Default in tears

I noticed my jeans werent fitting quite right, that my favorite pair of scrubs were uncomfortable when i sat down and my face just felt a little puffy. i had been slacking big time with working out, and really not paying any attention to my diet at all for a little while.... and i hadnt stepped on the scale. so i figured i'd step on and see the damage!

I GAINED BACK 16 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, that part of it is over. Now you know. Now you can act.

If you begin to take back control over the situation then you will get on the scale tomorrow and you won't have this reaction. Then you can get on the scale the day after that and if you are taking care of yourself, then slowly but surely you will work your way down.

I had one of those freak out moments a few weeks ago, and I have to say, just pulling my head out of the sand and doing something as simple as getting on the scale every morning really helped me get control mentally and emotionally of the situation.

You can do it, Kate!

Kate- let this be your motivation for working out again. It seems like it takes little to no time to gain the weight and so long to lose it. Don't give up. Think of those warm summer months that are on their way. You will do it!!

you know what CONGRATS...you saw the waring signs and instead of ignoring them, you got the full story.

I think you took the hardest step.

Don't beat yourself up, the worst thing you can do is make yourself feel bad/worse. Accept this has happened and allow yourself to feel posistive again.

I know its tough but you could have not confronted this and ended up with the weight gain being higher....

AAWWW don't give up hon! I've always told my friends when they're down...we can't always be on top...we also have to be on the bottom since that is what life is....a huge wheel. So let this be a lesson for each of us...don't be discouraged about this. I know how much you want to change and let this be your motivation to change a lifetime.

16 lbs. Now you know. Much better then when it turns into 20.

That scale is one big reality check. It really is a great tool. Helps us to "catch" things before they get out of hand. Even better then snug fitting clothing and a puffy face.

Okay. So now you really, really know. No denying it anymore. Now you can act on it!!! No more slacking off with this and not paying any attention to tha.f You "caught it". You caught in. Just in time. You'll have that scale moving downward before you know it.

Oh, wow. I think the damage isn't as bad as it seems. Don't beat yourself up.
And at least now, you personally know that there are three choices in weight loss
1. continue dieting
2. active maintenance
3. gaining it back.

If there was a fourth option, none of us would be overweight in the first place, I guess.

Wise words, now let's use them. I say "let's" because I too have done the same thing these past few weeks. I have gone up at least 5-6 pounds and decided to get back on track TODAY!! We could sit around and feel lousy, or just realize that this is life, and as long as we get back on track, everything will be fine. The weeks are going to pass anyway, so why not have them showing a loss? By this time next month we'll be a lot happier.

At least you know. I wound up gained 40 lbs back and it hurt so much worse. Act now or you will have to work even harder.

16 pounds stinks but it's not the end of the world. Just time to recommit and try again! You can do it!

At least you've caught it now!!! Just tell yourself, "I've done it before...I CAN do it again!"

I understand how you feel...I've pulled my head up out of the sand just today and made myself really, REALLY see how I've been eating. Gotta nip it in the bud before my clothes are fitting tight again...

I'm right there with you--but at a 20 pound gain over the past 3 years. Yuck. I should have stopped myself at 5, but no, I just let it go. But I'm not giving up. I'll beat this thing!

Word for Word that is EXACTLY what happened to me just before Christmas. Right down to the scrubs and puffy face and 10-14 pounds!!

I too, was devastated, and in fact I'm sure I posted those exact words.

But it took that moment to turn my life back around. This can be your moment too.

You are not alone. Two weeks ago I finally gave up taking diet pills. I gained 7 pounds immediately!! Yesterday I started a thread "at my wits end" and after getting support from the 3fc family I woke up today with a new mindframe. I feel your pain and I'm here. We can help each other.
