So what should I do?

  • I want nothing more than to be vegatarian. I have done it twice before, the first time when I was in high school. The other a little while back. The prob is the rest of my family. My husband and kids dont want to give up meat and that is their perogative, but I am the one that cooks... So it causes a prob. Should I just cook the stuff they want and eat something different? Now I come to my other issue. I am a very picky eater. I pretty much only like raw veggies, and salads get old cuz I hate dressing. Any kind. I want to be vegan more for the cruelty to animals than then health, but that is a big factor too. I really don't like fish so should maybe I eat chicken? To kinda mix things up and not get bored? What do you guys suggest?
  • Have you looked into vegan cookbooks?

Do you like beans? Are you only interested in raw veggies and meat?

What I'd do if I was you is cook a normal meal and add meat to their portions if they want to eat meat.
  • Yes I love beans. I was thinking about looking into cookbooks. I think you are right. I hate to eat totally different from everyone, but maybe when my hubby sees how good I look he will change!
  • Well as I said, it doesn't have to be totally different. There are lots of dishes where you can add meat at the last moment or what not. If you make recipes from cookbooks, he may not even notice meat is missing? I know it is a fear thing "oh no, I can't eat meat?" but once you realize you aren't eating just celery sticks, it is fine.
  • With my situation when I stopped eating meat I explained the reasons why to fiancee, and while he still eats meat he is very respectful of my decision.

I do not cook meat for him or purchase it at the store. If he wants to eat meat he will buy and cook it himself. He has cut back a lot since its not there in front of him as much. He enjoys many of the dishes I prepare. A few I recoomend that are also kid friendly

Vegan Chili with Vegan Cornbread with a side of green beans

Vegan Boca Burger with ketchup naysonaise and a slice of soy cheese with homemade sweet potato fries and a side of steamed veggies

of If you are still eating eggs there is a product called Quorn. The meat crumbles are excellent in Tacos or Chili my friend serves it to her kids they think its hamburger.

I know the stuff I typed there isnt the most healthy whole foods but I was thinking more of getting the husband and kids to eat too.

I have three cookbooks of which I recommend all of them
