I had one hamburger patty left, so I decided to fry it up. Unfortunately, as soon as the butter hit the frying pan & I plopped in the burger & our tempermental smoke alarm that is connected to the ADT Securites main panel went off! So...I then had to call the County dispatcher to inform that I had yet another false alarm! I guess ADT beat me to it & put up another flag to our county switch board to send the trucks, but thankfully my MIL called & informed me that the trucks were on their way, so-yet another call to cancel the trucks from coming! After everything seemed to be settled down again, I heard a rap on the door. The screen door was open & I yelled out-Now who's here?!! I thought that it was my dm, but someone yelled through the screen and said: "Oh!, it's only me-a deputy from the Sheriff's Dept. I guess I called in too many never-minds to the switch board & they wanted to make sure that everything was alright. How embarrassing! :o Once we were done with dinner, it was off for a night of roller skating. Unfortunately-during the last song for the night.... a kid tripped my dd & I. We both fell & my dd hit her head & has a slight bump. I kept an eye on it & it seems to be just a minor injury. For me-it's another story in itself! I was the less fortunate one & I may have fractured my thumb-wrist area of my left hand. I at first thought that I just bruised it, but now it's starting to really bother me. What do all you nurses think about this? I've been too busy to go to the doc & today is my dd's Dance Recital, so yet another day rushing around. I'm excited to see it though because they really put on a show & open it up to the public to see. My dd's group is dancing to the song from Annie called: "It's A Hard Knock's Life". (How appropriate for me, huh?) Well gals, I'm sorry I've babbled on & on. My insomnia has wore off & I'm going back to bed. I'll try & personally address you all later on after the show. C-U all later! |
Hello everyone!!
Jackie sounds like you had a rough day!! I got on the scale yesterday and sadly :( it hasn't moved. I'm still at a steady 200. I haven't been excercising. :( I know I should but my it's been hard with my husbands new job. I don't have a sitter and he's got my car most of the day now. I have the perfect oppurtunity to do this too!! We have and excercise room here and a walkng trail goes right behind my apartments! I need to call up my walking buddy I guess?!? :^: --shanni  |
