Maggie: Too bad you live so far away. I have friends who have 3 or 4 Old English's who are about a year old. They're great dogs. I'd be willing to bet if you did a search you could find a rescue Assn. for OES's and could find one. Try going to the Dachshund Rescue League of America sight. They have a list of other rescue groups by breed, and others as well. I really like the idea of giving a rescued dog a home rather than going to a breeder, altho i've done that too. I think I may need to move to the country My friends all think I'm nuts. Since I don't have any grandchildren, what's a person to do? My son's 36 and shows no signs of getting serious, which is probably a good thing, as he'll no doubt be collecting Social Security before he pays off his student loans!
Tomorrow night is WW, and I don't want to go! A dear friend has been in the hospital with a still undiagnosed disease, and my way of coping is to stuff my fat face. She's been to Duke, UVA, and the Diagnostic Clinic at the Greenbrier Hotel, and nobody can figure out what's going on. They've ruled out lung cancer, heart disease, and osteoporosis, so that's the good news. In the meantime, she just keeps getting weaker. I'd best drink a ton of water before noon and walk all morning If I were Oprah and had a chef...........

Maggie,
I just checked out the webpage for the nationwide dog rescue league, and there was a listing there for English Sheepdogs. There's hope

Talking Tuesday

GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS

COOKIE thanks for starting a new page. YES you did it. Hope you are having a nice day with your program.

BUBBLES thanks for the 411 on the ESD's. I don't want one just yet for we are in too small an area to have one at the present. Wouldn't be fair to the pup. I just was thinking how fun it would be to have one sitting shotgun in my convertable with it's beautiful fur being ruffled in the breeze as I tool down the highway. People would look at the dog and not at me.

I am starting a geat day today. Feeling fine. Life is good.

Default weigh in

I gained .2 lbs tonight. I suppose it could have been worse, as a camp friend took me out for lunch. I had pina colada yogurt mixed with fresh cantaloupe for breakfast, and it was really tasty.
Stuck with me too.
What's up with the earthquake? Guess I'll have to check CNN or the Weather Channel.
Did anyone see Dr. Phil on Oprah today? I was sick that I had to leave for my WW mtg. I think a friend taped it for me...........she tried, anyway. Bet he was interesting.
Have a great rest of the week

Ohhhhh...Graybubs...we had an earthquake...here in CA or somewhere else? Guess I should watch the news once in a while! Your breakfast sounded yummy!! I don't think you can go wrong with a Pina Colada ANYTHING! Sorry about the .2 weight gain...but that could just be water...it will go back down soon!

Maggie: You must have been "floating around me" today...3 different times I went to eat something I shouldn't and a picture of you minus 51+ pounds flashed in my mind! So Thanks!! I stayed OP all day and will reap the benefits...soon I hope!!

Tomorrow my friend and I are going to see The Ya Ya Sisterhood...the guys are going to go to some Tool Sale! I think we got the better of the deal!

Everyone have a great Wednesday!!

BUBBLES sorry about that gain but don't get discoruaged. I think it more important to look at a whole month instead of week by week for our bodies fluctuate so much with water and heat, etc. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't miss a weekly weigh in on purpose because that helps keep my FOCUS. No I don't watch TV at all so I didn't catch her show. In fact I never watched her when I did watch TV. Mostly just watched Fox news channel and baseball. And that was out of hundreds of satelite channels we could have been watching.

COOKIE I like the idea of my being able to float. Glad I was able to be of help to you today! Sounds to me that you did get the better end of the deal but maybe the fellas think the same because you know how men are around tools. Surely your good choices will make a difference.

Thanks for the support and encouragement. Maggie, I know you got the better end of the deal! Can you imagine anything worse than going to a tool sale? Maybe being placed in a snake pit. Looks like a warm one here today.........going to close up the house and hope I don't have to turn on the AC.
Happy day to you all.

Hi all,

Sorry I haven't posted since your warm welcome to your group. I have a crazy job!

But, I am happy to report that I am down 9 pounds, and walking a mile and a half each day.

GOOD EVENING MAGNOLIAS
On the eve of the First Day of Summer I want to wish each and every Magnolia a great, happy, healthy and especially a losing Summer.
It is warm but I am enjoying the weather after all that cold and rain in early June.

MAGGIE...You are my inspiration and although I am not losing at your rate I think I may be down 1/2 # this week...will know for sure on Sunday. That's the day I have made my weigh in day.

JACKIE...Your WOE is very interesting. I do realize your body slows down if it feels you are starving it. I don't think I got this way by starving my body.

JEAN...That was some wedding. I never realized that LDS were that austere but married is married & when I think of how much is spent on some weddings. Maybe that's not a bad idea.

ELAINE...That's a great loss. Congratulations. Keep up with whatever you are doing. It's working.

I have to brag that I am back walking. This week I went out 3 times, so far. Two 2.5 mile walks and one that was 1.5. It felt good. I just hope I can keep it up. As long as it stays cooler in the morning I should be able to get at least 2 or 3 walks in a week. I am sure that this will help.

