Stay At Home Mom's #23
Welcome all newcomers and friends! This is a thread full of laughter, friendship and encouragement, as we share our lives and the ups & downs of raising a family. Feel free to join us. We look forward to getting to know each other better.
Be sure to go back to SAHM's #22 to catch up with the latest on what has been going on in everyone's lives during the past week or so.
Ginny
I just left a medium sized post on SAHM's #22- so if you are so inclined, check it out. Keeping up with more than one page is a hassle for me, so I thought that I would start up this thread.
Stop in here and say hello! I hope to be able to check in tomorrow. Have a good nite.
Ginny
hello again! Boy! I'm about to wear out this forum already! But I have good news! I lost another lb. I'm now 140. I'm so happy about it. Only 10 more lbs until goal. This makes 20 lbs of loss so far. Doesn't seem like much when there are ladies out there fighting to get off 100+ lbs but this is a great accomplishment for me. I've been struggling to get these lbs off since august. But now they are off to stay!
yes, ginny, (is that your name ecom?) I am having a dress made for me for the wedding. But a friend is making it and I told her to expect some alterations right before the wedding. She doesn't mind at all. She even complimented me on how great I already look and that if I didn't lose another ounce I would look fantastic. That was great to hear. When I look into the mirror now I see a shape again. A waistline. My problem area is my hips and stomach. I carry most of my weight there from the pregnancies. They have been the hardest to budge. What I need to do is exercise. That would help. I may start soon to get some inches off those areas. The dress I have to wear for the wedding is sort of a princess dress. It has a form fitting bodice and a flaired out skirt. It's the type of dress that even if you are a size 2 you will look like a 10 in the hip area because of the fit. But I have a back again. No more rolls on my back or around my bra line. I am so thrilled with that. Too bad my dress isn't an open backed one. That would take eyes off of the hips.
Well, anyway. Such is life. Remember girls:
Hi!
Yes, Spryng, my real name is Ginny. Hey- 20 pounds is a major accomplishment to me! And even if you had 100 # to lose, 20 pounds is still significant. So congrats, and keep up the good work! And don't worry about wearing out the forum, it has kept me from overeating a lot- because this is my accountabiliy network.
GTG Have a great day!
Ginny
Hi. I am new here but have visited the site before. I'm glad to have found you guys. I am 39 yrs. old with 2 children ages almost 10 (I can't believe it!) and 7-1/2. I'm trying to get ready for the holidays as you all are too.
I am a lifetime member of WW and believe in the program. I am about 20 pounds over where I'd like to be and my goal is set at the highest level so that I don't have to pay if I'm within 2 of that.
I don't want to weight this but this weight may be it for me. I've weighed this for about 2 years.
I am struggling with staying on track and also was recently diagnosed with Premature Ovarian Failure which is Early Menopause. My hormones are wacky and I'm trying to find the best HRT for me. This could be a long process. (I hope not, but with my past experiences with med's, I am one that takes a while to get it right!)
Well, this is it for now. I've got a ton of things I SHOULD be doing but this is much more fun!
Am excited about being a part of this group.
cindy
Good evening!!!!!! WELCOME CINDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is exciting, getting two new friends here just before Christmas.
(Spryng just joined us a week or so ago!) For some silly reason I am unable to read your post while responding here, so forgive me if I ask dumb questions (ok, Jackie, I know, all my questions are dumb!!!!!!) I hope that you like posting here and find it a great place to vent and find support. I have made a great friend or two here over the course of the past year. And I give a ton of credit to this thread for helping me lose the weight that I have taken off since October. Where do you live? How much do you want to take off? If you do not mind, I am also on WW- I bought the materials on ebay, and am really self administering the program. I do not have the time or the money to go to meetings, but have done fairly well since I got serious about it. So, from time to time I might have a question or two for you, if that is ok.
I live in southern NY state, in a fairly rural county. I have 3 children (Dd 15, Ds 12 and Dd 6) and my wonderful husband.
I would like to lose another 25 to 30 pounds (ugh, what a long journey). I think getting down to 130 will be tough, so I think if I can settle at 135, I will be a happy camper! I walk 5 or 6 times a week (no organised excercise program or gym) and do some calesthenics. Nuff of me!!!!!
This was one busy day, and tomorrow promises to be just as bad. I hope to get all the insane running around done tomorrow, and use Saturday as a catch up/clean up day- to cook, wrap etc..... And then it gets crazy again until Wednesday.
Enough of me babbling. I did not have a perfect day, attempting to stay "OP"- but I will be in the kitchen much less tomorrow and will be out so much that I should have little choice but to be good.
