Exclamation Hit a pleateu, need some help

Alright so at the beginning of this year, I weighted in at 177. The problem is, I've only lost 7-10lbs since then, and its almost april. I've been trying, but it seems I've hit a pleateu(i think i spelled that wrong). What have you guys done when you've hit a pleateu? I've lost 62lbs so far, and I would really like to keep going untill I reach my goal. So could you guys/girls help me out please.

And on the plus size...well not literally, but anyways. I have one pair of 9/10 that fit me! haha.

Hey Leygh! 7 to 10 pounds is a good loss! Congratulations!

A plateau is when you don't lose anything for a week, two weeks, a month... and you are staying strictly on your plan.

As you lose weight, the rate of loss slows down a bit. That might be part of it.

If you are doing too much the same thing all the time, try changing something. For example, eat different foods (but within your plan), or change the exercise you are doing. Increase your exercise if you can. Don't try to decrease the food too much, though--don't go below 1200 cals too often.

That should make a difference. Do you use FitDay or some other tracking program? They can be helpful.

Good luck!

Sometimes it helps to use a tool of some sort to help make sure you're as on track as you think you are. It's easy for a little bite here and a little bite there to add up. I don't follow a formal diet or count calories, but I do write down what I eat, in approximate quantities. That way, if I hit a plateau, I can look at the diary and see where I can do some trimming. Lots of people here use FitDay for that.

I had a three week plateau. I cut out my daily almonds ( I was eating between 10-20. they are good for you but have a lot of calories and fat). I increased my fiber and water a lot. This is what helped me! Good luck!

I had a three week plateau recently too, before starting to drop another 1-2 pounds this past week. My clothes, however, did fit quite a bit looser - so I think the numbers not moving on the scale is probably due to me building some muscle, or my body finally moving its set point and not thinking that I'm trying to starve it.

So keep at the program, as long as you retain a significant calorie deficit you should be in good shape and lose s'more soon! 10 pounds since the beginning of the year is not bad at all, btw -- about a pound a week so pretty sensible, in my opinion.
