Smile June raw foods plus a little cooked veg.

I followed a strict raw foods plan a few years ago and felt great. My problem is I travel a lot and eating on the road became extremely difficult. I'm usually an all or nothing person but I've decided to compromise. I'm going to eat a predominantly raw diet with cooked veggies when I need to.

I'm going to use this thread as a journal if that's ok. I'd love to have others join me!

Taht sounds great, I too have tried a raw foods diet before, but I couldn't keep to it. I know that I felt super great on it though.
There is nothing like it!!
I have my own plan which I am about to start.
All the fresh fruit and veggies I want, plus very little cooked grains, and some cooked veggies.
Hopefully, I will stick to it, and be totally healthy. I am excited.

Good luck with your quest.

Samantha

that sounds great Samantha. I love grains but once I start, I binge on them. I have to be really strict in that area.

I am drinking a kiwi banana smoothie right now, it is soooo good!
Congrats on the 27 pounds lost! I can't wait to say I've done that!!

ok, today has been very good. for one thing, there was an explosive thunderstorm, those are always relaxing and often put me to sleep.

for breakfast I made a kiwi banana smoothie
lunch was a carrot, celery, yogurt smoothie (I can get soy yogurt at the health food store)
afternoon snack was some mashed avocado with diced onion and tomato

for dinner I am stir-frying zucchini, squash, onion, peppers, carrots, garlic, celery
late snack will be sunflower seeds.

Hi!~
I'm a lacto-ovo veggie edging my way over to a more vegan diet, but I can’t say I know too much about raw diets. Is that pretty much a vegan diet with as little cooking/preparation of the food as possible?

Also, I’m just curious if you keep a calorie count Ann? It’s hard to tell how many calories you’re getting since you didn’t list amounts and I’m sure you could get enough calories with things like the avocado and sunflower seeds, but it just looks like a really light day of eating to me. I would be starving personally, but maybe that’s just me.

Hi Shananigans!

yes, raw is uncooked, unprocessed, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, some people sprout beans as well. I wanted today to be light but really, by the time you get in avocado, the yogurt, seeds, etc, it is more than enough calories for me. When it's really hot out, I can't eat too much. I love juicing but it's easy to get too many calories by the time you juice a lot of fruits and vegetables. That's another thing I have to be careful of. I used to be really obsessive about my calories and everything I ate. I would not let myself get above 116, which for me was too thin, I'm only 5'4" but I'm fairly big boned and I looked really hollowed out and too bony. I started on steroids for a health condition and bam, I gained a ton of weight and with some depression added in, I abandoned my eating way of living and started down the road of binge eating.
whew, way wordy but what I was going to get to (finally ) is that I am trying very hard NOT to count calories or get obsessive over numbers. I'm going more for health and lots of veg. and fruits.
