I used to be more of a me-centered person, but not as much since having kids. I have 3 kids, 4 years old and under, so that definitely changed things. I think I have a pretty good balance, though, of not neglecting my needs. Like they say on airplanes, "secure your own oxygen mask first" sort of thing. If I don't ensure my needs are met, then I can't meet my kids' needs. It's a balancing act that will continue to change over the years.

I have had to learn to take care of myself first before committing to too many things all at once and trying to help others. It is a struggle at times still but if I go and keep on going and going like the energizer bunny all the time not taking the appropriate amount of time to sleep and eat properly, I eventually make myself sick and burned out. Then what good am I to others? Plus it is expensive being sick/worn out and no fun either.
