Angry How do you guys stay on track?

I have been dieting for about a month now, hardly any time at all in comparison to the amount i want to loose (about 100lbs) and i just cant seem to stay on track, i have at least one day a week where i eat lots of naughty things and then the next day i feel really badly and work hard for the next week or so then i will have another naughty day, i do excercise but probably not as much as i should, i feel really annoyed with myself and saddened that i cant even keep it together for a few weeks, any ideas?
Thanks guys

Why not just incorporate that "cheat" day into your routine? that is what alot of people do. Especially people who have to diet for the long haul. I mean, if this is a lifestyle change, its not realistic to say...I WILL NEVER HAVE CAKE AGAIN. How bout, i will only have cake on fridays, or whatever. That is what i do and it REALLY helped me keep it to only eating poorly the one day a week. I lost 110 lbs doing that and i never felt bitter that others could eat *fill in blank* but i could not. So now i know i can have *fill in blank* on friday. It keeps me from binging and feeling deprived. Its just more realistic for something i can stay on forever.

I know just how you feel Kimberley. I've struggled for the better part of my life and have experienced so much frustration. Two things are working for me now - an eating plan where I don't feel hungry or deprived (most of the time), and getting to the core of the emotions that drive me to eat. The second part is hard and I struggle constantly. But I can say that spending my time on the "head" part has made the actual sticking to a diet part easier - but there are some hard days too. I think Stacy's idea is great - having one cookie won't harm your weight loss efforts, but eating lots of them will. But of course we never want just one...which is where the "head" part comes in. Food chemically alters the brain, especially junk food - it provides calm, and can help numb you from all kinds of things - just like drugs really. So it makes sense that it's so hard to change your habits. I'll also say that after being able to stick to my plan for nearly two months - the junk is far less appealing. It's so worth the hard work, not just to lose the weight, but to never feel guilty, overstuffed or just plain yucky from eating unhealthfuly.

Best wishes and we're here for ya!
