  • Blessing this Blessed Christmas,
God has blessed us all. It brings me great Joy to see my FIL who was told he would not make it until Thanksgiving was here today and doing very well. (he had the stroke and has heart failure) I just wish my Brother would have come. Please keep him in your prayers he is struggling with a drinking problem. He has just finished treatment and is still rough going. I don't know why but he doesn't come around much and when I see him he is real quite. I have always been supported and I think he feels like he is letting me down when he messes up. I love him and I pray that he can get his life back in order.
Ginny-I don't know about your kids but my 3 youngest were up at 3:45am and at 10:30pm they were still up and going! They kept sending the baby in to tell us that it was morning. We keep sending them back until 6:00 and then we got up! I did well with my eating because I am sick and nothing sounded good!

    Have a blessed day!

  • Blessing today!
I am starting my weekend off! Yeah! I am feeling a little stressed because my DH check has not come yet and I need it to pay all the bills Please put a prayer in that it will get here ASAP. I have done well on my diet. I am starting to have stomach problems again. It seems when I am being good and then I eat something high in fat I then become very sick. I had my gallbladder out 8 yrs ago but this feels like a gallbladder attack. Last night I ate a handful of almonds and boy was I sick all night. Tonight I had a sub with cheese and sm mayo and I can feel it again. One blessing is when I go through this I have to eat very low in fat foods for awhile so my body can heal.

Ginny-How is things going for you? I hope your enjoying your time with DH and kids.

Wilma-I am pray for a safe trip home.

To all MIA"S come back I miss you!

  • I am new to the board. It is nice to see so much caring for each other. I have been trying to lose weight alone and it is not working! So it is nice to know that I have a group out there that is going thru the same things I am.

Sami-Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. I pray that you will be better soon.

I will be glad when the holidays are over, it is too much for me. Trying to diet and the holidays do not mix!

    May God Bless

  • I'm Home!!!
I just got home and could hardly wait to come here and connect with you again. I had a wonderful relaxing Christmas. It is good to be home and in my own bed again though. My dh and I both have next week off also so we'll relax for a while and then go visit my parents for one night.

Pravda: Welcome!! What a treat to come home and "see" a new face. I hope you post often. We're here for support when you need us. Tell us a bit about yourself!

Sami: How are you feeling? I also had my gallbladder out and when I eat certain food it affects me also. I hope you're doing well. Our bodies are great at telling us what they don't want us to do.

Ginny: How was your Christmas? I hope you took some time for yourself!!

I'm glad to be back and now back on track I go!!! It was a bad time for me - too much chocolate. Hopefully the walking I did helped a bit. I'll weigh in tomorrow am.

    Good Night!!

Wilma- Welcome Back we have missed you and our prayers of a safe trip have been answered! Don't stress about the eating over the holidays Just get back on track and keep on going. You have been doing great so far.

  • Happy New Year to Everyone!!!
I am so happy to be joining a Christian support group. Let me tell you a little about myself. I am a student, wife, mother, and grandmother. I have a goal of 60lbs to lose. I will be graduating from college in May, and I pray that I will have met at least half my goal by than. This is not a easy task, but I know joining this group is a positive step in that direction. I am looking forward to talking to each of you. God Bless

  • Good evening!!!!
Welcome home Wilma and welcome Meetoo and Pravda!!!!!
This is just a quick check in- to say hello and see how everyone is doing. Our Christmas was hectic but nice. We are just now beginning to slow down- and I wonder how long that will last!!!!
It has been great having Dh and the kids home. For the most part, the kids have been behaving. Dd (age 15, you had to guess?) has been making some grumbles about going to a New Years Eve party- and the plans keep on changing and changing...... she is trying to confuse me, I think!! Tomorrow I need to do my homework and see what her plans are in concrete terms, then make my decision (and hope that Dh stands firm too!).
Sami- I hope that you got some scrapbooking time in!!! We all need to relax, and that sounds like a great way to do so.
I did not really get any time off for myself- but I guess that I will have to wait for that. Sometimes I just have to be thankful for my walks and go from there. I did weigh in on Thursday at 158#.
My eating has been off- I have had some candy and cookies, but tried to balance it by maing sure that I ate all my veggies (cut back on carbs instead).
Well, I had better go. It looks as though I missed a lot at the end of the last thread, so I will go back there catch up there!
In case I do not get back here for a day or so- have a happy and blessed new year!!!!

Hi. I'm a new member. The minute I saw the word "Christian," I knew this was the place for me.

My name is Judy and I'm 34. I live in Florida. I'm really looking forward to learning more about all of you and getting to know you better. I'm looking to lose 20 pounds (you know, those hard-to-lose stubborn ones!) and I know I can only do it with God's help .... which I'm sure will be aided by support I find here. I'm good at dishing out motivation, but sticking to things myself...well, that's another story.

I work from home and sit on my butt all day in front of the computer. The kitchen is right around the corner...you know, near the exercise bike that has about six layers of dust on it.

Anyway, I look forward to talking with fellow Christians who understand that with God, all things are possible.

