ECmom 03-18-2002 11:40 PM

Good evening!
Well, there is absolutely no way that I am going to catch up with all the old posts, respond etc........ It was great to see the thread so busy. A lot of you are getting tons of excercise (wish I had the time!). But that is great~ enjoy those recombinant bikes. (Jackie your calorie burns are incredible!)

As for me, I make it thru Ds's birthday, which was so busy, but fun. What a great group of boys. Yes, they were loud and busy but pleasant, polite and even remembered to take their shoes off upon entering the house. Ds has really been blessed with nice friends. Dd did not have anyone sleep over and ended out hanging out with her brother's friends. Even she got along well with them! His real birthday was Sunday- so the whole weekend was taken up with celebrating.
As for today, Dd (15) woke up at 1 am throwing up..........and Dd (6) did not have school today due to icy roads. Ds had a 2 hour delay.:dizzy: Yup it has been one of those days! The sad part is that I have not been able to walk since Friday! That one poor remaining brain cell is starting to lose it!

Ok, it is late.........and I had better get some rest. Hope that y'all are doing just fine. I hope that I can get back on tomorrow.

Have a great nite.
Ginny

Welcome to Angel! I am feeling a bit lazy today, myself. My house is a total dump and in need of some major cleaning. The only good thing is that we've had 5 inches of snow dumped on us yesterday, so when I finally get around to cleaning, at least the kids/dogs won't be tracking mud all over!

Ginny, I don't know how your poor, lonely brain cell survived this past weekend! Mine would surely have jumped out of an ear!;)

Did everyone have a good St. Patty's Day? Any good parties? We went to a party on Friday night, and I did well staying OP by bringing my own food. I did not want to eat the corned beef, etc. since I was cooking my own on Sunday. The best thing I did was to bring a giant bunch of grapes to the party. I put them in a big bowl on the table with the rest of the food, and was able to munch along with everyone else without feeling like I was missing out. Hooray for small accomplishments. :)

I did splurge a bit too much on St. Patty's Day... had 2 pieces of cake at work. Of well, it is done, and I had an excellent eating day yesterday.

Well, off to grab a little breakfast, then <gulp> clean house. Talk soon...

spryng 03-19-2002 10:13 AM

Good morning everyone!
I'm happy to report that my eating went well yesterday. I ended the day at about 1200 calories and that included a lunch of taco bell! So I am proud of myself. When my Dh came home from work last night he wanted to go and get dinner and I was really tempted to order pizza. But I told him that I was at 1200 cals already and really didn't want to blow my diet. So he quietly went into the kitchen and fixed himself something to eat. I was so suprised! When I realized he wasn't going to town I asked why (because I was ready to cave for pizza) and he said that he didn't want me to blow my diet when he could eat at home. I was so impressed!! he doesn't do that very often. But none the less he saved my diet for the day.
Now here's a brand new day and I'm out of yogurt which has become a staple of my diet. I either have one for breakfast or lunch. So today no banana cream pie  how will I surivive?? ;)
I looked for the chocolate yogurts last time I went shopping and couldn't find any. Are you sure they make chocolate yogurt?? I did find a light chocolate pudding that has 100 calories per serving. That was pretty tempting. But I didn't get any this time around.
Well anyway, .....
Ginny you are a brave woman and I'm glad that your sleep over was a success ! I'm not looking forward to when my kids want their friends to sleep over, but I have a while yet.
For you who didn't do so well on their diets yesterday, well, don't worry about it. This isn't suppose to be a "diet" diet. This is a way of eating. A lifetime plan. So you have a lifetime to get it right, right?? Believe me, I've taken plenty of nose dives lately! :dizzy: But we'll all get it right in the end :)
Oh by the way I'm down to 134 today. Already two lbs gone. I figured it was mostly water retention. I should be back to 132 in a couple more days. I'm increasing my water to flush my system out. Taco bell probably didn't help in that area, but it sure was good!!
Well, I'm going to get off here. I hope everyone has a great day and stays OP. :^:

ECmom 03-19-2002 11:23 AM

Good Morning!
Good to hear from you, Gemini and Spryng.
Golly Spryng- I cannot imagine a day without my banana cream pie either (although today's lunch is coconut cream pie). Dannon has a white chocolate raspberry that is available here in NY state.
Maybe you can find it where you are.
Gemini- did you conquer the clutter monster in your house yet?
It is so hard when you get behind in the house work- seems like it takes forever to get caught up!!!!! All it takes is one day "off guard" and caboom- there goes the mess!
I have a busy day today- hope to get back on later. Somehow I will get a walk in- but it will most likely be tonite.
See ya later.
Ginny

sheila061968 03-19-2002 12:06 PM

Hi everyone
Gemini I have the same problem .I think my laudry reproduces itself over night and dishes dirty themselves in spite of everything I do to keep them clean.. I started my TOM early this month I feel soooo bloated and big and lazy that I just cant get nothing done,,:moo:
So far today I did eat a yogurt Banana Creme and a med banana for breakfast
Lunch my body is screaming for a fluffernutter but I might just eat nother yogurt strawberry Banana (yup I like bananas)
Supper will be some kind of meat with potatoes and some veggie, I know I should think ahead but IF I had my way I would let them fend for themselves and I would go to bed till my TOM was over..
Spryng CONGRATS On the 2 pound loss!!!!!!!You are right this is a lifetime thing (But I have little pateince, which means I have to learn that)
Ginny congrat for remaining sane and keeping that brain cell !!!!
Well I have to end for now I will try to get back here later . My dirty clothes seem to be multiplying as I type..
Take Care
Sheila

