  • the side effect of leaking is only a side effect IF IF IF you eat meals with a very high fat content. for instance, if you eat 6 lbs of friench fries it makes you feel a little loose. but if you are controlling your eating and dieting properly, its has nothing negitive. i will say it makes you more reular. i have been using it since it has come out, and so far it has pulled me out of a 4 week platue. i have no complaints.
  • If you know that you are going to eat more than 15grams of fat in a meal, you have the option of not taking the pill with that meal so it is possible to have "slips" without effects.
  • exactly, as long as your in control of your eating, your in control of the side effects.

Nah. We (and by "we" I mean not me) pay for hope. We pay for belief in the possibility of results without effort.

Oh believe me I know that this requires a great deal of effort.
  • Does it require more effort than the same clean eating without the risk of incontinence?

It may burn more calories in "cleaning"! Truly, you might burn more calories having to do extra laundry to clean up the "oily orange discharge" and "anal leakage" from your clothing, furniture, car upholstery and so on, that may result even IF you eat a low fat diet (yes, some people have experienced this, even here on this site!).

Clean eating takes a great deal of effort, but yes I think this does require a bit more effort if you don't want to get the icky side effects everyone is talking about. I was eating a low fat diet and exercising before I started taking it (and lost almost 20lbs doing so) but now I really spend more time ensuring that I do not go over the alloted amount of fat grams.

Please don't get me wrong, I am still doing all the things I was doing before I started taking Alli. I don't see this as a license to work less, only as a tool to help my weight loss. Honestly I am kinda stymied about the lack of support ridicule in what is usually a very positive message board.
  • OK, at this point I'm going to close this thread because it seems lots of opinions have been expressed several times--and now it's turning into debate.

Any diet pill or device can be seen as a tool to help people or as a rip-off. I've used them myself in the past. But everyone has to do what they think is helping them in a positive way! Many of those who use this have reported losing weight--and that's not a bad thing. Many also mention the side effects--and those are to be avoided. I think that's the bottom line!
