Default Adipex or other meds

I just started Adkins, but PCOS makes results from dieting nearly unattainable. If you've ever tried Adipex, or another weight loss drug, I'd like to hear about your experience.

Hey Nicki,

As someone with PCOS, I do sympathize...but disagree that PCOS makes weight loss via healthy diet and exercise impossible. It makes it a bit harder, it means you have to be a bit more committed to making healthy choices every day, but it definitely is possible. I lost my weight with nothing but a mostly-whole-foods, calorie counting plan combined with lots of exercise. So it isn't unattainable or even nearly so...there are many people here with PCOS who have attained weight loss using only those methods.

Adipex is the same as Phentermine, so please see our thread here: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=81701

PCOS has perhaps made my weight loss a little more challenging (I've been doing this now for about two years, while others have lost a similar amount of weight in less time), but it certainly hasn't stopped me. Like mandalinn, my approach involves eating mostly whole foods, counting calories, and getting plenty of exercise. I've now lost almost 120 pounds without taking any medications besides BCPs.

Thank so much for your opinions ladies. There are different forms of PCOS, some have high testosterone and some are insulin resistant, which is my problem. I can gain 8 pounds in a week, while dieting, it's very frustrating. Docs have put me on diabetic drugs, even though I'm not, to see if it will help.. which all it did was make me sick. Their theory behind my weight, and the problems loosing it, all seems to be tied into PCOS and the insulin resistance. At least that's what they're saying this week!

Best wishes...

I too have PCOS and there are some people who have taken various drugs such as metaformin. You can check out the PCOS forum..

Adiplex is an appetite suppresant so it would only help you eat less which is what calorie counting and eating whole foods would do for you anyway without the drug and without side effects.