ECmom 03-19-2002 12:34 PM

Hi Sheila,
Sounds like you are having a mushy kind of a day there. But, your eating plan sounds great and good for you that you are sticking to it. Sounds like a good day to make a big cup of tea and a good magazine or book!!:) Try to get some time for yourself in today. Have a good one!
Ginny

gemini 03-19-2002 04:24 PM

Well Ginny, I dusted, vac'd, cleaned the bathroom, washed the dogs' bedding, mopped the floors, and peddled 10 miles on my bike. Still need to bake bread and make dinner. But all in all, a productive day, I'd say. :) I love keeping busy... no time to over-eat! :D Also, gotta take dd out for new shoes tonight. She has a soc hop at school Friday night and wants saddle shoes. She is just in kindergarten... lordy help me when she's 15!

Sheila, sounds like you got a case of the blahs :( but at least you have a plan. I do best to stay OP when I've got a plan. It's when I don't know what my next meal will be that I snack on something "bad". Hang in there, sweetie. ;)

I decided to hop on board the Easter Challenge thread and am shooting for 5lbs. I will do my best...

Talk soon...

Lilbitofsunshine 03-19-2002 08:57 PM

I'm still around everyone. It has been raining here since Friday and we have been very busy today and yesterday getting all of our farm equiptment onto high ground. Please forgive me for not getting personal, I did read all of your posts. Everyone sounds pretty good. I'm doing okay. I nose dived off the Adkins diet. It was impossible with all the going ons. Begining on the 24 I will be begining a 6 week diet and exercise plan, it is suppose to bring ultimate results. I really want to be in top shape come my trip home to see my sisters. Last time I was home we didn't get together. So, the last time they saw me was at Thanksgiving and I was at a very high weight. Anyhow, I will get with you girls tomorrow. I miss you:(. Lets all hope the rain lets up soon before I float away.
Nighty Nite!

Hi!

I thought that I'd drop in for a bit & that's about all the time I have tonight. It's getting close dd's bedtime & I feel guilty that I didn't spend too much quality time with her. Well, I shouldn't exactly say that! I took her right after school for her 2nd horse riding lesson & watched her the whole entire time! Plus-we had some great one-on-one time driving to & from lessons. She's on "Cloud 9" on Tuesdays, knowing that she can go riding! I thought that this w/b great exercise for her & horses are her passion, too! Well, I feel fat as ever today, (TOM) but my dm thought that I lost some weight. I'm so glad that the PMS state has left me, as this sure was a challenging month of depression & biting peoples heads off! (Matter of speech)!
I was faithful the last few days & got in an hour each day on the bike. I've been staying OP pretty good. Did anyone watch the Oprah show a few days ago on weighloss & also the Maury Povich Show on weightloss today? I taped both of them & watched part of the Oprah one & hopefully will get a chance to finish both of them tonite after the kids are in bed. I hope that Angel can find us again, as she is so new to the boards here & is having a hard time locating us at times! Ginny: Glad to hear that you survived the sleep-over party! :D Don't worry about the shortage of brain cells, as I've lost a ton of them this past wk.
Well, I was going to make this real quick & here I am still plunking away at the keyboard. Gotta go & spend QT with dd.
Jen, Spryng, Misty & Sheila & the rest of you: I will catch up with you all when I have more time, sorry! :o

gemini 03-20-2002 08:35 AM

Just a few quick words before I gotta get ds off to school...

Very exciting news! First off, dh told me last night that he was checking out my butt while I was cooking dinner and that it was looking mighty firm! :o Now, I know that's a bit of an exageration, but he's noticing a change. :D

But here's the big news... this morning, I am wearing an old pair of size 12 jeans! :D I knew there was a reason I saved them!!!

Anyway, I am just way excited! Gotta run. Talk soon...

ECmom 03-20-2002 10:06 AM

Good morning!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just here for a quick hello- got another busy day on tap here.
Somehow I will get a walk in this am- but considering that it is raining/snowing it will be interesting!
Jackie-good to hear from you. Glad that Dm had something nice to say about you :) - nice to hear something positive and that she was the one who said it too!
Jen- great news about your butt and those size 12 jeans!!!!!!!
Misti- no problem about not getting personal in your post, we are busy ladies and sometimes there is just enough time to vent a bit and scan the posts. Glad that you are here- in whatever way you can be! When is your trip home to see your sisters????
Hope that you are back on track today.

