Yesterday, an electrician was at my neighbors house, working on something and the power went off for a couple seconds. this morning, i get up to weigh on my wii board and Wii machine will not come on at all. I dont have 249.00 to buy another Wii, i am so upset. it was plugged into a surge protector but i guess that wasnt enough

I will preface this comment by saying that I do not own a Wii (though my parents do, so I've used one), so take this for whatever it's worth:

I poked around a couple online forums and the consensus seems to be that after a power surge this happens to a lot of people. Unplug the Wii at both ends (i.e. unplug it from the power strip and the Wii itself) and leave it unplugged for about half an hour. Then plug it back in and you should get power again. If not, you have to call Nintendo's customer support, but the unplugging trick has worked for a lot of people.

Good luck!

We have wii, and have had a similar problem. Resetting it like thistoo said worked for us! If not call support, I have had to send my wii for repair (awful grinding noises, the disk player went...a common problem unfortunately) and within a week turnaround we had it fixed, they are awesome.

Yes, don't panic! That has happened to me a LOT when I lose power and unplugging the Wii at both ends and waiting 30 minutes has always fixed it.

Yes I was going to say to try that out! Don't just toss it and get a new one- at least call Nintendo to see what's up. When my husband's XBOX stopped working (we hadn't even had it for one year) we called Microsoft and sent it in and we ended up getting a new one cuz they couldn't fix it!

My friend got an XBOX 360 for $50 when they FIRST came out cuz some guy who bought one after a month it stopped working and he gave it to my friend for $50. He called microsoft and they fixed it for FREE! If that guy had just called he would have saved himself a ton of money!

Don't just give up- exhaust all the other options FIRST
