My mom got me to like the pita bread pizzas, and they are so so good. She also would make a pita bread hamburger that is really good all you have to do is put all you fixings with the hamburger in the pita and I use to use just mustard because it has no calories. Yum now I know what im going to get the next time I go to the store. Also these are both meals that I know my whole family would enjoy.

Do you cut the pita in half, or just open it and stuff it and put it in the oven?

I cut my pitas in have because really that is big enough. For the pizza one I do put it in the oven but for the hamburger no. I really need to get a toaster oven because on hot days I hate heating up the whole house. If you try it enjoy they are good. :) |
Hi from the original poster.
Thanks for all the feedback and advice. I ended up having a nice big salad and a couple of wasa crackers with fat free cheese melted on top and sprinkled with some extra spicy Mrs. Dash. Not exactly what I was craving but the best I could do without giving in and calling Dominos. Next time I go shopping I'm going to buy the ingredients to make healthier pizzas at home. I don't like Lean Cuisine Pizzas either. (Or Healthy Choice, or even regular Stouffers). To me they have a wierd artificial flavor. |
Marlu, although it wasn't ideal, it was a great solution! :cheer2: Good for you for not caving in. That actually sounds like a pretty good snack.
Next time you'll be better prepared! :D Jay |
Pizza is a major weakness of mine. I've been very good at not eating bad food. I had a cookie today and it was my first "sweet" in over a week or so. I am glad that we don't eat out a whole lot, because that is usually what we get. :hungry:

Marlu, Great solution!
I do have pizza, probably 2x a month lately. We always buy the thin crust Freschetta cheese pizza. A third of the pizza (2 nice size pieces) is 330 calories. I load it up with mushrooms, and then have a great big salad with low calorie dressing. |

I'm curious if anyone has tried ground turkey on a pizza instead of hamburger? It's something I've been considering trying out the next time I really want pizza and choose to make a healthier option at home.
I've used turkey for tacos and it was a major success, I actually prefer it to beef! |