Gotta go! My neighbor is joining me for the walk!
Have a great day!
Ginny

ECmom 03-20-2002 10:13 PM

Hi!
Looks like a quiet day here at the thread...............that means that y'all will have to rely on me for your entertainment!:dizzy:
Speaking of needing my head examined...............this morning, in the dumb snow/rain that we had I went for a 4 mile jog with my neighbor. Actually made it thru most of it jogging (probably about 1/4 of it I did my usual fast walk). The good news was my knees held up fairly well. The bad news was that I got really cold. But it was nice to have the company. But I would much rather walk than jog!!!! (the route we took is my "long walk" route). Jogging just is not my thing. My eating was not too good. I did some stress eating............:( I have got to break myself of that. I was doing so well for a while. I have not gained any weight- still came in at 153#. I just have to get my won't power back.
But, after a wierd day, I was feeling so wound up that I just came back from my 2 mile walk. ( I must be nuts......no comment Jackie!)
I hope that everyone had a good day! Night!
Ginny

Lilbitofsunshine 03-20-2002 10:43 PM

I haven't floated away yet. The water is still very high. I just thought I'd check in and read the posts before go to bed. Thanks for being understanding about the short post. You are all appreciated. Hope things here are back to normal soon. Take care girls, I'm tuckered. Nighty Nite!
Misty

gemini 03-21-2002 09:09 AM

Ginny, I think yesterday was a stress eating day! I did so well all day, but blew it at work with chips, cookies, and a half of a donut. I guess I was a little bummed because I stepped on the scale and, for the first time, didn't see a loss. But, I'm putting some perspective on it... I didn't gain either... stayed the same. And, it had only been since Saturday that I last weighed-in, and I ate a bunch of crap on Sunday for St. Patty's Day. That, plus TOM will be arriving within the week. So, I'm trying not to get down. Today is a new day... start over. :)

Misty, Glad you're still afloat! Keep bailing! ;)

Jackie, Sheila... how are you guys?

Gotta go... ds has swim class this morning. Talk soon...

spryng 03-21-2002 10:42 AM

Good morning all.
You must have got the rain we just got misty. It has been raining here for three days solid. No kidding. Today it has finally cleared out and the sun is shining. My poor mud puddle of a yard is now a lake! :o But the good news is we finally have the money to conform it into a yard this spring. We are putting up a fence around the entire 1 1/4 acres and building a deck and planting grass and lots of flowers. I can't wait to start. We should get started in the next couple of weeks. I'm so excited!! This is my first time to own my own home so this is also the first time I will have a yard to piddle around in this spring and summer! :D Needless to say I love flowers and will have them growing everywhere if I have my way. It's just too exciting. Also I talked it over with my DH and he has agreed to buy me a treadmill!! So today I will be pricing them on the internet. I want one that I can run on. I found one at walmart.com that goes up to 10 mph and has all kinds of cool features, like a heart monitor you stick on that shows where your heart rate is and where it should be, calculates how many cals you are buring, how far you went, etc. It's 400 dollars though!! But that's the kind I would like. I'm going to find a cheaper one though. I'll search ebay and such sites first. I'm sure I can find a used one somewhere that's half that price. I hope anyway. :)
Well, my eating was bad yesterday and topped it off by eating a personal container of ice cream. But I don't feel bad about it. I just have to adjust the next few days so that I don't gain from it. Hopefully I'll get that treadmill soon.
Anyway, sounds like everyone has been so busy!
I'll check in later and try to give everyone a personal message. Have a great day!!

gemini 03-21-2002 12:52 PM

Time for an exercise....

So, I'm always looking for new food ideas. Everyone's been raving about the light yogurts, which I unfortunately can't eat because of the artificial sweetners. But what are some of your other favorite OP food ideas?

:)I recently discovered Kraft Free Classic Ceasar salad dressing... 50cal and 0g fat per 2Tbs serving, and yummmmmm!

:)I absolutely love canned peaches in no sugar added fruit juice. I drain them from the can and rince with cold water. A quick, easy, and delicious snack, especially when I'm craving something sweet.

:)One of my favorite side veggies to go with dinner is zucchini and yellow squash, cut into spears, and grilled on my George Foreman. Delicious!

:)I love my Kashi cereal in the morning with frozen blueberries.

What are someof your favorites?

Lilbitofsunshine 03-21-2002 02:25 PM

Hello Girls! It is so good to see the sunshine. Dh's spirits have lifted, mine and the kids too. That much rain scares me. We flooded last year and almost lost our farm. It rained here for 3 days too Spryng. So great about the treadmill. I hope you love it. Good luck finding one at a good price. I'm going out to the fitness mall tomorrow, if I see anything I'll let you know. Our whole farm looks like a lake. I know how you feel. We have to wear rubber boots everywhere. I hope we will begin fencing in our front yard next week. Then planting grass. I'm so excited to be able to let the kids play in the yard, aren't you? By the way I think the yogart was bryers brand. I'll find out for sure tomorow. I promise it is real, chocolate yogart.
What a great ideal Gemini! I hope everyone posts their favorites. Mine include: spagetti squash ( Spryng you might like this since you are a pasta fan), raisin bran (gotta have fiber!), honey dew mellon with a banana, I put grape nuts on everything from breading a chicken breast to my salad and yogart too, and if I get a sweet tooth I'll freeze some orange coolaid in ice cubes put them in the blender with a couple of tbsp of filled milk and add alittle sugar. It comes out tasting like a dream pop. If I think of anything else I'll let you all know.
Glad the sleep over went well for you Ginny. How are you feeling Jackie?
And Sheila?
I'm doing good. Back to counting calories. I hope to try the adkins again someday. Not in the near future though. Three trys was enough for me. I'm up to 20 miles a day on the bike. I'm picking up some weights tomorrow. Start working on my arms.
Hope you all have a good day staying OP!

sheila061968 03-21-2002 06:17 PM

 Hi Everyone

Hey everybody!!!!!
I am in a great mood despite the fact my kids are total monsters.. The sun is shining and I have an idea I too can and WILL do 10 pounds by June2nd. I have to start taking Charge of this sch*tt !!!!! It doesnt come off by wishing it away..
I have done a bit of research.
Eat 3 light meals a day with 2 light snacks
I am gonna keep my sodium to under 2400
limit my caffiene instead of drinking pots and pots a day.
Keep my fats to 30 grams a day tops.
kep myself between 1500 to 2000 calories a day
Eat LOTS and LOTS of fruits and veggies
And dont eat or buy anything that has 6 grams of sugar per serving..
Keep control of portion size.
And drink water till my kidneys float!!!!!!!

