I was on vacation since the beginning of September until now. But, I did not frolic on the sandy beaches of the Caribbean – I had no desire to go anywhere this year since I have been really neglecting the house and the garden the whole year, concentrating on weight loss and exercise. So I spent my vacation at home and even though I had fun, I worked hard almost every single day. Gardening may not seem like such hard work, but when you cut down a tree and then try to wrestle the roots out (which seemed to originate in China) you burn a lot of calories.
The bad part is that although I tried to eat healthy, in the second half of the vacation (when I ran out of stuff that I had made and frozen for this purpose earlier) my good habits went out the window. I did eat a lot of healthy stuff but I also alternated it with a lot of rather unhealthy stuff because I simply did not have time to cook (and yes, I admit, no will power to make myself to).
And the said apple pie? Well, one day I made two apple pies. One for my next door neighbour (who is a plumber and will be doing something for me gratis) and another one for another neighbour down the street as a thank you for another favour. The next door neighbour was supposed to leave on a 5 day trip in the afternoon and I hoped to have the pie ready before he leaves. And I did, but he was nowhere to be seen (I thought I would see him on the patio) and of course, while I was on the phone for 15 minutes, the door got closed and his car was gone, so I figured out he left. So the pie was just sitting there …. smelling so nice…… aah the aroma of a freshly baked apple pie with cinnamon and nutmeg….. I am sure you know what happened …. I cut myself a slice. Of course, the moment I finished eating it, the neighbour returned (turned out he just went to get some last minute supplies). It was a bit too late to give the pie then and I was so mad at myself for giving in that I took it out on the pie and late at night that day, the whole pie was gone. Definitely something I am not very proud of (although it did tasted good
). I did read 3FC here and there, but somehow it did not feel the same – I had too much other stuff on my mind. Also, even though I did go to the gym once or twice each week, my exercise did suffer (but in all frankness, I also have to say that many times my arms and back really hurt from the gardening so exercise was out of question). But, I also found somebody who was able to figure out what was happening with my hip and I may not be able to continue with my running on treadmill, or at least I will have to restrict it a lot (depending on how it goes).
At least I did two long walks with my dogs each day, 3 km right after I got up and then by the evening, they conveniently “forgot” they already had had their daily walk and wanted to go again. So somehow, the overall tally up is not too bad … it looks like I am up two pounds [but September is not entirely over yet] and am baaaaaaaaaaack now and hopefully the two pounds (and more) will be gone soon.
By the way, congrats to Josephine on reaching her spectacular goal weight!

What matters is that you are back on track. It happens....it's what you do after that really matters.
