As one who's 5'4" if she stands on tiptoe (and has a DH the same height, or slightly shorter) I can totally relate! :) |
I'm 5'4'' too I used to 5'4''1/2 but I seem to have lost the half :(
I am the tallest by a long shot in my family, and was under the delusion that I was tall for a long long time :D |
Gosh, Helen and Frus are really tall then! I am the tallest woman from my generation back (i.e. mother, sister, grandmothers, aunts all shorter) but all of my nieces are waaaay taller than us.
|
The photos are up! I actually quite like this one, my favourite photo of me running of all the ones I've had taken so far.
|
But how come there's only two of me and EIGHT of Kylie?! Did the photographer really like her? We need to know!
|
How do we find the other piccies?
|
Hi all, I am up for anything the only problem I have is that I can barely run up the stairs let alone 10 k !!!! I am doing a walk the crusiad's walk for life on the 30 July 2006 - that is also only 10 k's but its WALKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If anyone could give me good advice on training for the BUPA RUN- I would greatly appreciate it and then fingers crossed we could do it !!!!! Please let me know what to do re training etc. I will have a little browse through the site in a mo and see what I am letting myself in for!!!!!!!!!! YEH FOR FITNESS AND YEH FOR CHARITY!!!!!!!!! |
Take it slowly. If you can walk 10k then you can take part in something like the BUPA 10k - it's officially a run but the slowest person finished in 2 hours 12 (WAY slower than Kylie ;) ) which isn't far off walking the whole way - the same for a half marathon I did recently, the last finisher took over 4 hours.
But you won't be walking the whole way (and you won't be finishing last either), try to build up your running from 30 seconds (or less) at a time using a programme like couch to 5k (google it) or one of the many plans out there (e.g. the Cancer Research website/BUPA 10k website etc etc). They're all pretty similar. Don't be afraid to repeat days or weeks, and don't try to do your running intervals too fast. You need to build up endurance and speed, but you don't need to do it both at the same time. Don't be afraid of walk breaks, they can really help your training, and make sure you pay attention to little niggles before they become injuries. And ask for help whenever you need it ;) |
Ok I am officially an idiot!!!!!!!!!!!! I only realised now that the run was this past weekend!!!!!!!!!!! But anyhow!!!!!!!!! If anyone still has any training advice that would still be fab!!!!!
|
But there's always next year ;)

To answer Sarah's question the link is http://www2.sportcam.net/site3/publi....php?event=673
Then you can type our race numbers (which are on our shirts in Helen's pics) Mine was 7608. I am sure I got so many pics coz I was so slow they had plenty of time to catch me, you were whizzing too fast!!! I think this is my favourite, despite the flash of tummy you can see!!! http://www2.sportcam.net/site3/publi...1050&event=673 |
I like both of those - this is my fave (I'm actually running here!!!!)
http://www2.sportcam.net/site3/publi...5438&event=673 Oh and I'm officially sorted for our next 3 skinny chicks run in October! :D |
