Default 3 lbs overnite? HUH?

Question... I went to bed last night, weighed before bed and I was 199. Went to sleep & woke up, weighed again, 196. HUH? How is that even possible?
I have been doing really bad keeping my cal intake up the last week or so. Some of you might have read before I was eating around 700 but have been making an effort to increase that number. The last couple days my total calorie intake has been: 770, 760, 767,840, 826 & 583. I have not been feeling well lately, last 2 days or so, I have a stomach bug that is going around.
Could this 3 lbs overnite loss come from either the lack of calories, being sick or a combo of both? Will it come back?? I'm confused....

Have your ever weighed your at night before? Because I pretty much always lose 3-4 pounds over night. Conversely, that means my evening weight is usually 2-4 pounds over my morning weight.

Same here. I don't make a habit out of weighing at night because it's not my real weight. The few times I have (when I first started) I would always be down 3 pounds the next day. I'm sure being sick has caused some of the weight loss and you might gain it back once you feel better and eat more calories.

199 is my true weight. I have been 199 for about 4-5 days now. I always weigh myself, I'm kind of an addict. :-) I tend to stay very consistent, I don't usually have the dancing numbers like other people do. I pretty much ALWAYS weigh the same in the morning & at night. Number jumping is not normal for me at all! I'm afraid to update the ticker or anything cause I kind think the number will go back up.

Even if you weigh every day, change your ticker once a week. Just pick a day-Monday, Saturday, or whatever.

You will always weight more at nite. Because of the food and water you have had during the day.. Once you have gone (potti) in the morning is the best time to weight and when you will get a more constent weight.

I do the same thing. I always weigh myself when I wake up after emptying my bladder. LOL. And I take my clothes off as well since those do weight at least a pound or two. I was bloated all day yesterday (too much salt in my food) and was around 199. I woke up this morning after using the potty and was back to my normal weight of 195.7.

I always weigh less in the morning than I do in the afternoon or evening. Usually by anywhere from 3 to 5 lbs.

My advice to you? WALK AWAY FROM THE SCALE.

I weigh daily because it keeps me on track. I weigh at the same time, in the same place, wearing the same things (nothing). Stepping on and off the scale at different times of the day, wearing different clothes, etc. is only going to frustrate you and make you have questions like these.

And sweetie, you HAVE to get your calorie intake up. You're going to make yourself seriously ill if you don't start eating more calories. Seriously. What you listed was not "a couple" of days. It was 6 days. Nearly a week of 700 calorie days is NOT HEALTHY. Please, please, please, please ... eat more.

You're only going to harm yourself and make it harder to lose in the long run if you don't start eating.

.

That was really a bad example! My calorie intake was up around 1100-1200. I had school 2 of those night and that always is a low cal day, usually around 800 and the other days, I haven't been feeling right! If you could see all the other days, you'd see more of 1100-1200 a day, I SWEAR, DON'T HURT ME PHOTOCHICK! :-) And someone asked if I had been going to the bathroom a lot and yeah, it did come with the bug. But even still 3 lbs?! I just seems crazy.
Also, I have my "official" weigh in on Thursday morning, after I use the bathroom before i eat anything. That's the number I record and usually use of my ticker & things like that. I just can't really believe I've lost 3 overnight, something else has to be going on. I have been loosing a consistent 1-2 lbs a week for the last 5 or 6 weeks, and that is because I INCREASED MY CALORIES. :-) Before I was losing some weeks 1 and then another week I lost 5! But lately it's been very consistent at 1-2 lbs a week. I just can't see 3 overnite....

Honestly, even at your current weight/height, you should probably be at least 1400-1500 a day. There have been lots of threads about why eating a small amount of calories is not better for weight loss -- please check them out!

I don't eat that low on purpose. I mean, I ate my 3 meals a day & usually 1 snack before bed. I have been eating a lot of those weight watchers meals instead of dinner w/ my family. And those are only about 300 cals at most. But they fill me up and are not bad either. There is where the difference is coming in I think. If I ate a "normal" dinner, I would get at least another 300 calories or so... Plus, I haven't been feeling well. Trust me, I make every effort to attempt to eat more each day and most days I average around 1200.
