It's taken me a year (it will be a year on Saturday) to lose 105 pounds. Basically calorie counting (online tracker) and a heck of a lot of exercise.

I've lost 31 pounds in about 5 months. Everyone is different.
I've been counting calories, using some Slim Fast, exercising a lot.

It has taken me 51 weeks to lose what I have lost. I am the turtle but that is ok, the turtle aways wins the race. I stay within some basic ranges for myself of calories, fat and carbs and I exercise every weekday. There is no such things as doing without or haveing off limit foods. I stay within certain ranges and make sure I get the required amounts of the four basic food groups each day.

It took me about ten months to lose 100lbs.
Then I regained 20/30
Then I lost 20/30
Then I regained 20
Now I'm losing 20 (4lbs to go until lowest)
So far 16 months and counting.
Going to hit goal this year if it kills me!

Oh and exercise... started with the gym (bike etc) moved into running last summer, winter was bad (let's skip past that bit shall we! refer to regain/lose lol) and now the weather is fine back out running and also hitting weights etc

Anything and everything!

I lost 24 lbs. in 5 months four years ago, gained back 3 or 4, and lost another 15 or so since October, so about 6 months for that. It's definitely going more slowly as I get closer to my goal, but as long as I stay focused it comes off bit by bit. It looks like it took five years overall but I wasn't really working at it in between. That said, continuing my lifestyle change throughout allowed me to maintain give or take a few, so when I started this last push it wasn't from square one, thank goodness.

Every pound lost was through calorie counting, regular exercise, and an active daily routine (walking and biking whenever possible, getting outside and exploring on weekends, etc.).

A bit over a year to lose 70-ish lbs.

I count calories and try to eat "clean" (minimal processed foods), but I didn't really see the loss kick in solidly until I started getting serious about working out. When I hired a trainer and really started pushing myself with hard cardio and weights was when I saw the most progress.

As of Jan this year I've slacked a little - my eating hasn't been as clean and I've had a hard time making it to the gym regularly due to travel and work committments, so my loss has slowed considerably. But I'm kicking it back into gear this month and I'm hoping to knock out the last 35 lbs I want to lose by the end of this year.

It's taken me just under 2 years to lose 45 pounds. When it comes to slow, I'm your girl. I lost the first 30 fairly easily, mostly by swimming laps like a maniac. Then I moved and joined a gym, and the weight just stopped coming off. Probably because I wasn't working hard enough on the elliptical. I gave up for a little while but only gained back 5 vacation pounds.

Then I got serious again just before the beginning of this year and started working out with my sister, who is an exercise physiologist and shares my genetic predisposition for stubborn fat. Since then I've lost 15 more, and I'm stalled again so I'm ramping up the cardio a lot and hoping to break through this plateau as well. It sucks, I won't lie. But I try to remind myself that the fact that it's taking so long means I won't gain it back quickly. And I've definitely made long-lasting changes in my eating and fitness levels, so here's hoping I only have to do this once.

Today is my 14-month anniversary of eating better. I chose to count calories. No food is off-limits. Anything in reasonable portions, that's been the key for me. Try to walk every day.

During the past 14 months, I've lost 53 pounds. Stared out losing 5 pounds per month the first 7 months. Had a couple of month-long plateaus during that time. Now losing about 3 pounds a month but I expect that will slow down even more the closer I get to my goal. But that's okay, I'm not in any hurry.

I started counting calories almost 4 mos ago and I've lost 25 lbs so far. The weight is coming off slower than with any other plan I've done, but that's b/c I'm not trying to starve myself like other times. I figured this is the way I'm going to have to eat from now on. I have had a few slips along the way, but I just pick myself up and keep going.

Unfortunately I'm currently battling my exercise dislike. I don't like working out at all, but I also know that it's an essential part of any healthy living. That's one of the issues that is still unresolved for me.

Best of luck to you and make sure you stick around this website, it's the thing that keeps me going!

You guys are killin' me! It's taken me a year to get rid of 20 pounds! I guess I could get it to move a little faster, but I'm trying to really make this a lifestyle and not just a diet....

But still....
