2lbs a week is recommended....
but people tend to loose quicker when they first start the weight loss journey....
its also worth remembering some weeks you will lose more lbs that others....
at my current pace the maximum i would loose in 4 weeks is 8lbs....
otherwise i would have joined you in your goal....
i wish you luck with your journey....

Even if you don't lose all 10 lbs ... you can certainly be slimmer. Would that be OK with you?

It's so hard to feel so desperate about losing weight. I think we've all been there.

I think in those situations people often take drastic steps to lose the weight and then rebound afterwards -- gaining it back and then some!

So, I guess I'm wondering why you feel you need to lose that weight so fast.

As for whether it's possible, it may be, depending on how much weight you have to lose. If you have a lot to lose you may be able to lose 10 pounds in 4 weeks pretty easily. But if you only have 10 pounds to lose, it is going to be much harder.

It's definately possible if you are just starting a diet program. Just make sure you do it healthily

It also depends on how much you have to lose. If you are only 10 pounds overweight I'd bet it is going to come off pretty slowly.

I am 5'3 and about 126 I think. Im not OVERWEIGHT as in overweight but Im not that nice thin fit I want to be. I think it will be pretty hard but I am planning on finally starting a diet and sticking to it. I would realllly like to join someone with a similiar goal maybe sharing plans or something?? I have tried to diet honestly I dont even know how many times but this time I really want to stick to it

The 10 pounds in four weeks may be tough, but why not bump up the exercise, even if the weight doesn't go that quick, if you tone up what you have, you could probably "look 10 pounds lighter" and continue to work on losing the weight, in a healthy way. Good luck.

Hrm. I don't think you need to lose weight then, so much as you might want to start building muscle. That makes a huge difference in how we look.

Nora -- It sounds like you aren't so much overweight as unhappy with how your body looks and have only a few pounds to lose. I suggest you take a look at our featherweights forum, as there are lots of women in your situation.

I think faerie's right, that weight lifting might be just the thing for you to look into -- it can really help tone and change your body shape. However, you may not achieve the results in a few short weeks... you may need to make a longer-term commitment to get to where you want.
