Default Weight loss and hysterectomy?!?

Help- I am new to this site but not new to the weight loss battle. I am 35 and had a hysterectomy 6 weeks ago due to health reasons. I rejoined WW walked every day, stopped eating "feel sorry for myself crap," and followed the plan, but gained .4 lbs.

Wondering if things are different now that I am going through menapause, wow hot flashes are fun- haha , and trying to get the HRT's right.

Does anyone have any suggestions/ insight/ words of wisdom for weight loss with menapause? I am feeling stuck. I realize this is still new, but last time I tried WW I did great the first few weeks.

Not giving up yet, just frustrated.

Hi Leenie,

I understand the frustration of following a diet plan and nothing good happens. My hysterectomy was in 2005 when I was 41.
Six weeks is actually very early in your recovery time. Please remember that you will have swelling in your abdomen that can come and go for several months after your surgery as your body heals. Also, different type of hormone therapy can cause water retention. You may even notice more fluctuations of 2-3 pounds....sometimes 5 or 6...overnight. This is very common as your body adjusts to your hormone therapy and may continue for a while. I still have problems with water retention and the scales are not always my friend. Many times, I have stayed on-plan 100% and been rewarded with a 2-3 pound gain.) But, remember...its just water, not fat. You're just as likely to get on the scales again a day later and have lost those 2-3 pounds plus more!
Menopause can make weight loss a little more difficult for some of us, but I know women who have had no problems at all. I am losing slowly, but I havent always been as committed as I should be. Losing weight after menopause is not impossible. Please feel free to PM me if you'd like to talk some more. For some reason, we women seem to make light of hysterectomies....like they are no big deal...but, adjusting to the changes in your body can sometimes be overwhelming. I'm here to talk if you need me.

Red face Menapause + weight loss help

Rhonda- Thanks, the information was VERY helpful, things my doctor had not informed me. I think i was just thrown, becasue everyone talks about the first week or 2 being the biggest loss, and I worked so hard and fluctated between 1-3 pound gain . I knew it would take awhile to recover and the swelling has been entertaining each day as some pants fit one day and not the next and then a week later are to big. This is still all very new and the HRT's are still being adjusted. And still occasionally taking pain pills to get throug the day I am sure does not help. This is all just new and I didn't really have a lot of time to prepare.

I am not giving up and thankfully my woofie encourages me to walk every day for about. I even wanted to come home and EAT but was good and true to myself.
Thanks
Kathleen

I did have my ovaries removed, but I do lose when I stay on-plan and exercise. Please don't get discouraged if you are one of us who did have a complete hysterectomy. You are not doomed to be fat for the rest of your life.
