Default Honesty and an update

OK, so when I first started lurking and then even posting I had not been on the scale in months. Some of you may have seen my posts regarding scales and weigh-ins. I set up my ticker based on what I thought I probably weighed given how I felt and how my clothes fit. Last week I finally got onto the scale and it was ten pounds heavier than I thought!!! I decided then and there that I was going to start weighing myself regularly so I would be more accountable and since I was cutting back on the alcohol and increasing my exercise I figured it would only go down. Well, today I got on that &*$@ thing again and I have gone down three pounds!!! Plus, I've got PMS symptoms so I'm thinking it's going to be down even more next time I get on. I've updated my ticker and I'm on my way!!!!!! Woo Freakin' Hoo!!!

congrats. I can't guess my weight from the way my clothes fit at all. I need numbers to work with, keeps me from saying "well these pants still sorta fit" when I can barely button them up haha.

I weighh every AM but only use my Friday number to see what I have lost for the week.

DEAR 10 ~ a similar thing happened to me too; I was lurking around here for a few months before I actually joined. When I signed up, I really didn't know how much I weighed either (cuz I didn't have any scales); so I put down the weight at my last weigh-in at the docs the year before (which was 307); but I now know that I actually weighed 312 + plus I had gained 8 lbs over the winter (Christmas season did me in); so I actually weighed 320 lbs.

That's essentially why I came here in the first place, becuz I knew I was slipping back into old, bad habits again. I was devastated when I saw the the real weight this spring when I got my new scales. I think that this happens to a lot of people. As much as I loathe the scales, they are a great reality check; I had no idea that I weighed in the 300's when I got weighed by the doc in late 2006. Later on, I found out my highest weight from the hospital from 1-2 years ago.

ANYWAYS, I felt embarrassed to change it, so now you have given me the nudge I needed to get at it. I have lost 2 lbs of that now, so I actually weigh 318 lbs; and I am desperately trying to get going again; hence the 10 lb mini-goal, below. I do have a problem also with water-weight fluctuations, as my legs swell each day (from 3-5 lbs), but I hope this will stop once I get down a little more.

Tuff as it is, I feel relieved about it all; so, thanx for your update! ROSEBUD

This happened to me a few years ago, in fact it was the reason I started losing weight in the first place. Throughout highschool I was a size 12 then a 14 then back to a 12 and then a 10 finally when I got out of highschool I had made to an 8 during one summer I never wore anything that required a button or zipper or a number on the tag (meaning I basically just wore M and L sizes) when it was time for me to start wearing my jeans again I tried on my 8s and the wouldn't fit. So I weighed myself thinking that I was still 145 but the scale said 170. I was so angry at myself for letting that happen. After that I began eating more healthy and exercising more and lost the 25lbs. Then some time after that I lost another 10 then gained about 5 back and later found this place and it's been great for me. As I'm sure it will be for you.

Regaining the weight I have lost is one of my biggest fears. I know it would be *sooo* easy to do. I weigh myself every day, and once I hit goal I plan to continue to do the weekly weigh ins. I know it is hard, but I really believe you made a wise a choice in climbing back on even though you weren't looking forward to the truth it told. Good for you for getting back on track!
