hey all, veggie vixen checking in! I am exhausted, just finished a proposal for a project (really haven't slept in about 48 hours) but other than a bag of chex mix I didn't over-do it eating while i was working. Yey!

Hope you all are having a good week, and I will be back tomorrow once I've gotten a chance to sleep!

rdw1 03-03-2009 08:02 PM

Cool- My start weight was 212.4 on March 1... I will just go from after that~! Unless you started a while before that in which case the week before was at 214.6... either way you wanna start me is fine!

Jushave2try 03-03-2009 08:12 PM

Hey Guys
Well I just left class and I'm at Whole Foods. So I was wondering does anybody have any ideas that I can make for dinner since I'm already here!!!??
thanks for any inputs!

UrthWurm 03-03-2009 11:53 PM

Sorry I haven't been checking in. I officially have no internet, so I'm only posting because I'm at my GF's mom's house. It's pretty difficult right now because I have no hours at my official job, and the only money I'm making is from my online business. I had applied for foodstamps as did my GF, and we were both getting support until we found out today that she'll only be getting $16 a month now instead of $176!!! They added her income for December from our online businesses, and decided since she made $2000 that month that she doesn't need support for the other 11 months of the year! Now we're making barely enough to pay rent, and perhaps the bills, but eating is apparently out of the question. I already spent my food stamps this month on stocking our pantry with spices and some frozen veggies & pasta. I'm thinking I should return half the crud I bought and try and make that money last for the month. Just oatmeal for breakfast, salad for lunch, and soups for dinner. We'll probably do okay if we go off that (I hope!).

Haley8203 03-04-2009 04:39 AM

UrthWurm-Do u you have a store like Mr. G's, where the dented cans and smooshed boxed food go, they usually take food stamps and it's much cheaper.

jillnicole03 03-04-2009 08:11 AM

Iris.. good job on not over snacking! Chex mix can be hard to resist :)

Ok Rikki I will start you at 214.6, the challenge started Feb 19th :) Shananigans is also weighing alone, so you can be each others support, as well as have everyone else still! :cheer2:

Urthworm... I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time!! One cheap thing you can buy is a big thing of spaghetti sauce and cheap spaghetti noodles, that always lasts awhile for me for cheap. and Haleys idea is also a good one.. can food stores are awesome. Big Lots can be good for odds and ends, and a lot of towns have places where you can go get food boxes.

jillnicole03 03-04-2009 08:14 AM

By the way, I can't give you an official winner of last week, because we had a few people who did not weigh in, but out of the people who did weigh Twish lost 5 lbs last week!

Way to go Twish... so the Veggie Vixens of Team 2 are week 1 winners :cheer2:

:dust:

Hey Urthwurm-Sorry you're going through such a tough time. I've heard a lot about Angel Food Ministries. I don't know how much vegetarian food is in a box, but apparently you get a lot of food pretty inexpensively, and anyone can get it.

Jill-I know you're leaving tomorrow, so I just wanted to tell you to have a safe trip! Let us know when you get home safe and sound!

Haley-your chili recipe looks good. How did surgery go?

iriswhispers 03-04-2009 02:27 PM

Angel food is really great price-wise but at least in PA where I know we had it it was a LOT of meat. But maybe you could look into that and "trade" with someone who eats meat?

Fat Chick B Gone 03-04-2009 02:34 PM

Haley - hope surgery went well!
urth - eek sorry, dried beans, cheapo pasta, canned veggies. It's not ideal but hopefully it will get you through in a pinch.

I've been uber busy girls, sorry for not being around! I am out of town right now on business in Elgin, SC. It's sorta near Columbia. I did drive into Columbia last night and got a hot meal - seitan delmonico from Rosewood Market. OMG it was soo good! There is a totally veggie and mostly vegan place in downtown also but I dont' think I'll have time to make it there before I leave :(

Jushave2try 03-04-2009 03:04 PM

Great Job :cheer::devil:Veggie Vixens :devil::cheer:
Come on guys lets keep up the great work!!!

Urthwurm-I'm sorry to hear the difficulties you are going through!!! Hmmm... check and see if there are food pantries in your area! I know where I live they are all over the place and there are lots of canned veggies and other foods.
Haley- I hope your surgery went fine!!!

Well guys I tried hard and went down to my SW of 224, but had a tough weekend. It was my mom's bday so we celebrated with CAKE and CHAMPAGNE!!! ughh (sigh)..Now I am up 1 pound (225), but now I know what I have to do to work it off!!!!

***Good Luck Guys***

jillnicole03 03-04-2009 04:31 PM

Justhave2try... you can do it!! Work it off girl :)

twish 03-04-2009 07:27 PM

Hi ladies,

I am posting to vent and as an alternative to getting into the car and driving somewhere where I can buy yummy chocolate. Must distract myself till the shops close! I am so hungry right now- even though I just ate and satisfied. I am hungry from the place that only chocolate can fill, thanks to TOM. This is the first time I have felt really hungry since I started a week and a half ago. I ate a bit more today (extra piece of multi grain bread and a couple of extra spoonfuls of dal (Indian lentil soup/stew)). Drank a V8. Doubled my almond snacking. Some part of me still wants the chocolate.

That actually worked. I feel better after putting that out there. And, I just remembered that I have a small dark chocolate square in my jewelry drawer (from a dinner somewhere?). Maybe that will do, without doing too much damage!

My best to you all in your struggles and triumphs!

Darby1 03-04-2009 07:59 PM

Hang in there, Twish! You've been doing so well; don't let TOM undo your hard work!

Jushave2try 03-04-2009 08:01 PM

Good Luck Twish!!!
Sometimes I just cannot resist myself either!!!
Yesterday I went to Whole Foods, went to the bakery/pastry side (I was playing with fire) and there it was a VEGAN NY CHEESECAKE!!! I bought it and ate and felt soooooooo GUILTY!!!!! Kinda felt like I let myself down!
So today is going to be a hard night at the gym!!!!

**I wish you all good luck and everybody is doing a GREAT job at supporting each other*** Thanks ::):