To most of you that sounds easy but to me I hate eating breakfast lunch is just a passing thought but I eat at dinner time.
Basically the above mentioned is a diabetic diet. I had to go on that when I was pregnant with my last child . ( I was gestational diabetic) but I stayed on it after he was born . After he was born I weighed 317.5 (he only weigh a mere 10.4) by following that I got down to 286 within two months after my up and down Csection healed ( tranverse c-section I think it was called for which I wasnt healed for 2.5 months ) I didnt continue with that type diet only because those around me told me it wasnt good for me.. I have consulted a few nurses and a dietician at my doctors office and they all gave me the go-ahead telling me that it is perfectly safe to go by the guidelines of a diabetic diet..(One nurse asked me have I been checked for diabetes since the birth of my son, when I told her no she told me to REMIND my doc to check for that since I am in the high risk area since I am overweight and had history of gestational diabetes as well as my grandmom on my moms side was diabetic)
Also I checked out Barnes and Noble online and found out they have the walking videos from Leslie Sampson for 20.99 and I will be getting those since my hubby did put in overtime last night . I have a Barnes and Noble less then a mile away . The weather here today is GORGEOUS and BRIGHT and I am full of energy and I am in a really WONDERFUL state of mind today ..
I have NO idea why I am in such a great mood but dang it I am gonna get my @$$ in gear TODAY and get moving with this new beginning !!!!! Also I am QUITTING SMOKING once again !!!!! I start that Journey Tomorrow!!! Wish me luck .. I want to be Healthy as a horse and Light as a feather and I know I CAN And WILL do this .. Cause all you ladies are great and motivational whether you gals know it or not!!!!
Will write more later .. And I promise to say something to each of you ...
Take Care
Sheila

gemini 03-21-2002 06:28 PM

Wooooooooo Hoooooooo Sheila!!!! You go, girl!!! :strong:

BTW, You will be following a similar plan to what I follow. I did lots of research into the various popular diets (WW, JC, SB, Atkins, etc). I finally decided to combine the best components of all of them and do it on my own. I wanted a regimen I could work in real life, using regular food without going to extremes. I really believe that moderation is the key.

Glad you are feeling great. It was a beautiful day today, wasn't it? Did you get much snow yesterday> We got about 8 inches, but a lot melted today. Unfortunately, I spent most of the day indoors cleaning, but I got lots accomplished.

Talk soon...

Freckles 03-21-2002 11:15 PM

Hi!

I was just going to lurk here, but decided to stop in & say hi! I'm so... tired right now & have been kept extremely busy the last couple of days. Hopefully I'll have more time tomorrow. Good Night!

spryng 03-22-2002 11:08 AM

Good morning everyone!
Sheila your great attitude is contagious!! I'm so glad you posted! :D When I was pregnant with my first child I too was gestational diabetic. (so they said even though my sugar was NEVER high) She weighed 5 lbs 2 oz when she was born full term. Does that sound like a diabetic baby ... no. I think they were wrong. I wasn't diabebtic with my second baby. Anyway, the point is, I was on the diet you described too. You actually get to eat alot of food and that was great but at the time I was used to consuming 2 big macs and super sized fries and tons of pther stuff for one meal. So I felt like I was starving so I quit eating like they said and went back to regular eating. I gained alot of weight with that pregnancy. My highest was 185 with her. That was alot for me. especially since she was only 5lb2oz when she was born. But he plan sounds good now. I've just not been very motivated lately to lose. We have ate out every day for the past week. I did good yesterday, even with the take out, but I'm losing my will power. I'm back to 134 and holding. That's depressing. But I really do want to finish this. I just want it now. I'm so tired of dieting right now. I don't want to have to think about everything I put into my mouth and how it will effect me, you know? But I'm going to try harder. especially for you girls. I'm here to give as much as I get, and I get alot from you guys. So, hopefully soon we will buy me the treadmill and that will take care of my exercise problem and until then I'm going to try and make better food choices. No more fast food!!! At least for a couple of weeks. I need to eat healthier and smaller portions. So here goes a good try. :^:
Well, I guess I'll get off here. Have a great day all!!

Freckles 03-22-2002 11:27 AM

Good Morning Everyone!

I'm still extremely busy, but just to let you all know: I've read all of the posts while a 'peddlin! ;) Seeing that Spryngspost is fresh in my mind...I just want to say one thing to her & it also pertains to us all: Don't go back to your old ways, but stay OP so that you will not be in my shoes & have to feel depressed on how you gained most of it back & how long it will take to lose again! Believe me, I sure wish that I weighed 140#, or even l60# right now! Take Care everyone!!

gemini 03-22-2002 12:24 PM

I need some of Sheila's good vibes to rub off here, too. I had a terrible eating day yesterday. I don't know what my problem was. I let my bad choices from Weds. evening carry over to all day yesterday. I never got on my bike, and I don't even want to look at it now, although I will try to force myself on it this afternoon, because I know it will make me feel better.

