  • Lol! I used to work at Petco (where the pets go) and I would lift and fling around those 40lb. bags... I realized that I needed to lose two of them! Then I think about all that weight pushing down on my knees and other joints.
Didjaever has it right about cherishing each and every lb. lost! A lb. of potatoe salad at a time and b/f you know it - a whole bag of dog food gone!!
  • yep yep yep--- when I start to get the ol' "but I've *only* lost this much" I pull up those images of people holding up those 5 pounds of fat models... and I look at that and go UGH---- I lost FIVE of those already!!! yuck yuck yuck-- so glad that's not IN me anymore!

My mom likes to take the pound of butter example. . . Put 5 boxes of BUTTER in your cart.. that's five pounds!!! that's a lot of butter! Then put more... every little loss you make, every "little 1 pound" is a whole box of butter. Makes you rethink things...

Better to take off a pound at a time then put ON a pound at a time!
  • Not only have I lost 3 40# dog food bags, but because I'm lifting weights I can pick one up a whole lot easier!!!
  • oh my gosh! imagine toating an ADULT everyone with you everywhere you go!!! LOL that's funny because I never thought of it that way! and it really does put it into perspective for me!! thanx..its motivating too! because who wants to carry a 40 lb bag of dog food OR a grown person around with them...because i have 100+ lbs i hope to get off of me ultimately.
  • Interesting. You know a gallon of water (or tea or milk, whatever) weighs almost 10 pounds (I think it's 8.3 or somewhere there about) ... can you imagine carrying FOUR gallons of water everywhere you go? I'm tired just thinking about it!