I have to get up at 5 to get my walk in (not a pretty sight!), but
walk I will. Gotta go. Have a great nite!!!!! And check in and say hello, Spryng and Jackie!!!!!!!!!
Ginny
Thanks for the welcome, Ginny. I will be glad to get info for you, just ask! I weigh around 140 now and would like to see 125 or 130 around my 40th which is in June. I know I can do it if I just apply myself. Not to that level yet though. I feel it coming!
I live in a suburb North of Atlanta, GA. I am a true "born and raised" Southerner. I grew up West of the city and we moved here about 6 years ago.
I have been really busy, too. I keep thinking that I have everything but something slips my mind. Tomorrow my DH has off and we are going to finish everything. Then it's clean house time! I am trying to follow Flylady (www.flylady.net), she is wonderful. I hope to get all of this straightened out in the New Year. We are getting a puppy from Santa this year, so I'll be at home a lot more trying to potty train
Did anyone ever visit Dotti's Weight Loss Zone? I tried to get on today and it told me I wasn't authorized. What's up with that? I love her site and I hope that everything is okay.
Well, it's getting late here (12:30 am) and I need to get my sleep for lots of energy tomorrow.
Talk to you soon everybody,
cindy
First of all, Welcome, Journeymom! Glad to see that you joined our group! I'm a "Fly Baby" too! It seems to take forever to have my house the way that I'd like it to be. I thought for sure that I'd have a stress-free holiday season, NOT!! I've come a long way, but still have a way to go. I've also checked out Dotti's Weightloss site before. It might say "Not Authorized" right now because she might of had to find another sponsor for her website. Try after Christmas & maybe you'll have better luck. Spryng: Glad to see you posting again too! & Ginny: As always, it's a joy to see your posts too! I'm going to keep my promise to post more next year, okay? Well, I'd better sign off for the night & try & get some z's. If I don't login before Christmas, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy spending time with your family & friends!
Until later, TTFN **Jackie**
Good evening!!!!!
Ah, a nice quiet thread for me to mess up with some of my usual wit and other nonsense!!!!!!!! Actually, I am going to be brief this evening, I do want to get a half hour of wrapping in this evening. (ya think I procrastinate a bit? )
Anyway, today was nice- a rather pleasant day (t'was my day of hatchment!). Dh had my engagement ring reset (no, it is not some humgous rock, it is just that I kept losing prongs on the top and was afraid of losing the stone-- so they replaced that part with platinum a harder metal) and I am just thrilled. We got out for a quick dinner (what a good girl I was and had a salad with the dressing on the side!!!!!)- Christmas carolling in the neighborhood and then a lot of baking and cleaning. Yes, I did have some cookies, but the rest of my eating was good- oatmeal for breakfast, salad for lunch and salad for dinner.
Nuff stuff about me!!!!!!!
Great to hear from you Jackie- and yes I am going to hold you to that promise to post more in 2002! (watch out ladies, Jackie is always good for long, entertaining posts!!!!!!!) But for those of you newbies, Jackie and I joust a lot with each other, and she knows that I love her a lot!
Good to hear from you too, Cindy and thanks for putting up with my questions.
Gotta go. Have a wonderful, blessed Christmas, each of you (for those who celebrate Christmas!) and I do look foward to all of us getting back here to post in a few days!!
Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!
Ginny
hello all!! I just wanted to check in and see if anyone is ready to chunck the holidays and start the new year early!! Just kidding. My daughter turns two today. But she's been in the terrible two's for 6 months now. Is that possible?? Maybe that means she'll outgrow them sooner or the oppsosite, she'll be in it longer!! Well, no gray hairs yet so I'm doing good.
So when it's holiday season how does everyone diet? Do you go off a diet until after christmas or modify it....alot. I'm continuing to diet. I'm down to 140. Only 10 more lbs to go before I hit my first goal of 130 (my ultimate goal is 125 for summer) I cheated yesterday though. No guilt though. My dad wanted to take me and my sister out for lunch (something he has never done in my entire life) so I jumped at the opportunity. Then my husband bought burger king for dinner. Needless to say I went over my calories for the day. But that's ok. Weighed this morning and still holding at 140. I figure I'll be 139 in a couple of days. I can't remember the last time I was in the 130's. Before I was pregnant with my first child (the one who just turned 2) I was 145. So I'm breaking new ground for me!! I'm very excited.
Well I just wanted to check in. I also had one more question for all stay at home mom 's here. What type of diet are you on? If calorie how many calories do you stay at?
Have a great week!!

I'm a newbie
And looking for some support in this battle of the sugar bug. It seem everything that comes thru' the door is sugar coated, I love this season, but my goodness.