I know a lot of this I can chalk up to PMS. I swear, I go through such a personality shift just before TOM. The worst part is that I know I'm in it, but don't know how to get out of it. Arrrgggghhh!

Anyway, I did make a good breakfast choice this morning, and have good choices planned for the rest of the day. I want to be good today and tomorrow because dh and I are going out for a "date" tomorrow night, and I want to be able to go to dinner and eat what I want without feeling guilty over eating crud for the past 3 days.

Talk soon...

spryng 03-22-2002 03:18 PM

Thank you Jackie for your kind words. And you are right. I don't want to gain everything back or even a little of it back just to begin anew again. I swore to myself that when I hit 139 I would never be 140 again. And I meant it. So today is going pretty good. I had some left over rice for breakfast (we really really need to go grocery shopping) and now I'm having a healthy choice meal for lunch. For dinner though I have no clue. But I'm going to try my best to have something that keeps my cals low today. I am craving fast food so bad right now! Can a person be addicted to fast food?? Nothing in general, just all fast food?? I think I may be.
Gemini, we can do this together. After about three days of eating good I don't usually break from it as easily, but it's those three days that are hard. Maybe if I went bathing suit shopping I would be more intent on losing the rest of this. Have somthing to work for again. I need a goal. My main goal was the wedding I was in and now that it is gone I don't have a date to work for. Maybe I should set one up. Hmmmm.... I have alot to think about. But my mood is improving as the day goes on. So there is hope yet!!

sheila061968 03-22-2002 05:40 PM

Hi Everyone!!!!!
Today I went out and bought one of Leslie Sansone walk away the pounds Tape.. They didnt have the whole set that I wanted so I know if I didnt get one I would lose momentum soooo I grabbed the 2 mile High calorie burn one.. I tried it out and I like it.. Although I was tired and worn by the 1.5 mile mark.. (they didnt have the first tape 1 mile walk) and I bought a pair of 3 pound weights since I couldnt find the recommended 2 pound ones.. Didnt think that 1 extra pound would do too much difference.. IT DOES!! My arms arent used to it but they will be.. I also bought an all in one Pilates tape which is 90 minutes long..I will attempt that tomorrow.. I might try that walking tape again tonight so I get can better at it.. I feel like a snail compared to the girls on the tape..LOL
I decided I will quit my smoking on Sunday since I will have more time alone and not around DH who smokes like a chimney..
Gemini We got like 8-9 inches of snow the other day I was bummed out.. Thats why I HAD to get those tapes I was sick in tired of it being too cold to go for walks.. (Plus I have a missing filling that I cant get in to se my dentist for a month there busy...) So cold air on an exposed nerve .............YEEEEOOOWWWCHHH ..
Yesterday I did flub up abit I had a fluffernutter.. But my calories were down 600 calories so I didnt hit the over daily limit Instead of 1500-2000 I only got 1354 for the day..I cleaned my entire kitchen and living room though so I guess I worked off a little bit .. Eating 3 times a day is rough I have to shop more to get some good stuff in here.. ( my kids ate all my good stuff):(
I bought a scale a digital one I hate it IT LIES!!!!!!!! (I hope  ) It said I weigh 265.5 so what I will do is use that number for when I weigh in ( Only once a week )So as of today I changed my signature and started off with that figure.. ( I am dealing with my TOM so I hope it will be lower when I am over it)
I feel PUMPED :strong: after doing that walk tape.. WHATTA RUSH!!!! And I am also proud to say I didnt have an asthma attack !!! ( I use to have attacks just walking down the street..)
Spryng They considered a 5 pound 2 oz baby a diabetic baby??? Yup they were wrong but thats my opinion.. In my state they get all weird if you have a 8 pound or more baby they think you have the possibility of diabetes.. I will tell you one thing I hated having to test every 5 hours my fingertips hurt like h*ll for two months afterward.. Alright! I am so glad to read the posts today! This is where my little motivation speech comes in.
You girls totally have what it takes to make it happen. If I can do it anyone can. Keep thinking what it will feel like when you meet your goal weight. While you are peddeling, walking and running. Visualize the thin you waiting at the end of your workout. Now is the time to take the control back.
Sheila, I'm so excited for you. It is so amazing what exercise does. Keep up the great work! Good luck with the smoking too hon. I'm pulling for you. It's a tough habit to kick.
Gemini, moderation is the key. In exercise and diet. Add alittle control and you have a sure fire plan.
Jackie, I'm glad to see you posting while you bike. You always give the best advice. It is so hard once you back slide on your diet.
Spryng, I was sorry to hear you were in the dumps. But then glad to see your spirits lifting as the day went on. It's so hard not to go back to old ways. This has to be a lifestyle change. Forever. You can do it. Look back at were you were this time last year. Just for fun, get a grocery sack and sit it on a scale then fill it with everything you can `till it is equal to how much you have lost. Go hand it to your Dh and tell him. I did this. It gave me a huge boost. My Dh could not believe it.
Ginny, how are ya?
I'm doing great girls. Op and all. My new goal is Mothers day. I'm having a photograph made withmy girls and I want to look great.

ECmom 03-23-2002 07:18 AM

Good Morning!!!!!!
Ginny is absolutely up to her eyeballs today............I have glanced at the posts and can see that most everyone else is busy too! Gotta go feed the hungry mob. Maybe I will get back on here later.
Miss you all!

