So I'm new here and am not really familiar with how to 'keep up' with the threads and posts. There are tons of them and there seems to be so much good information but how do you keep up? I am at work so I'm checking when I can but I get so far behind it seems. Any advice on what you do?
Here's what I do... if you look at the top of each forum there's a tab with a drop down arrow that says "forum tools". One of the options is to subscribe to the forum (w/ or w/out email notification). I subscribe to the forums I'm interested in.
The other thing you can do is set your preferences so that any thread you post in, you're automatically subscribed to ... I do that as well.
Then when you go to your user cp, you see a list of "your" threads and a list of "your" forums. That helps me keep up with things w/out having to check every single board.
It was overwhelming for me at first as well, I was unable to remember where I posted etc., but I survived without "subscribing". I am not saying it is a bad thing - I am trying to explain that as you get used to the forums, you will remember better which forum you saw a certain post in, or where to go to look for answers to your own posts. In a week, you won't even remember it was overwhelming at first!
I tend to click "New Posts" at the top as well....its a fast moving forum and that way I can see what I have missed since my last visit... ( which is usually only 5 mins before! LOL )
I'm also addicted to the "New Posts" link. It is also helpful to me to have one or two places where I post regularly, so that even if I get really behind, I can go to those forums (for me, Weight Loss Support and Living Maintenance's No Excuses threads) to see what's up.
If I'm looking for any thread in which I've already posted (but I didn't subscribe to it or have forgotten which thread it was), I go to QUICK LINKS, then MY PROFILE, and then I click on: "Find all posts by _____" (my user name).
That way, I can easily see any updates to the threads I've already been a part of but may have chosen not to subscribe to.