    Blessings,
    Judy
  • Blessing this evening to all!
And a big welcome to Judy and metoo! You will be blessed with great support and encouragement!
I go by the name Sami I am the Mother of 6 children 5 girls and 1 boy. I work full time in the evenings so my DH and I can be home with the kids. I would like to lose 50-70 lbs. My DD is talking about getting married and I want to look good for the wedding. I am thankful the wedding won't take place for at least 1yr. Pray for me to reach my goal.
Ginny-Glad things are going well. I went through the same thing at New Years with my DD. I wouldn't let her out unless I knew the parents. I had suffered worse than she did when I said no. But as parents I had to make the hard choices.

Wilma,Pravda I pray your day is a Blessed one.

  • Sami,

Thanks for the welcome. Appreciate it.

Wow, six kids! I've got three, and that's enough to keep me hopping!

  • Sunday evening!
It's been a very relaxing day today. Dh and I watched a movie and have been reading or doing crossword puzzles all day. I made a big pot of veggie soup yesterday and that's what we had today. It felt good to eat veggies again.

We head to my parents' on New years Day and then for a visit to a couple of dh's elderly aunts who are special to us. that should give us 3 days to relax when we get home.

Welcome Judy and Metoo: It's great to have you here. We're here to support each other when things go bad and to cheer for you when you're doing great. Tell us more about yourselves!!

I'm really tired so I'll sign off and go to bed. Talk to you all tomorrow!!
  • Good Morning!
Welcome Judy!!!!!!!! I am so glad that you are here. This thread has been a wonderful source of encouragement to me, and I trust that you will find these dear ladies a source of wisdom and encouragement to you too!!! My husband and I have been blessed with 3 children, Dd 15, Ds 12 and Dd 6. All 3 attend Christian schools. We live in Southern NY state, almost on the NJ border- but in a rather rural county. I agree with you, 3 kids can keep you hopping!!!!!!!!! Sami amazes me with her 6.
Wilma- your relaxing day sounds soooooo nice. Gotta love that pig pot of veggie soup- for both its healthyness and easy meals. I do that too sometimes, but with my gang I still have to add to it to make a meal. (hungry kids!!!)
Sami- what are your plans for tonite? I would like to suggest setting a goal for us this year. Maybe we could all try to lose 5# by Valentines day? Would you like to join me?

As for our plans, we are letting Dd go to the party tonite. I just got off the phone with the girls father- who sounds like a very reasonable individual with a decent plan to keep this party from going sour. They have offered to keep all the kids (girls and boys) all night- with plans to keep the genders separated. My Dd is furious with me, as I have plans to pick her up at 1 am (driving an hour to do so too!!) and will also bring back a friend or two who live close to us. Please pray for me tonite, I am a bit apprehensive about driving at midnight ( all the drunks and partyers out there)- but both Dh and I feel strongly that she should be home. An overniter with both sexes, no matter now well monitored seems inappropriate to me.
    GTG.
Have a healthy and happy New Year!
    Ginny
  • Hello! Thanks for the warm welcomes from everyone. Sure is nice to meet you all.

Let's see, you wanted to know more about me. Well, I live in Florida (can't handle that cold weather!) and I married and have three kids, ages 15, 14 and 11 (two boys and a girl). I work from home, always have my butt plastered in front of a computer, which sure isn't good for the backside, if ya know what I mean

I think I might have made some people mad in the buddy section of this list when I said I didn't have a lot of weight to lose. I hope I didn't offend anyone over there. I'm just at that stage where I want to lose 15-20 pounds that I've gained over the last 10 years. Those pounds seem to be the hardest to get rid of.

Oh, by the way, please excuse me for not knowing, but what does Dh and Dd stand for?

Ginny, it sounds like that party will be well supervised and the kids will have fun, but I agree that you should not let your kid stay overnight. Too much can happen. I do pray that you are safe on the roads, though!!! I think that's got to be the worst time to be driving. God will watch over you!

    Blessings,
    Judy
  • Happy New Year!
I am praying that 2002 will bring us all to are goals.

Ginny-I agree with you. 15 is way to young to have both genders spend the night together! And tell your dd that here are your choices I pick you up at 1 or you don't go! I wouldn't let my 19 yr old out driving tonight and boy was she mad at me! We finally came to a compromise she is staying with a friend and not out driving (I have her car). I am going to go to bed because I am working early tomorrow. My sister was killed by a drunk driver so New Years scares me with the whole drunk driving thing. I will pray for you to have a safe trip tonight. Please post soon so I know your OK.

Wilma-Veggie soup sounds so good! I am going to buy stuff to make it for my next weekend off so I can enjoy it all weekend. I got my dh a crockpot with a divider so you can make one big pot or two diffrent items in the same pot. It is neat.

Judy-Don't feel bad because you only need to lose 20 lbs what a blessing! We are here for you to help you reach your personal goal no matter what that may be. And I hope soon I will be posting that I only need to lose 20 lbs! And when we reach our goal I pray we don't stop posting we will need each other to maintain! I hope this crash course of computer lingo helps
