another Newbie

  • Hi everyone!

I'm kind of new to this site, or at least have been away for a long time.

I have been a vegetarian on and off since I was 10 years old, and for the past few years have only eaten local meat purchased right from the farms. I stopped eating meat again a few months ago, and 3 days ago decided to go vegan. I have always really valued the principles of veganism and have stopped eating meat for both environmental and humanity reasons. I am already feeling amazing, even after just a couple days. The main challenge for me will be that none of my roommates or friends are vegan, or even vegetarian, so I love the idea of having support here!

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day
  • Welcome Snow Bunny!

I've been vegetarian for 15 years and have had periods of veganism thrown in there. I enjoy vegan food very much, but sometimes I find it challenging. I know many vegans will disagree with this and shun me as they don't even believe in the concept of "dietary vegan" and believe it's 100% an ethical choice.

But anyway! I am trying to get back to eating vegan at home and my fiancee (an omni) wants to go join in with me and go vegan together Jan 1.

I don't have much other support...my sister and hubby don't eat red meat/pork and are totally open to veg meals and most of my friends are fairly open too, but no other veggies I know are in real life.

Oh, and the last few times I went vegan I lost weight too, and that was eating vegan cakes and chocolates and whatever I felt like basically. It just seemed that all the veggies kept me eating less overall.

    Good luck to you!
