Default Quinoa

I LOVE this stuff! I just bought a lb of quinoa for the first time at the local health food store. I made vegetable fried rice with it, and was really impressed. It was so much more filling than rice too. Even with brown rice I get a carb fix, and can eat well past being full, but the quinoa was tasty and filling without being addictive.

I was really skeptical when I saw it on the shelf, because it looks like birdseed, but it cooked up soft and chewly. Yummy.

It's funny that you mention Quinoa I just cooked some up last night. I cooked mine with chicken broth, onion and fresh thyme. I also really liked it. It has a mild flavor and will take on the flavors of whatever it's cooked with. Also it's not really chewy or mushy. The other bonus is that it's high in protien. 7grams per serving.

My husband even liked it, and rice is his absolute favorite carb, so I thought he'd be disappointed that it wasn't "real" rice. I also liked that the leftovers stayed nice and soft, and didn't clump up into a clay-like mass like rice does.