Back on track. :) Got in a great workout this morning, and will eat terrific all day so that I can go out on "date" with dh tonight and enjoy myself. Thank you for all of the encouraging words... it really helps! :)

Dd had a sock hop at school last night. What a riot! She danced most of the night with a boy from her class. Holding hands and everything! :o He was a cutie... had his hair slicked back and wore cuffed jeans, a white t-shirt, and a leather jacket! Lordy, these kids are only 6... am I really ready for all this????:dizzy:

The only bummer of the night was that after returning home and packing lunches for dd and dh to take skiing today, getting kids to bed, etc., I realized that one of my diamond earrings is missing. I do not own very much jewlery... just my wedding bands, some pearls, a necklace, and these earrings. Dh bought me these as a total surprise last V-Day and they match my anniversary band I had gotten for Christmas, so they are also of huge sentimental value. :( I'm sure I lost it at the dance, and it's probably a lost cause. I will call our homeowners insurance on Monday to see if they will cover, but they could never replace sentiment. :(

Anyway... hope you all are well. Have a great weekend girls! Talk soon...

spryng 03-23-2002 10:59 AM

Good morning all.
Sounds like everyone is doing good. Sorry to hear about that earing Jen. I'm the same as you, I own very little "real" jewlery and if I lost one I would be devastated because each and every piece is special.
Well, I have decided to try something different today. I was on epinions.com and was reading peoples opinions about various diets and came across one that intrigued me. It's called Fit For Life. Heard of it? I have ordered the book on ebay. (well if I win anyway) And it sounds very neat and works very well. All the opinions were really good and everyone lost weight. Alot of weight fast. But it's not a calorie diet or low fat or high protein or anything like that. It's a cleansing diet that you can do forever. It's based on your bodies elimination process. You eat fruit until noon and then for the rest of your meals you do some food combining. You can eat anything but you can't mix carb with protein. So you can have a bowl of spaghetti with some garlic bread but no meat balls, or you can have that steak but no pasta or rice on the side, instead it said to have a large salad. And you consume alot of vegatbles. I don't know alot of details yet but that the gist of it. Sounds good to me. And you can have as much of the food as you need. No calorie counting. Oh, the reason you can't combine certain foods is because some foods nullify the digesting of others when they are consumed together. And they say the weight comes off fast because you eliminate most of your calories before they are absorbed. many of the posts said it works better than atkins. That's amazing to me because atkins works great. But anyway, I wanted to share my find with you girls and see what you thought. Have any of you ever been on it?? I don't have the book yet but I am trying to organize my meals today to kinda go along with those ideas. I had peaches for breakfast and 4 glasses of water and I feel good so far. Of course it's still early. I'm searching the net for more info because the auction doesn't end for another 6 days!! And I want to start right now. :) But anyway, I'm excited.
Misty, your pep talk was great! You must be feeling really good. And you are right. You and I had basically the same stats and if you can do it than I can too. :D I don't have much more to go, so I need to buckle down and take my body a little more seriously. I can do it!! You are so motivating.
Well, I had a late night. So I need to get off here and clean my house so that I can take a nap later with the kids. I'm going to need it. Why is it when you stay up too late your kids decide they want up extra early the next morning?? My kids always go to bed at 9:00 pm and sleep until 9:00 am. Today they wanted up before 8:00 am. That was hard on me. And I'm feeling it now. So I'll check in much later :) Have a great day all!!

Lilbitofsunshine 03-23-2002 01:18 PM

Good afternoon! Hope you all are having a great weekend!
Gemini, I'm so sorry about you losing your earring. I'm like you also. I don't own many pieces of nice jewlry. I hope your insurance helps even though it won't bring the sentiment back.
I'm glad my speech worked for you Spryng. It is true, you can do it. That diet sounds very interesting. Keep me informed about it. It just might be something I'm interested in. It all makes sense. Not eating pasta with steak. I hope you stay motivated with it. Sometimes we just need a change to get back on track.
As for me, I'm doing good. I had a little free time this morning and got to get out on the ATV. It was a brisk ride. That always helps me get centered and focused. There is a beautiful view on top of the mountain here. Garrett (my bestfriend and a dog) and I just sat and soaked up the peace. I've made some changes to my diet since I fell off the Adkins. So I'll share. I spoke with a nutritionist about my diet and exercise. She said with my work out I need more protein. So I started a protein shake. Let me tell you all, it was super gross. But I can tell a difference. I have alot more energy and didn't feel like overeating. Anyone who is interested in more info, just let me know! Well, have a great OP day!

spryng 03-23-2002 02:10 PM

I will keep you informed Misty. I haven't started it yet though. But go to epinions.com and check it out. I think you may really like it! What I'm going to do for the next few days is something different. remember that cleansing diet I told you all about that was in that womans day magazine? Well, I'm going to do a little of it. I'm not buying the supplements because I don't have extra money for that right now but I'm going to eat like it says too. I had fruit for breakfast and 3 cups of steamed green beans for lunch and I've downed 6 glasses of water already. I've been visiting the bathroom alot today. :o But I feel good. This may undo some of the damage I've done to myself lately by eating out so much and gaining 2 lbs back. I'm going to try and do this for a week or at least until I get that book but my DH is off tomorrow and it's hard to eat right when he is homw for two days in a row. But I'm going to try. It's low calorie anyway. But by eating fruit and steamed vegtables I'm giving my digestive system some much needed time off. :) I'm planning on some vegtable soup for dinner with lots of vegtables on the side. I haven't felt hungry yet today so something is filling me up. I hope this gives my metabolism a jump start so when I start Fit For Life the lbs will come off easily.
Well, just wanted to check in before my nap. Hope everyone is staying OP today. I'm rooting for ya!!

