What a great, and true, video! I work in printing/publishing and I remember some years back a very famous mens' magazine gave some spec work to my prepress house. It was a swimsuit-type picture of a beautiful woman wearing only a white mesh tunic, and it was marked up with things to change. I don't remember all of them, but "trim hip" was an instruction that really stands out. As in, erase part of her hip so it is smaller. We were also instructed to brush out a nipple. Uhhh...but you're Old And Famous Mens' Magazine. Men BUY your magazine to see nipples.
I also met a guy on a trip once who did the same kind of thing, but in video. I wish I could remember what he had to do to Mariah Carey's face. I think she had a zit when filming a video, and it had to be taken out. So his job was going frame by frame erasing this zit.
The lesson is: the images you see in magazines, billboards, anywhere...they're retouched. They're retouched UP THE WAZOO. Heads are put onto different bodies. Skin is smoothed, eyes are enlarged, bulges are erased, tiny wrinkles are filled, eyes and teeth are whitened and brightened, the list goes on and on. Absolutely teenage girls should be told about this so that they know to view these images as idealized art, not as something to attempt to emulate.
