How often do you weigh yourself?
Daily? Couple times per day? Couple times a week? Once a week? What's a scale? lol
Be honest though, how often do you jump on the scale and weigh yourself? |
I weigh myself every morning. I like to see the daily ups and, hopefully, more downs. I've been charting everything in hopes of finding patterns of things I might need to work on or times to expect a slight rise. I've already been able to see that I don't lose as much when I'm not working as when I am. My scales show tenths of a pounds so I'm happy to even see a tenth or two loss. It keeps me going.
I weigh on Fridays, which is my official weigh-in day. I will very occasionally jump on during the week just to see where I am, but I don't think frequent weighing is very helpful if you're inclined to stress out about each and every ounce. The daily weighing works for some, but for others it just seems to cause more emotional torment than is strictly necessary. :)

Once a day (unless I am away from my scale). It drives me nuts sometimes; but when it goes down, it really keeps me motivated!
I chart everything as well. I keep track of average weekly and monthly losses. I also keep a column for "my weight a week ago" and "my weight a month ago" It helps me spot trends, and balance out those days where the number went in the wrong direction. |
Almost everyday. When I don't, I also ignore healthy behaviors. It keeps me on plan.
i usually weigh everyday, but this week I am trying out a new plan, and I want to see what lose I have in one lump sum :) .. so I guess my answer is.. normally everyday..
Everyday!
It keeps me on plan. I used to weigh once a week but that day I went off plan since "I had all week to make it up". I was cheating myself, not very clever, I know, but I did it. I only move my ticker mondays and thursdays.. Ahh and I bought a great digital scale.. it shows every 100 grs (here we use kilos) so I then convert that to pounds. |
Every Monday morning after the potty, and in the buff. I also take my measurements once a month.
Knowing that I am weighing in on Monday morning helps me stay on track for the weekends. |
Once a week when I remember. It would drive me nuts to weigh more than that. Although, there have been a couple of times I have weighed twice a week...bad eating week and I wanted to see the damage if any and stay on top of it.
Daily, but only "count" Monday weigh-ins at my TOPS meeting. If I forget, I also tend to forget to keep track of what I'm eating.
Daily, to keep myself in-check. I only count it on Mondays.
I, along with my Sister and Brother-in-law weigh in each week. This was our first week and I lost 9lbs!!!! I am so psyched! I injured my ankle 2 weeks ago and haven't been able to excercise, but I have really made changes in my diet. I know I won't have weight losses this big each week, BUT....it really gave me the encouragement I needed.
I weigh a couple times a day but I only "count" my morning weight.
I get on my scales everyday.....It keeps me more focused!!!
I weigh every single morning and record it in an excel chart. I even travel with my scale because 1 missing day on that chart would really bother me. I have found that being able to see it daily (measured to the tenth) on a graph gives me a great idea of how unimportant the tiny fluctuations are, but at the same time, how the fluctuations over time can effect the overall trend. Now that my graph is like 150+ days strong, it really is quite fun to look at. But back to the question, once/day.
good topic.... I weigh myself daily, always have. i think it def keeps me on track, its also interesting to see, when im at my peak weight of the day.Obviously i only count my morning weight. Its a bit obsessive, but if it works, it works.
Once a month I weigh and measure. Any more frequently and I get too crazy and obsessive.
Once a day :)
daily*, and record it, but only new lows make the ticker as long as I am staying OP. If I have been off plan a lot then I put in Monday's weight
* daily in my case means any morning I get up and manage to find my way to the scale before anything else. With 2 kiddos and a 5 am workout daily is really about 3-4 times a week. |
Once a week.
I just can't handle the ups and downs of weighing in every day. And for the longest time I couldn't even step on a scale... When I first started this journey I opted against weighing in and just took measurements. I had to break my unhealthy obsession with the scale. :o I' pretty glad I did though, because now I'm pretty happy with myself whether or not I'm losing. But recently every sunday morning I've hopped on that scale...even when I've been sure I'll gain. I still measure every week too. |
it really depends on the week. Sometimes once a day, sometimes once a week, sometimes once every 2 weeks. I'm trying to give myself time- because weighing in to often drives me crazy!
Well officially for recording purposes once a week on Saturday, but I do weigh every morning to make sure I'm staying on track!
I weigh myself every morning. Like so many have already said, it keeps me focused, a bit of a reminder when the day starts.
I used to weigh myself daily, I need to get back to doing so.
Weighing in
I weigh myself every Tuesday, I am doing weight watchers, but not going to the meeting, because I can't afford it. I got all my stuff from my mother who does go to the meetings and she weighs every Tuesday. So I weigh myself every Tuesday and we call each other and either congratulate each other or gripe. I won't lie, I do sneak on between but I try not to because sometimes it is depressing.
I weigh myself daily at the same time, with no clothes on, but I average the weights out and "count" the average at the end of the week. That was an idea that I got from someone here and it has worked out really well. I track my daily weight in Fitday (pc version) and I make a note if I have eaten salty food the night before, if I haven't been drinking enough water, or if I am on my period etc. so that I can "explain" the weight to myself! It helps to see the ups and downs and I feel like I am getting an accurate weight by averaging the numbers out.
I weigh myself every morning after going "potty". I record it. I have been doing this now for the 104 days I have been on my journey of better choices.
I know there are mixed feelings about weighing every day amongst us. For me, it seems to work as my goal is to focus on just one pound at a time. If I see the scale go up a pound I work a little harder the next day to get it down and maintain it as I work on one more. |
I have never owned a scale in my life. I am weighed once a year by the doctor at my annual physical. However, I've noticed a trend of gaining about 10-15 pounds per year, and it always surprises me to see that. So I think I need to go buy a scale and regularly weigh myself so I can stay on track.
I find myself weighing about 3 times a day. I record my first weigh in of the day. I like to see how my weight fluctuates during the day. It really helps me to understand my body. I don't mind if it goes up by the time i go to bed at night. I've learned alot about my weight by doing this...and it works for me. It may not work for everyone to weigh three times a day but it does for me.
I put my feet on scale once in a month to see where I am .I feel that I am gaining the weight slowly. The scale tells me about the progress in my weight. This enable me to take necessary steps keep my weight according to my desire.
I force myself to weigh once a day. Like everyone has said, it helps to keep me on track. I'm a lot less likely to overindulge when I know I will be getting on the scale the next morning and will be diappointed if the number goes up. My weight got out of control in the first place because I'm the queen of denial and just keep overeating and telling myself that I had probably only gained 5 pounds (when it was really 15) or that my pants were tighter because the dryer shrunk them. The scale keeps me honest, even if it is frustrating sometimes and easy to get discouraged when the numbers vary for no apparent reason...

i'm with lumifan4ever on this one. It really helps me to calm down when i see a high number on the scale. Because i've learnt how my body fluctuates, i can usually put it down to one of many reasons and it also lets me know when i've had too much salt or (The obvious one) eaten too much that day.

I weigh once a week and thats on Friday - gives me a more acurate reading of where I am with my goal