Freckles 03-24-2002 02:45 AM

Hi!

I should be sleeping! I actually did go to sleep, but an hour into my sleep, I woke up & couldn't get back to sleep!! It must have been from all the carbs that I ate @ 8:00 tonight. While I was clothes shopping, DH called me on my cell phone & requested that I bring home "Pappa Murphy's Pizza" for dinner. Well, I'm a glutten for punishment & gave in & brought one home! I ended up eating 2 pieces & a little sliver of another. :( I'm sure all the carbs in that pizza is keeping me awake. I'm also down in the dumps due to not finding anything that looked good on me. I had another light bulb moment when I examined the skirt that I just took off that was a little snug on me & I couldn't believe how large the waistband looked! I'm still trying to figure out why I gave in to pizza tonight. Well, it's over & done now & I'm going to move on & try to have a better OP day on Sunday & the days following. :s: Spryng: If you are getting antsy for the Fit For Life book; see if you can borrow a copy from your local library. I checked out the book, along with the book on tape at my community library last year & I think I'll check out the tape again. I see that you are making good choices already. (Just stay away from the fast food, okay?) The soup sounds delicious! This is one tastey way to eat those veggies. Gemini: Sorry to hear about the loss of your earring. If I lived in your town, I'd help you search for it. Maybe you could check their lost & found or ask the janitor or the clean-up crew if they found it. I'm sure you probably have done this already. Sounds like your dd had a lot of fun at the Sock Hop. Oh!, those good old days when we were not self-consious on the way that we looked when we danced! Good for you on the great workout too! How was your date with your DH? I was supposed to do the same tonite with my DH, unfortunately, plans backfired & had the alternative... PIZZA!! Misty: A mountain view? I'm jealous!! ;) The extra protein in the diet sounds interesting. I'd like more info about it myself. If you'd like, you could send me a private message with the info, okay? I used to be on a Formu-3 plan, lost a lot of weight on the plan & unfortunately, gained it all back, had another baby, gained more weight, quit working, gained some more, etc. Formu-3 had protein packets that you added to juice or milk & they also had some of their own protein bars. I think it was a different type of protein, with amino acids or something. I think Formu-3 went out of business, as I can't find a website for them. Oh!, thanks for the motivational speech you gave a few posts back, it's just what I needed to hear! Ginny: It looks as though your lifestyle is as busy as mine has been lately. I'm trying to increase my vitamin intake to get more energy. :spin: Hope to see you post more sometime soon! Sheila: Sounds like you have your motivation all fired up! Wow! Good for you! My best goes out to you on your attempt to quit smoking, what a challenge in itself! Once the weather warms up, the fresh air should help you along, both with the frustration part & the cleaning out your lungs part with the aerobic workout you will be getting out in the fresh air. Question for you: What the heck is a fluffernutter? I hope you enjoyed every bite of it, whatever it is! And for my favorite snack: Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches & I also like popcorn popped in the microwave. I make my own microwave popcorn bag poppers by dumping unpopped popcorn into a paper bag, close it up & micro for 5-6 min. I don't put any oil in the bag, just the popcorn. I then later squirt on some I can't believe it's not butter spray & also sprinkle a little popcorn salt on it too. Well, it looks as though I have addressed all of you that have posted recently. I'm getting tired now, so I'll close for now & try to get some zzz's.

gemini 03-24-2002 09:14 AM

Gee Jackie, you sure were up late! Hope you got in some sleep after all. Don't fret about the pizza... what's done is done. Today is a new day! :D

Spryng, good luck with the new diet! I hope it works for you. It definitely sounds interesting. I actually remember seeing that book floating around my work a few weeks ago. I will ask around and see if there was someone who was trying it out.

Misty, how're your shakes coming? Your description made them sound like something they make those people drink on that show Fear Factor! :p Sounds like you had a great time with the pup, though. I can totally relate... Sadie is my best dog friend and I love sharing outdoor time with just her. :)

Sheila, how's the smoking going? Sending you lots of "quit" vibes!

Date with dh last night was GREAT! :D We went to a Japanese steakhouse where they cook the food in front of you. What a delight! We waited 90 minutes to be seated, but it was well worth it. I splurged with not 1, but 2 pina coladas! :o Oh, but they were so yummy! And I don't feel the slightest bit guilty. I ate very well and sparingly throughout the day so that I could really enjoy myself last night. Soon, I will get on my bike and do my darndest to ward off "pina colada" butt!

Well, gotta get my butt in gear and get the pork roast in the crockpot for dinner tonight. Busy day today with 4 yr old ds starting hockey this afternoon. What a riot that should be!

I hope everyone is doing well! Talk soon...

ECmom 03-24-2002 03:32 PM

Will life ever get simple??????? Will I ever have sanity or even a little piece of it? Ok- back to normal here........thanks for letting me vent.

Jen- so sorry to hear about your earring! I stand with you and Spryng and do not have all that much jewelry. Your insurance should pick it up. Good luck.

Spryng- I have heard of Fit for life- and actually had a book of theirs for a few years. (another ebayer there, eh?) Hope that you won the auction.

