I'm going to sound like such a dork...but here goes...

a. The high from exercising - that soreness/sweaty feeling makes you feel like you're doing something (more than watching what you eat), plus it's chemical.

b. The scale. Yes, I know...lots of chickies on here say don't watch the scale but I love seeing the numbers go down. It makes my whole grain veggie lifestyle more appetizing than it is already. Also doesn't allow you to quit.

Good luck with your journey!!!

What motivates me--a partial list! And not in any order...

- looking at my body, naked, in the mirror
- feeling a LOT better and being more healthy and strong since losing
- knowing that weight loss only gets harder as one gets older
- fitting into smaller clothes
- feeling like I have control over what I eat; this has come with time
- watching an episode or two of Biggest Loser
- seeing my body change in terms of strength and fitness

oh so many things can motivate me...

1) seeing the number on the scale going down (yes...i love my scale!!)
2) feeling my pants getting baggier on me.
3) reading other peoples story about losing lots of weight
4) looking better in pictures and actually wanting to be IN the picture again!!
5) AFTER a good workout, I feel happy and proud of myself.
6) Looking at old pictures of myself REALLY motivates me.
7) Hearing people at work telling me how skinny I am getting.

Those are just a few things that keep me motivated.

What motivates me? Not waiting 10 days and just getting in there and doing it...now.

The desire to be healthy was my motivation. Getting rid of clothes I outgrew as I outgrew them kept me from toppling backwards. Finding reasons to eat right and exercise and running them through my mind whenever my mind wanted to come up with reasons not to kept me going. Buying clothes a size smaller at a price I really couldn't afford gave me reason to continue. LOL It works if you're cheap enough. Just leave them out in plain sight. You'll find yourself trying them on every day. And keeping my house stocked with healthy foods gave me reason to keep eating right.

1. My husband's reaction to the weight loss.

2. Being able to not have to wear sweats in the summer.

3, Getting back at my sister in law who borrowed all my skinny clothes and then said " i'm just gonna keep these. It's not like you're ever gonna fit them again, right "?

Why are you waiting 10 days to start? Why not start today? You don't have to have a momentous, drastic start, it can be as simple as taking a walk or snacking on some fruit or veggies.

Anyhoo, my motivation comes and goes and a friend put it in perspective for me and now I realize that it's really the commitment that keeps me going, even when my motivation is MIA. You just have to stick with it whether you feel like it or not.

This may not be helpful for you, but my motivation has been two things primarily.

1. Getting healthier than my parents were (they both had many health problems and have now past on.) I want to learn from their mistakes, not repeat them!

2. I want to be a healthy weight for future pregnancy. We are thinking of starting a family in a year or two and I want to make sure I'm in the best condition to handle an over 30 pregnancy.

Looking good is a factor too, but it's not my primary focus. Oh, and I agree with the other posts, why not start now? No time like the present!

ultimately you have to find your own motivation....
whether its looking in the mirror....
seeing the scales drop....
you can only do this for yourself....
just stay motivated....
and good luck....

Just wondering, why're you waiting 10 days to start? Start now!!

Things that motivate me:
-Looking at cute clothes.
-My rewards! (Every 10 lbs I have a "reward" such as a new skirt, or a pedicure, or something of the sort).
-Realising how much easier life is when you're thinner. (Seatbelts fit better, you sleep better, clothes are more comfortable, stairs are easier to go up and down, your feet hurt less, etc.)
-Did I mention cute clothes? lol
