  • Quote: Just don't be disappointed if you don't have such a huge loss every week! Remember, 2lb a week is the fastest safe amount to lose (though you will lose more in the beginning.)
I just want to mention that when "they" speak about a safe rate of weightloss being 1 - 2 lbs per week, "they" are not necessarily referring to the morbidly obese. The morbidly obese lose at a different rate. But of course it still holds true that in the beginning it usually is at a faster rate then what is to be expected as you get further down the road.

Keep up the good work. It's very, very exciting!!!!
  • Fair enough, Robin—point taken. I just don’t want her to become disheartened and disappointed if she only loses 2 or 3 or even 5 pounds next week after such a great loss this week.
  • Thank you for your concern. I'm all ready for the weeks that I lose only a pound or nothing at all. But I have a feeling that at least for the first few weeks I will be losing quite a bit. I mean, it's not like I'm going from a couch potato to running a marathon..I was never a couch potato. But I am obese and I've been told I will lose more weight than other people in my class may because of it. It's okay with me...gets me motivated!