A busy weekend this has been. I have not eaten all that well and I got a quick walk in. Gotta go! Maybe I will get on later.
Ginny

Freckles 03-24-2002 10:18 PM

Good Evening!

Ginny: Mine hasn't gotten any easier! ;) Gemini: I didn't go to bed @ 7:00 this a.m.! Somehow the time posted said that! I went to bed around 2:30 a.m. & woke up around 6:30 this morning. Oh, oh! DH needs me to e-mail something for him. I'll try & check back later.

spryng 03-25-2002 01:08 AM

Do I have GREAT news!!

Guess what!! I lost 5 more lbs!! Down to 129!!! Can you believe it???:D I was so excited about it today. I've been gone all day or I would have posted earlier. But 5 entire lbs!! I told you I was combining diets. I haven't got my fit for life book but have been reading tons of info on it lately. It sounds really good. The only thing I did yesterday according to it was eat fruit until noon. I ate peaches. Then for lunch I had a huge bowl of green beans. Then DH came home with Taco Bell for dinner and I thought , uh oh, here goes me blowing my diet. But I calculated the calories and it wouldn't put me over 1100 for the day so I had one burrito supreme and two regular hard tacos. My total cals for yesterday was 1067. and I drank 8 glasses of water and all that. Well I went to the bathroom constantly yesterday. I guess I was retaining a ton of water. But I thought for sure that taco bell food would limit any loss I would get. Well, I got up this morning, emptied my bladder and stepped on the scale and it read 129. So I got off and back on 5 times and it said the same thing everytime! 129!! A five lb loss in 24 hours!! I was so amazed! I read that just eating fruit until noon everyday will make a difference in ones weight loss and boy were they right! Today I ate more calories but still had fruit until noon. I feel really good right now. And so excited. :dizzy: If any of you are in a stall or have excess water to shed try it! It really works!! I am so happy.
Well, enough about that. I just really wanted you guys to know.
But you are right. I need to quit the fast food and soon. Even though it didn't hurt me yesterday I know in the long run it is not good for me. Plus I'm on over drive with it lately. I need to ease up alot. I'll do better tomorrow.
Well, it's after midnight here and we have alot to do tomorrow. Oh, if I don't post for a few days don't worry. Our internet bill is due and my DH doesn't get paid till thursday so it might get turned off for a couple of days until he gets paid. But I will be back. Hopefully I'll be able to post tomorrow. Until then!!!!

gemini 03-25-2002 12:15 PM

Huge congrats to you, Spryng!!!!!! :strong:

Ginny and Jackie... sending you de-stressing vibes! :)

How is everyone else?

I have great news, too, ladies... (although, not weight-related)
I sent a note to school with dd about my lost earring. I just got back this morning from picking up ds at school to find a message on my machine from dd's school... they have my earring!!! :D They will send it home with dd in a sealed envelope. YIPPEEEEE!

Well, oof to get the baby in for a nap, and I'm all geared up for a good workout before lunch. Talk soon...

sheila061968 03-25-2002 12:31 PM

 hi Everyone
My weekend went pretty good. I have only done my walking video twice since Friday though.. That one is intense and I guess I need to get my body adjusted to the new way of working it.. I am talking the outside muscle on my legs ache big time as well as the under muscle of the upper arms ( I didnt know there was a real muscle there. )
I am a bit leery of the Pilates Video since I have a spare tire I want to get rid of before I can keep pace of the tape..But I will do it ( I havent even watched it yet) I think thats what I will do after I am done on the computer..
I went shopping last night and I think I made good food buys.. I bought bananas and apples and oranges rice cakes and bagels and even bought some WW soda ( chocolate fudge and root beer , Both are sugar and calorie free) and I bought some pop corn kernals that I have to pop in a pan (Not the microwave kind) That way I can put my own salt or butter if I want ( although I wont used either) I have tuna and light mayo and a few other things I cant think of right now.. Oh yes, cant forget the salad fixings.. and light itlaian dressing..I THINK I did pretty good.
I decided to just blow off my daughters remarks..She has been "kinda" edging on my wrong side lately.. In fact when I told her I was gonna quit smoking she had some wisegal remark like " What attempt is this?? Why bother afterall you will just fail again.. So I have decided I wanna make her eat those words Let her find out her remarks wont get to me.. (Although I feel kinda weird if I get caught working out to my tape in front of my DH.. ) This morning I started my workout and got to the .50 mile point when he came home I hurriedly shut off the tape so he wouldnt see me.. I have yet to be able to keep up with the pace of the instructor . But I am trying as hard as I can.. PLus I cant do the weights as long as the tape can (they use 2 pounds I use 3 pound weight)
Anyway Hope your day is going well I am still having this feeling I need to step on the scale no matter that I promised myself that I would weigh in once a week.. It is hard the temptation is there and I know that if I did lose any weight it would all be the water retention from dealing with my TOM..

Gemini: Thats great that they found your earing!!!!!

Spryng: Congrats on the 5 pound loss!!!! But are you "peached" out by now?? I think I am on a good track but we will see on friday when I weigh myself.. I too go to different spots of my house just to make sure the reading is accurate..

Well HAve a great day I will check in later
Take Care
Sheila

So far I drank 24 ounces of water today just need to put in 48 ounces to make up for the water dyhydration I get for the 3 cups of coffee I had this morning.. (hmmm does WW soda count as water??? or not??) BYEeeeeeee
