As I'm continuing to "shop in the back of my closet", I'm finding some tops that I haven't worn in a while. I've had to give up on the 2Xs.
Today, I picked out a red top that I like. I put it on and it is a bit large. It's a 1X. I've been hesitant to try on the 18s and smaller ones in the closet because I know they will be tight and show all these rolls I have.
Whenever I go and look for a new top I normally gravitate to the "X" sizes.
How long did it take you to stop the old habit of looking in the old sizes?
Well... I still haven't shopped for clothing much, but I had to go get a few things because everything was falling off... And I now can wear a medium shorts! This was so fun! So I guess it didn't take me long at all. I still have to try everything on, though--because sometimes sizes don't work even though they seem right.
I swear it still blows my mind that i don't wear XL or many L's!!! I will still grab one size i hope fits and one size i figure will fit. And it always amazes me when the one i hope fits....does!!!! I'm not sure when that feeling goes away. But I love it. I went into Victoria's secret the other week and was skeptical that a medium baby doll was going to fit. Now...it didn't actually look right because my boobs are apparently not as small as they think they should be...but a medium babydoll in Victorias secret....FIT!!!! Talk about mind blowing!!!! But I am holding out until i get to goal and hopefully when I try on a Small....it will fit. (fingers crossed!!!)
I was doing the same thing, picking old sizes not wanting to disappointment myself if the smaller stuff didn't fit, but this last time I went and picked up one size smaller than I thought would fit and guess what it fit!!! I love shopping, now I just need to find more money to shop with!
My happiest day is going to be when I'm out of the X's!! I long to be one of those women that can wear a shirt with a tag saying, "one size fits all" I REALLY want to be an all.
Oddly enough, I can't wait for other people to finally get that I don't wear XLs any more (like, when they offer me clothes, or take me shopping). I agree that when you don't know, you don't take the smaller size, but between a S/M and a XL, sheesh, you'd figure out that there IS a perceptible difference?
It didn't take me anytime at all! In fact, I'm ahead of myself; when I'm shopping I tend to grab sizes that are too small because I'm hoping I'll fit into them.
