Default Roasted chickpeas are awesome!

As a new vegetarian, I'm looking for ways to get my protein and more interesting ways to eat the dreaded beans, so I was quite excited to find out how tasty roasted chickpeas can be. I tossed them in some olive oil and a few spices and they were quite yummy. I worry about the calories and fat in the olive oil (and yes, I know olive oil is a healthier oil, but weight loss does come down in the final analysis to calories in/calories out).

But anyway -- they were fantastic! For those of you who've already discovered this yummy snack, what kind of spices do you put on yours? How much olive oil do you use (or do you skip it)?

Did you see the recipe I posted for tamari/rosemary roasted chickpeas? It is pretty awesome. You can go it very light with olive oil, I usually do.

I love, love, love roasted chickpeas. I don't use spices or olive oil- I think they taste great plain.

Love roasted chickpeas! They can get me trouble though cuz I'll eat the whole batch in no time! I usually do very little EVOO and a little salt or pepper, I tried chili powder once and they were pretty good. There's a lot of possibilities...
Mmm I think I'm gona have to go to the store and pick some up today

I made some yesterday and used a little olive oil, garlic salt, garlic powder, pepper and nutritional yeast. They were great!

Roasted chickpeas are now expected by my household to be made every Tuesday night for LOST.

Jennifer, that's a wonderful idea! I love LOST, and roasted chickpeas would make it even better.

Arrrgh! Lemon juice! I've been making them without lemon juice. I knew they weren't as good as the ones Nelie made, but I thought it was her own magic touch.

I use probably about 3 Tablespoons of oil for two cans of chick peas plus salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and cumin. We all love these! I've tried changing up the spices, but we really like this combination best.

Nelie, this recipe calls for a half teaspoon of rosemary - didn't we use a lot more?
