August weigh in
Up a pound this week. Not too bad since I ate junk at the weekend and I've not been to the gym this week yet. As expected really.
Keepin' on truckin' |
I've lost 2lbs overnight - tummy bug - I really am hoping it stays off for a proper loss this week, but I doubt it!
|
Just a little mention of the forum wide weigh in if anyone hasn't seen the announcement. ;) There are prizes. :hat:
|
I saw that last night, we should all do it, it would be quite spectacular to see how much the whole site loses in a month!
|
Hi guys, I am starting on this weight lose journey starting from tomorrow And this time Tomorrow will come!
I am 13 stone 10lbs at present and I want to be 10 stone by New Years Eve so i will keep you updated |
Welcome chunkygirl
3.5 :D Got my stone award at last! :p :o |
ooo welcome new ppl.. and well done veggie
i missed my meeting ... many reasons... not coz i didnt wanna go coz ive been naughty...think ive lost a few lb on my scales.. they seem to be the same as the SW ones... wont change my ticker tho... until i get the "offical" one haha... keep at it..... |
Well done to you all
You are all putting me to shame. This week I've exercised and eaten well but nothing is shifting. I feel like a big fat lump. Michele |
:bravo: Veggie you go gal ;)
|
Ok well I weighed myself on boots scales today and they said I was 14 stone 3lbs so I am going with those scales instead of my own!
|
Stayed the same again.
Upset is not the word. The consultant said that going to the gym wouldn't help my weight loss, it will just change my body shape. So why am I bothering? I've obviously reached my maximum. I ate so well last week, followed it to the letter but didn't lose an ounce. |
Homersmummy - Ask your consultant if she'd rather weigh 16 stone and wear size 10 clothes, or weigh 10 stone and wear size 16 clothes.
Surely changing (reducing) your body shape is THE WHOLE REASON for losing weight? Weight loss is the side effect of a shrinking body, no? I really want to kind your consultant a :kickbutt: - can you slap her for me? Exercise is SO good for you, it will improve your health and your body shape and makes you feel alive, and moving is what your body was MADE for. Ok rant over! Are you doing slimming world? My mum was doing SW and stalled, but she was doing all green days, then I suggested she do all reds and she lost 3lbs. Perhaps a little change is called for. Don't lose hope, sometimes your body needs a week or two to figure out what's going on. Oh and whatever you do - don't quit the gym! |
Huh?? I can't believe that a responsible SW leader would say something quite so stupid!!!!!
Weight training and cardio have so MANY health benefits and reduce stress and make you feel good about yourself. The long term benefits are IMMENSE - reduction in blood pressure, strengthens the heart and lungs, helps prevent osteoporosis, loads of stuff - and all those benefits have a knock on effect - latest research says that lowering blood pressure will help prevent us getting dementia in old age. Cardio burns calories - there is absolutely NO doubt about that - and resistance work tones up the body, giving a better body shape. What Frus says about weight/body shape is right. At the moment I'm 13st and size 16. In the past (when I didn't exercise) I would have been a size 18-20 at 13st - and I wouldn't have been a size 16 until I had got down to 12st. I never could get on with SW - I gained weight four weeks in succession before I stopped going. I know that the attractiveness of SW is not having to count calories BUT if you are eating more calories than you need you will either gain weight or stay still. Try what I did - I got so frustrated about the weight gain and lack of SW leader support (she kept telling me that I had to be doing something wrong) that one day I wrote down EVERYTHING I ate on a normal SW green day and then counted up the calories - I was totally gobsmacked to find I had eaten 2,750 cals - no wonder I was gaining weight. |
Consultants are just human they don't know everything they might be lazy and think everyone should stay in and watch tv and just eat 'pasta n sauce' :barf:
Keep going to the gym and be all fit. I'm sure you'll start losing again soon. Don't give up that's the sort of silly thing I do. |
Oh Help!!!
I went for a check up at the dr`s yesterday morning who was glad to tell me I`d lost 2lbs...yippee I thought..all that hard work paid off. Unfortunately by the time I got to WW at 6pm and weighed I`d put 2lbs on to my start weight...oh S**T! I know that muscle weighs heavier than fat and I`m feeling trimmer but that`s not the point. The whole idea of being on a diet is to lose weight, try telling my dr that my weight is muscle not fat...he`d laugh his head off and tell me to get on with it!! I will not give up...I will keep trying to lose weight...I will stick to my diet this week and see how next Thursday goes... Kick up the A** needed. Anyone been watching a series called Our New Lives In Everwood...excellent time for a tea break..2pm on 3. Maybe will go mow the lawn and work off a few more calories. Back later. Kim |
Between going to the Dr's and WW - I guess you ate lunch right?
That 2lbs difference could be the lunch you ate or the water you drank... Don't feel bad, take one scale and stick with that - it's the difference in the readings on the same scale that counts - you're following the trends, not the numbers! Personally I don't take any notice of the Dr's scales since I am usually wearing different clothes and have eaten different things before I go see them. I only register my weight first thing, starkers and "empty" ;) |
Your right I know.....
I get so caught up in the .."have I lost this week" that I get all mad looking for the lighter scales. Trouble being that i weigh at night at WW and of course we`re all heavier at night. Saying that, my scales at home weigh the same as WW scales any how so maybe I`ll weigh on a Thursday am at home and as you said..empty and starkers. O.K so back to the drawing board as far as getting weighed goes. Fresh start with sticking to one set of scales. i`ve mowed the lawn so now I feel that I`ve earned my tea! Chicken breast with veg..new pots..and white wine sauce..(not too much sauce though!) and then maybe an hour on the air walker. Fingers crossed for a weekend of not too much indulgence! Kim |
Yay!!! 3lbs gone! Its nice to see a change on the scales - even though it was probably the tummy bug which did most of the 'work'. Thats probably my entire weight loss for August. Ah well....