I am a mom of 2 boys, Jesse 11yo and Taylor 9yo... they are a great boys and a real handful. I'm homeschooling and don't have much time for myself, and it shows on the scale.
Would love to loose 45 or more pounds, and be able to fit into the closet full of clothing that sits gathering dust.
Hope to find support, encouragement and challenges....
Welcome skimom!! It's nice to meet another stay at home mother.
What diet are you on or planning to start?
I'm spryng. I'm a mother of two (Ava who is 2 today!! and Joseph who is 1. ) It's hard to fight sugar when it's around all the time. Thankfully sugar isn't my weakness. I never cared much for it. So the kids can munch on cookies or chocolate and it doesn't bother me. pasta on the other hand I can die eating. I'm on a low calorie diet. My own. I keep it at or under 1000 a day. I know that sounds low but it's only until my best friends wedding (I'm the matron of honor) that's january 19th. Then I should increase my calories. I've lost 20 lbs now! I'm very happy with my results.
You will definitely find encouragement here and support. I hope we see more of you!!
Good Morning and Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!
WELCOME Janeane!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great to see another new friend here. Homeschooling too! Wow. We used to have another home schooler out there (Patricia, check in and say hello if you are reading the thread and not posting)- who is also near term carrying her 5th child. Homeschooling is a challenge- what curriculum are you using? (Maybe you can sneak in a quick excercise tape while the boys are doing seat work!) I will fill you in on me later- I am one tired puppy and welll the kids will be up in 6 hours for Christmas morning. I hope to get to know you better!
Spryng- to answer your question- I am on weight watchers (I bought the program on ebay). What I love about it is that you are given a certain number of "points" per day- and within reason can allocate them however you want. So, for today I had salads for lunch and dinner (with some chicken or ham in each for protein) and a banana for breakfast, but that allowed me to have some cookies and a small piece of candy. So, I think I stayed in my point range, or not too far off of it. I guess the answer to your question is that I plan and try to pick my battles. We were at my inlaws today, and I know that I am not really that fond of MIL's cooking, but also knew that we would be entertaining at home later. So I saved my points for when I wanted them.
Later today I will probably do the same kind of thing, except that I am making a really yummy healthy exchanges dessert that I know is only 4 points a serving and will factor that into my planned eating. Hope that I did not confuse you there!!
As far as the terrible twos- for all 3 of my kids they began at about 16- 18 months and were over by 30 months or so.
But then they became 3!!!!!!!!! I found 3 a much more challenging age, because as 2 year olds, most children can still be easily directed to another activity or whatever, but as 3, personal will becomes more of an issue and "mind games" kick in (reall thinking!!!). But each is different and you might find 3 easier.
Sounds like you are doing great with your eating.!!!!!!!!
Gotta go get some sleep!!!!!!!! Have a wonderful Christmas.
Ginny
Well I have some exciting news I'd like to share!! I lost another lb!! I'm now 139. That was what I woke up to this morning. The scale moving down! That always keeps me motivated and moving! Only 9 more lbs to first goal. I hope I get there before january 19th.
I'm not bragging or anything. At least not on purpose. I just wanted to share my excitement with all of you guys. This forum has really been a life saver for me! Thank you all! Especially you Ginny!
here it is December 27!! All the stress is over and the over eating (hopefully ) So now we can all focus on our weight loss again. Do you guys make a resolution to lose weight every year? Well I'm not going to this year. The only thing I resolve to do is to be happy. Happy about my family, my life, and myself. So that will naturally include getting these last 9 lbs off. Becuase losing weight makes me happy. But as for a resolve of losing weight. I won't make it. Don't you get tired of dieting controling every thought and consumes all of your spare time? (what can I make for dinner that fits in with my plan? Is there anything I can eat at that restaurant? If I buy those cookies for the kids will I want some and blow my diet?? ) So I am stopping the insanity right now!! I just want to be happy this next year. That's all. Is that asking for too much? My kids are young (2 and 1) and I need to spend time with them instead of my guilty conscience when I over eat or gain a lb. So who's with me??? Who wants to be happy in 2002 (and if we continue to lose weight, that will be a bonus!)
Campaign for Happiness had jumped on the band wagon!!
PS
This doesn't mean I'm giving up dieting. I'm continuing to diet but not making it my #1 focus anymore
Hi everone!! I'm having trouble getting pounds off after having second baby. I need support. Someone who might be going through
the same thing. My baby is 10 mo old now and my goal stands to lose 30 pounds. I will appreciate any encouragement and ideals to help motivate me. Thank you. Misty
