  • I eat anywhere from 1200-1700 calories a day and walk 45 minutes daily or more. I also drink a lot of water and find eating slowly and chewing your food completely (about 20 chews per bite) makes me feel full very quickly. I lose about 2 lbs a week steadily doing this. That's like.. 96 lbs a year!
  • Lady violet, do you have any more info about thin within? Is there a website or something?
  • I'm just tracking my intake and activity on thedailyplate.com and working out 3days a week (so far) it really seems to help when you keep a visual track of what you ingest.
  • I count calories on Fitday and try to stay as active as possible. I'm just getting back on track after having baby a few months ago but I'm going to start jogging a 5k a day again. I lost 80 lbs this way after I had my first child! You can do it!
  • I use calorie counting. I find if I know how much I am eating, I can avoid over eating and it also helps me find lower calorie foods to fill up on instead of eating more carbs or protien. I love meat and sweets. So I bought a scale to measure portions of meat, and if I do good all day, I might have two servings of the meat at dinner, (as long as it is healthy, red meat I tend to try to stay away from). I measure everything, I have all of the caloric info no fruits and veggies posted on the fridge, and I use it. All the time. It really helps. I am also thinking of having a friend take my picture, so I can look at it when I am having a bad day. right now the mirror is enough, but when I lose enough weight to really notice, I think the pic will help. I havn't really started a excercise plan yet. I am still on week one of diet.
  • I have tried just about all of them. Right now I am on a yeast cleanse, in preparation to go on the HCG program. Wish me luck.

One spring I tried the chocolate diet and actually lost weight on that. It was right at Easter, so I got Easter chocolate on sale and made myself so sick off of it that I lost about 5 pounds. I don't recommend that one though. I tried the cabbage soup diet, and was glad that the job I had at the time let me take liberal toilet breaks. I did pretty well with just getting Healthy Choice frozen dinners and having 3 of those a day. It was easier than trying to measure everything and count calories. Somehow, complicated calorie counting just makes me hungry. I gained weight the first time I tried Weight Watchers, but did a bit better with their more recent program. I just couldn't keep fitting those meetings into my schedule, and without the meetings, it started to seem more complicated. I did the grapefruit diet until my mouth was raw from all the citric acid. I tried the Hollywood diet - major waste of money. I tried Jenny Craig - some of the food made me sick, and once they figured out which foods I was sensitive to and eliminated them, I stopped losing weight.

I did a doctor supervised program once before and lost a bunch of weight, but I dropped out because people were making comments about my weight that I really didn't appreciate. I think I'm stronger this time, though.

  • Hey!

3FC has reviews of many diets and diet books. Go to the main 3FC page (not the forums page) and click Diets in the purple menu.

Here's a link to details of some of the "other" diets:

  • I can't stand counting calories...it drives me nuts...so my dietician suggested I use the Canada Food Guide, write a food journal and try to watch my portion sizes.
