For the last few months I have been seeing a medical nutritionist and WOW what a super help she is! Just wondering if anyone else is doing this and what their experience is... anything to share?
I am! Love it, really helps me stay on track. In fact, she has my daily plate link, and checks that regularly and we stay in contact by email. It's fantastic to have the immediate response.
I have seen one a few times and have access to one via the VA Hospital's MOVE Program of which I am enrolled. It is the VAMC's fatboy club! LOL!
You have a whole team of people working with you to help you not only lose weight but live a healthier lifestyle.
It is mandatory in the program to go to a nutrition class and have at least one 1 on 1 consultation with the nutritionist. I have learnd a lot from those visits. One of the best classes was using plastic food (no we didn't eat it! LOL) to recognize what a single serving was. It was made fun because it was done like playing a game.
It was the first time I realized how huge the portions were in most eating establisments were!
Yes! The nutritionist I am assigned to now has those little plastic food thingies out on the little table between us! She also drew out on a "plate" the proportions of each thing that should be where, etc. I started using the small plate. This month my challenge is to eat a green vegetable with EVERY meal... LOL a couple of times it has been a celery stick with my morning porridge but it is developing the habit that is important. And the first day I had beans and rice for lunch I threw in a few fresh spinach leaves... it was so good I added more next time!
I would be interested in hearing more of what you have learned.