Gloria in MA....Looking forward to the official start of Summer and the Fourth of July!!!!

Talking Friday Eve and Summers Eve

GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

This is the way all the days should be..... ah to have the windows open and the birds twitterpated. Such is life in South California. I have had a struggle to stay within my 19 points today.....Chicken broth for dinner with some veggies. I did it to myself and I am not going to whine about it. Aren't you glad.

ELAINE that is great. What a nice loss to get you going down this road to thin. Keep up your momentum girl and you will be skipping down this road to thin.

GLORIA good for you! Walking is so good for a person. I am very proud of you and you aren't bragging for you have the right because have done it. I just have to tell you this... I have been getting freebies from my doctor for my knee and it has been getting so much better I was actually going to start a walking program. Last month when we picked up the meds ~ Cowboy went in and came out with a different kind and said he was told they were the same thing just a different company. Well after taking them a few days they weren't doing a thing for my knee and I said I sure liked the other brand better. Well when I got a refill it was back to the old ones that worked. What had happened they had given me anti-depresants with a name that sounds so like the deflamitory ones so when I was taking them my knee hurt but I didn't care. Now that I am back on the right stuff my knee will be ready ~ hopefully ~ next week to start a walking program. I have got to take it easy because I have memories of what happened last program I started........ OH yes tomorrow is the beginning of Summer. It felt like it was already here ...... getting lots of practice anyway.

Have a lovely evening everyone.

Good E vening Magnolias!

Well, this is one tired flower tonight!! We decided that today was the day to clean all the windows; tracks and screens included!! The weather is nice...not too hot as it promises to be later in the week. The pool was down today for some kind of repair. So...Windows!! Hubby does the screens and the outsides...I do the tracks and the insides. We have 12 windows including the slider, and all but two are BIG windows! So actually, we did 1/2 of them before we pooped out. Tomorrow we will finish...I hope. Anyway...I'm counting this as my 1/2 hour exercise!! Even though it took us much longer than 1/2 hour to do them!

Yesterday, my friend and I went to see the Ya Ya sisterhood. Very funny movie...and moving too. The relationship between a mother and her daughter. Maggie Smith was supurb!! As always...I love Maggie S. I know Ebbert and Roper didn't like it at all, but I really think men would miss a lot of the nuances and maternal feelings that only woman would pick up on. Definitely a woman's movie.

I'm wishing you all well with your losses, exercise and general good eating!

MAGGIE: I think I read in one of Jean's posts, that Cindy was expecting the same time as her daughter-in-law. Can you shed any light on this?? Thanks

Happy Summer Everyone!!

Talking Summer Soon

GOOD EVENING MAGNOLIAS

COOKIE absolutely all that window washing would count for activity points. That is pure exercise. Wanna come do ours when you are finished there? They aren't quite as big...I promise. But there are quite a few. Cindy is expecting on November 26. She is doing very well and happy as can be and likes living here in the states.

Catch ya all later.........nighters.

Cowboy got me the cutest little espresso/cappuccino maker for a 50 pound down reward. It is so cute. Hope it works as well as it looks.

Have a great day everyone.

Happy Saturday, Flowers!
I am home . . . not back in the routine yet, but home. We had nice weather until yesterday when we got up to pouring rain. It was a good day to head home!

Jackie -- Thanks for the WOE explanation; I feel just a little dense on that one! I had to laugh at your daughter checking on the dog while they were gone. When we had our first cat, (BK), my parents came and stayed overnight with her while we went to my inlaws for a weekend. When you finish doing your windows you can come and do mine! It seems like they are dirty again as soon as it rains.

Maggie -- It sounds like you had a great time with your family! What fun to see "less" of each other and a BIG congrats for staying away from the sweet stuff! Also a BIG congrats on another loss! I don't know why but your dancing numbers are not coming through in the email . . . they are little boxes with "x" in them. I'm sure glad you got the right meds for your knee again -- you are lucky that what you took wasn't dangerous for you.

Bubbles -- I love the name Kevin for a dog! Your teeny - tiny gain will be gone along with some friends! I'll bet that was the fuzzies between your toes! I am sorry to hear about your friend who is ill. I hope that the doctors figure out what the problem is soon and that it is something fixable. I hope you have a wonderful time at camp!

Gloria -- Your DH is sweet to walk the neighborhood dogs! I'll bet the neighbors appreciate that too . . . as well as the dogs! I love to walk in the morning . . . wish we lived close enough that we could do it together! I am proud of myself in that I walked 3 out of the 5 mornings while we were gone.

Elaine -- A BIG congrats on 9#s that are gone forever! What a GREAT loss!

I need to iron a white shirt for DH to wear to the wedding reception tonight. Then I need to decide what I am going to wear.

Have a nice weekend -- see you all later!

Jean -- glad to be back home in Iowa!
