I see a lot of people, like myself, mention having lost a lot of weight before, regained it and then some. This time around, I have gotten to the weight that last time around made me want to cry. Last time, my highest was 199 and I remember feeling like the biggest cow on the planet. This time around, I don't feel the same. I feel like I'm a lot more fit than I was last time. Does anyone else who has "been there, done that" feel different at this weight than you did last time?
I definitely do! It's interesting how different it seems on the way up than on the way down. I'm thrilled to now be at a weight that is really still too high for me (But this is a temporary stop).
I have to say, though, that I am much more fit and healthy now, on the way down, than I was on the way up. And that's a tremendously good thing!
Hi LeedaRenee,
I completely hear you! The last time I was this weight was 15 years ago (ow, that hurts to say) and I felt like a tub of lard. Now I'm walking 3 miles at a time, wearing a size 16 (down from 24/26) and feeling pretty darn good about myself. Maybe it's maturity? (I just turned 50-that's gotta be good for something.) Lisa
Last time I didn't see results until I was 195 pounds or so. That was when I went from a 18 to a 16.
This time from all the running I have been doing, my body is totally different and I have been in a 16 since I was about 216 pounds. I hope it means that each size is easier to get to, but I doubt it would be that easy.
I have to say, last time I lost the first 30 or so pounds doing South Beach alone, no exercising. Then I quit SB and went to step aerobics 5 days a week and lost another 10 pounds. Then I got a job and couldn't make aerobics class anymore and since I wasn't eating great it all came back.
This time around I am making certain to change both my eating habits and exercise habits and I think it is showing early on. I totally get what you are saying though. Last time when I was 213 pounds (where I am today) I was horrified!
Oh definitely. As I was going down in weight this time, I distinctly remember being certain weights and knowing for sure that I was smaller, narrower and waaay fitter and more active this time around, then when I had previously weighed the same in the past. Exercise was not much a part of my equation previously. I'm pretty sure that's what it has to do with. I never want to be without exercise again.
LeedaRenee, I'm glad you're feeling so fit. It's a great feeling. Congratulations on all the weight you've lost thus far. Keep up the good work!!! And may I just add - you have a fantastic smile. Great avatar.
After loosing 30 lbs, I am back where I started last time I lost weight. For sure I look much better than I did at 182 and I think, because of that comparison, I don't feel so bad at 151. I just need to keep going for another 20 or so lbs. Now, if I have only learned enough to keep it off this time.
