This frustration you're feeling is the first true sign that your diet plan is not the right one for you. Keep trying! There's a plan out there for everyone. What are you currently doing?

Hey it happens. Reward yourself for staying on-plan. Bubble bath, quiet reading time, taking a quick walk. Keep yourself distracted!

Sweetie,

Here is something another poster posted here (and I apologize that I cannot give credit) - and this is something that I will never forget as it is very inspirational for me:

Being fat is hard. Losing weight is hard. Pick your hard.

Hm, yes--it could be that you are trying to restrict yourself too much. Try using a food tracker like FitDay or The Daily Plate (free online), or just writing down what you're eating and looking up calories for the items. Also, you might want to see this Sticky Thread for some guidelines:

The beginning is hard, sometimes.

Especially since we haven't been following our new habits long enough to see changes on the scale.

But from what you've posted, I have a few suggestions. If you're eating because you feel down emotionally, it's time to find a new habit to replace that eating, such as journeling or coming to 3FC to read & chat or even just going for a walk.

You mention watching what you eat & drinking water & treadmilling. Perhaps it's all too much at once? Sometimes we need to ease ourselves into things. Focus on ONE major thing this week, and then adding another thing next week etc. etc.

What you've been eating & how much makes a big difference. If you're not eating enough calories, this is going to be a tough journey (and it's not good for the body either). Definitely check out the post that Jay copied down.

Keep at this. I PROMISE you that the rewards of sticking with this long-term are WORTH it.

Oh, it *IS* hard, we are all right there with you! Particularly at the beginning when every day (hour, minute) can feel near impossible and you have no results yet to encourage you to stay the course.

But don't give up! It will get somewhat easier as your new habits really settle in and you will start to feel better and better as you feel the results. Just know that everyone here really understands!

Well, as the posters above suggest...

First, it IS hard. You're changing habits and doing things differently, and leaving yourself in calorie deficit. It IS hard.

However, it's also possible you've restricted calories too much and are making it much harder than you need to. It seems to me that many people who drastically slash calories end up not being able to sustain that level, give up and think they can't lose weight.

I personally don't think we need to starve ourselves to lose weight. I think we need to make many changes that we can STICK to, so that after we lose the weight, we can KEEP it off.

So, do you know how much you are eating each day???

Do you have something to take your mind off of eating? I found the hardest thing when I started was having nothing to do but think of food. Sat watching the telly...thinking of food. Sat at my desk at work....thinking of food. I started doing some crafting and sewing and found that my hands were busy, I was engrossed in my new hobby and best of all...NOT thinking of food. It's the same as when I gave up smoking, you need to find something for your hands to do that isn't holding food.
