I have a question for those who weigh in once a week like me. Is there anything you do the day/night before to assure the most accurate number? Tomorrow is my first weigh in being 100% OP and I just want want to be sure I don't have any unpleasant suprises. So what do you do? Example...
Do you stop eating at a certain time or a certain amount of time before bed?
I weigh myself every day, but I only "count" and record it on Mondays. I feel that it makes me stay more the course during the difficult weekend period.
As far as being more accurate, well there's nothing special that I do. What could possilby make it more accurate? Do you mean like staying away from salty things? And drinking lots of water? I try and do those things every day, that being part of my plan.
I'm not sure about accuracy, but if it's a LOSS that I'm after, the only way to semi-insure that - is to stay STRICTLY on plan for the week prior to my weigh-in, not just the day or night before.
I usually go to be around 11:30 and stop eating around 9 - 9:30 any earlier than that and I wake up in the middle of the night starving. And I have been OP pretty much all week, except for Monday, but even that was a good day.
And by accuracy I meant what to do or not do to avoid things like water weight gain or anything like that.
Thanks Jay, actually I'm not all that worried. I just want to make sure I avoid anything that I think would be okay but would end up causing bloating in the morning, (like chinese food)
I don't do anything special. You just have to realize there will always be fluctuations in your weight. You are concerned with losing fat, but the scale weighs ALL of you (fat, muscle, skin, water, bone, hair and undigested food!). No matter what, there will be variations. You just have to accept that as part of the package...
i dont do anything special except for avoid alcohol...i always bloat with alcohol...but other than that...nope...nothing special. Just the same thing i do everyday.
I dont do anything special the day before, but I do try to weigh naked at the same time of day every day but only count what I weigh on monday. I just jot down what I weigh everyday.
Thanks everyone. I think I'll be okay tomorrow since today I didn't have anything really fatty or a lot of salt and I did drink 14 glasses of water. Plus I did 45 minutes of high intensity aerobics.
That right there makes me weigh more on weigh in day alot of times. I only use Friday's morning weigh in as my "official" weight...but when i work out hard and my muscles are sore, i weigh more. But I do try to drink lots of water before i go to bed. It seems to help push out alot of trapped fluids and give me a more "accurate" weight, I suppose. but other than drink lots of water, i don't do anything special before weigh in day. Just do the best i can to stay on plan all week and I weigh everyday and keep a tracking so i can see how my body likes to fluctuate. As long as the fluctuating numbers keep fluctuating in a downward motion, i try not to let it worry me too much. Good luck. I'm sure your weigh in will go great!!
I'm down one pound so I'm happy. I guess drinking the extra water before bed helped a lot.
Lumifam4ever- I know what you mean about exercising ane gaining. I used to think that if I did high intensity aerobics and then weighed myself I would see a loss, finally I realize that my muscles need to time to relax. So exercising intensly one afternoon and weighing the next day usually works okay for me.
