I find Next and Tescos pretty generous on sizes, usually they seem a good size above what they claim to be on the label. I wonder how much is in the eye of the beholder, though, because I overheard two womenin a shop moaning the sizes in tescos were 'too small' and I'd had precisely the opposite experience...

Jeans are out of thequestion for me as I have a 10" difference between waist and hips so if it goes round my bum it gapes massively on the waist - it's always been precisely the same 10" difference, whatever size I've been. In fact, I'm 3 dress sizes - 10 bust, 12 waist, a (large) 14 bum and with massive Tufty the Squirrel thighs - even though I've gone down from a size 20, last July - the thighs are still just as much a problem as when I was a size 20. I'd love to wear jeans but they seem to be made for more tubular shaped women, big or small!

I find Next jeans come up very big. My best fitting jeans are a size 12 from New Look but even these are a little loose on the leg for me, I have the ones that come up higher I can't do that hip thing as my fat belly would hang over
the top. Nice eh!!

I havent been in Miss Selfridge since I was about 21 I think.

I find Marks and Spencers the best for jeans. I am thigh challenged too. My waist is disproportionately small compared to my thunder thighs. But I have had good success in Marks. I was still in Evans jeans until recently as I love their styles! I'll actually quite miss Evans in some ways, I've always managed to find quite nice things in there.

I haven't really got a waist really :( and I never have had one. My bust and hips are the same measurement and my 'waist' is only 3 inches smaller - but I've got long legs wih (I think) decent thighs so I wear jeans virtually all the time. I find the most comfortable jeans for me are the low rise ones (hipsters to us oldies) - as they do away with the waist not being in proportion to my hips.

I'd LOVE to have a decent bust and waist.....

Your welcome to my bust and waist, I want long legs. It's all I've ever wanted, long legs that look great in minis or shorts, and nup, tree stumps are all I have.

But they work and get me from point A to point B so I have to be grateful for that!

I have a 12" difference between my waist and hips and live in jeans! I have long legs too although they don't look very long, I have a 32" or 33" inside leg but I'm 5'6".

micheleherts 04-15-2006 06:05 PM

Oh you lucky girls with your longs legs you are truly blessed.

I am bosoms and belly oh well

I also find M & S the best for jeans. If I get their boot cut ones they usually fit on the thigh (a bit snug but hey ho) and in the length. The waist is always too big and gapes, so I have to wear a belt.

I've got the typical pear shape - small chest, small waist, huge thighs and hips.
Very hard to find trousers or skirts to fit my shape.

I hate clothes shopping unless I'm buying tops.

Well if anyone would like my legs they're welcome to them! :D

Mine are about 35", buying jeans is nearly impossible and long skirts tend to look like they've "shrunk" on me. Without Long Tall Sally or Tall Girls I'd be scuppered. Most of the shops like Topshop and DP do longer length jeans now, but they haven't got their heads round that tall women have different proportions and you just can't get around it by adding a couple of inches to the length.

I have stumpy legs. I've never found any jeans that work for me with that 10" differential - Heva which ones work for you?

I'm starting to get back into jeans I wore about 7 years ago but so far only into the pair I used to think of as my 'fat' jeans! How annoying is that! Any jeans look bad on me because of my fat thighs though, which I hate because I'd live in jeans if I could!

Oh No Phat - Sarahann is right Next are small sizes! I can fit Dotty P trews but am still too big tummed for the Next trews I have. They would cut me in half!

I bought jeans again today and I still don't fit in to a Next size 18 - I didn't even fit in to a Next size 20 - yet I bought a pair of stretch Matalan size 16. (Only a tenner and a lovely fit around the :censored:) Okay - they were low rise - but I still fitted in to a normal height pair of size 18. I was actually really impressed with the range in Matalan.

PhatPhoenix 04-20-2006 04:14 PM

Dh won't let me go in Matalan - now I'm tempted, though...

Heva2015 04-20-2006 06:06 PM

Phat...I tend to get my jeans from the US, do a search on ebay for LEI and I also buy jeans from George at ASDA...I don't like New Look jeans at all. I'm after a pair of Apple Bottoms but they are so expensive!!!

micheleherts 04-20-2006 06:19 PM

I looked on EBay for a designer pair of jeans. Thinking that an expensive pair
may fit my little short legs, little hips and fat tummy better than my New Look jeans. However I couldn't find any with a shorter leg!!!

My friend has given me a lovely pair from Top Shop size 12 but a bit lower waisted so I don't feel as comfortable in them. The legs and hips are a much
nicer fit though. It's so hard sometimes being five feet tall.
