It didn't work for me... Because I could eat whatever Sat, Sun and Special days and I would go overboard on those days.
When I don’t have a plan to follow, I lose control... Hope it works for you...
If it's so simple, that's bound to be a pretty short book!
I like my snacks. They keep me on plan. Some people don't need them, and that's fine.
The other issue I see? I can do a LOT of damage on a weekend. In fact, when I start slacking on my weekends, even if I'm on plan the rest of the time? I gain. At the very least, when I was actively losing, being off plan on the weekends was a surefire way to stall.
Sort of. But mine is more no snack foods (chips, and that sort of thing) rather than snacks - I sort of nibble (seems like) all day long but it's a couple of raw nuts, a serving of fruit, or some such. I also still have to calorie count and plan my meals because, even if I stuck like glue to the "no seconds" rule, I could do serious damage with some giant "firsts"

The basic idea is to not to go nuts on those days. Tempting, I know.
Remember being a kid and not having anything between meals? As my mom would say, I don't want you to spoil your appetite.
I'll know in a couple of months whether this is going to be it for me. I sure hope so since it was how I ate for so long.
I went from super skinny eating tons of food, to overweight. So I've tried the diets and was either so hungry I couldn't stand it, or going nuts trying to figure out which foods I can't eat.
Only time will tell.
Glory87, you look fabulous and I am so happy that your eating plan works so well for you.
That's a really cute general guideline. I, like some other people here, definitely couldn't handle it because of the "no snacks" thing. My rule of thumb is: never feel hungry, never feel full. I try to keep myself moderately satiated on mostly veggies all day long (and veggies + legumes for dinner) in hopes that my metabolism will realize, dude, I am probably not going to starve to death any time soon.

The giant firsts are in fact one of the issues some of the nos'ers have. Reinhard's advice is to not worry about that at the start. Just develop the habit of three meals a day. Because you are giving up between meal snacks, you need to make sure you are getting enough food at each meal. Over time that one plateful becomes one serving. You start naturally diminishing your appetite.
One woman lost 96 pounds eating this way. There are a number of success stories. It is very slow going though and just as all the successful dieters here know, it is forever.
Don't worry about weekends either. He suggests that you pick out something high quality and savor it. But don't be a fool either.

Anyway, wish me luck, I need it.
This sounds perfect for me, cause it's the way I want to eat. Snacking and obsessing about food constantly is not doing me one bit of good. Thanks for telling us about it.
I was initially trying to have a snack or two (not go to long between eating, as is often suggested for weight loss), but I am a compulsive eater and as such I just CAN'T start with a snack. I've recently decided to do 3 meals a day and that's it.... anyway, I'm going to check out this plan!

I don't think that would work for me, simply put; late nights I DO have cravings; so I'm planning ahead and making sure I have low-cal/low fat popcorn int he house..
I do right now 1 cup is 20 calories and I never eat more than 2 cups of popcorn in one sitting ever...
I just couldnt do the no snacks/no sweets thing..even though I love my salty foods I like my frozen yogurt...
I truly hope it works for you!!! Sounds like you are revved to do it! thats great!

The book came, I read the whole thing day before yesterday, it's not that big. I started the program yesterday and I am not kidding, today I couldn't finish my lunch. For the first time in years I am actually feeling hopeful. I'm not a sugar person, so that part was not an issue, or really even eating seconds. The snacking part was huge, but to my surprise after a few grumbles in the stomach I forgot about eating. His book claims we get 26% of our calories from snacks. I know most people in here say they need their snacks, but eating so often only made me hungrier. And when I was thin I never ate snacks. I'll keep you posted, but I think this guy finally hit on the plan for me.