Kim - I'm the same as Frus, weigh myself first thing on Saturday and starkers. Last time I went to the doctors I weighed 4 pounds more than my Saturday morning weight - but that was after breakfast and fully dressed. |
3lbs is 3lbs...tummy bug or not!
Any weight loss is a boost to keep you going for another week. Well done you! I feel crud. Have temperature and aching joints. Maybe I won`t do too much today. Maybe have been over doing it a bit lately. Never mind back to it...now what to have for dinner???? Kim |
Don't want to worry you... but thats how my tummy bug started off last Monday - the tummy side of things kicked in on Tuesday.
|
:carrot: :cb:
Well done 3lber! ;) I'm down a coupla lbs, but I think that's cos I had a lie in and sweated off tht extra couple! I weighed at 7am and was 12:4, then at 10:30 I was 12:2.5   |
Pros and cons of a tummy bug!!!
pros: a) I could easily lose 3lbs in a few days. b) my appetite would surely go for a while c) I could do with a bit of a detox any how cons: a) My fat back side would be stuck out as my head was down the toilet b) My bathroom is downstairs so constant up and down the stairs (mind you that could be classed as excercise!) c) my household would grind to a halt with my hubby in charge Verdict: Stock up anti diarrea pills and ginger biccys and keep my fingers crossed that instead of a tummy bug I just have a good dieting weekend! Kim |
I haven't weighed myself since mid-June because my scale broke. Got a new one today and it says I'm 114kg! I also noticed that my tummy doesn't poke out as much as it used to, so I'm well chuffed!
|
Just weighed myself this morning: 113! :D
|
:bravo: Well done Geekykat
|
Kim, then you need to lie on the sofa downstairs - that sorts out b) and c) - but won't sort out a), though and you get lots more sympathy if you plonk yourself where everyone can see you all the time.
|
Monday morning is my weigh in time (keeps me on the straight and narrow at the weekend). 3lbs down this week. I started the diet 4 weeks ago today having given birth the Friday before (so little Lucy is a month old today. :)). I hadn't dared to weigh myself throughout the pregnancy. That's 18lbs lost in 4 weeks which is fab but cheating somewhat as lots is pregnancy water weight. Now the hard work really starts!
|
Actually not feeling too bad today.. Did lots of oooing and ahhhing and wailing but to no avail!
my hubby just came and said what`s for tea!! Ate a vvvvv.large piece of wheat free cake today too..would be rude not too when someone makes the effort to make it special. Will have to do much more excercise this week to compensate!!! Roll on Thursday am to see the damage on the scales Kim |
The scales are showing ten stone 3 this morning. Which is very strange
since I have eaten lots since Friday. I will most definitely exercise today. I need to sort out this last ten pounds. Its as hard as facing the five stone I started out needing to lose. Michele |
11st 2 today. Been the same for 2 weeks now. I know that it is normal to get stuck, but it still stinks, particularly as I'm really hungry all the time at the moment. I just want to EAT!
|
11 stone today. At the lower end of my normal weight range, so I'll take that :)
|
Just a pound this week. The first loss in 2 weeks. I've been the same weight for the past 3 weigh ins. :(
I am doing the gym, walking and eating well. But, it's gotten to the point now where it's damn hard. |
Homersmummy - have you tried adding up all the calories you are eating? I'm not saying you should do it every day but it might be interesting to do a check of the actual calories you are taking in.
|
It does get hard unfortunately Hommersmummy, and sometimes it can make you hugely despondent. Just keep at it. Good idea from Sarah though to add up your calories.
I am ten stone one and a bit this morning. SW 14 stone 10lbs CW 10 stone 1 and a quarter lbs GW 9 stone 7 lbs lower is I can |
I know i'm not over doing calories. It seems to be since i've been going to the gym. But, now it's started off again hopefully this will mean it'll carry on.
Just one pound in 3 weigh ins is disappointing. I'm not giving up though... |
Scales Lie
If you are not weighing on the same scale for each weigh-in, there is a chance that the numbers are off. I hope that gives some encouragement to those of you who have been discouraged by recent weigh-ins. I have two different weights. One at home and one at my weight center. I go with what's home ;)
|
It's the same scales each week at slimming world that I weigh on.
I do use scales at home too, which annoys my mum to **** because you're not suppose to weigh yourself daily! But, when I weigh at class I come home and weigh myself on our scales, they're usually spot on. |
Yayyyy!!! I lost a pound. I know its only a pound but better gone than settled around my waist.
Best of all is that I now weigh 12 stone.... something. Okay, its a BIG something - but what the heck! |
Well done you.
How fantastic when you get into the next number down. I am doing my best to get to my next number down also as you must surely be tired of me going on about!! Have a lovely day slim Michele |
Hello Brit ladies. I love that your measurements are so much smaller numbers than pounds!
I am trying to get back into my fabulous wardrobe of size 10s-12's after putting on weight after 2 miscarriages. The last one was just under a year ago - but I have pitied myself into eating more and now I feel like I am in a vicious cycle! Now, don't feel bad for me because I have a beautiful 3 year old son. So that pregnancy took. Quite well. My problem,, I don't recognize myself in the mirror. The face is still pretty good -however - I am starting to look like a middle-aged women. Oh, yeah - I am. However I do not want to look like one. No, I want to look lie Jessica Simpson..or Elizabeth Hurley. So - here goes my venture to lose weight. I think this is a great site with wonderful posts.... and I am very glad I found it at - oh, 3am! I hope that I can guilt myself into being consistant as I fight a busy schedule and general laziness! Just call me TooCurvyMommy. |
