Another inspired titled thread. :o

veggie 07-01-2005 09:33 AM

Soooooooooooooooo... Live 8 tomorrow I'll be watching all day and all night probably unless something happens in the big brother house   I saw a make poverty history car flag yesterday that's fancier than a wristband. Do other countries have the wristbands or is it just us?

veggie 07-01-2005 09:42 AM

Ooh I've been editing in smilies for the thread titles it make the forum look pretty!

cat90 07-01-2005 04:06 PM

Ain't seen anything on sale for Live8 but its on telly starting at 7am in the morning :dunno: me thinks you are bored today Veggie

stephmcm 07-01-2005 06:02 PM

It's my daughter's twentieth birthday today. She's back from university for the summer holidays.

She's lost about a stone and a half during the academic year, (missing Mum's cooking), and changed shape from a 14top16bottom to a 12top12/14bottom. I took her clothes shopping as a birthday treat and she bought some really skinny jeans and strappy summer tops. She looks fabulous and I am so thrilled for her. She's had all the usual teenage angst about weight and spots etc. and today she has spent the whole day with a cheesy grin.

cat90 07-02-2005 01:21 PM

:cp: Well, Good for Her Steph :)

BritinNJ 07-02-2005 09:44 PM

Watched Live8.. was enjoyable.. VH1 were pretty good by showing me loads of London. Everyone seemed to enjoy it... Hannah's mad at me, cos if we'd have stayed in NJ, we would have been able to go to the Philly one ( wouldn't have minded seeing JBJ, his is CUTE)!

Need to go and do some cleaning, having friends arrive Monday... need to pretend I'm not the slob I really am and didn't sit around all day long watching history in the making :)

kykaree 07-03-2005 03:14 AM

I've been shopping, for my reaching 100 kilos treats, got some lovely sandals at Dorothy Perkins, had never darkened the door there, they were £7, compared to the £35 ones I had seen everywhere else!!! And a juicy tubes lip gloss, Kath and Kim dvd, a pull buoy (for swimming) and a pair of ugly speedo goggles to see if they help the eye situation, coz I am NOT giving up my swimming!!!

cat90 07-03-2005 03:11 PM

Nice one Kyk :D

I watched some of Live8 as well Chris..I must say UK knows how to party :D it was without doubt the best of the lot!

I've been sorting out my closet..I need to downsize (in more ways than one  ) and I found 65 pairs of shoes, boots and sandals in there  I put them all out on the floor and hubby took one look and said "why have you got all that lot? its bloody ridiculous" :lol3: Whats up wi' 'im :?: A girl needs her shoes, right? :bubbles: there is 55 pairs on this pic..anybody need some?

MadamDotty 07-03-2005 03:24 PM

Love the shoes Cat, I must show my hubby as he thinks I have too many shoes, but not compared to you I haven't!

He built me a shoe cupboard a few years ago, originally it was for us both, but my shoes have kinda taken over, and I've a pair on order from Landsend & there's no room left in the cupboard (his all now consigned to the wardrobe) - what's a girl to do

MissKylee 07-03-2005 09:17 PM

I want a hubby who'll build me a shoe cupboard

Or even one who can fix the leaky tap in the bathroom would do!!

BritinNJ 07-04-2005 03:17 AM

LOL @ Imelda Cathy... I have a closet full of shoes, mostly sandals though, I'll have to try and line 'em up and count them one day...
UKer's do know how to party... we were def the best for Live8

4th July celebrations here tomorrow.. now today as it's past midnight... won't be a good point day, hamburgers hot dogs, cheesecake, and such.... and the wedding is in less than a week, I better starve myself after tomorrow... :)

2frustrated 07-04-2005 07:11 AM

Hello everyone!

I have moved... We have the trendiest apartment EVER! But at the moment it's a trendy apartment that's full of JUNK! :o

I have PUT ON WEIGHT! I don't know how much, but my jeans are tight! I've decided to potter on the scales once a month! I've also started weight training and doing the "6 small meals a day" thing! So far it's working... I only started at 7am!

I am going to lift some weights this evening when I get home from WORK! OMG! It's my first day, I feel sooooo old and responsible! But I'm looking forward to having 5pm to 10pm to myself, with no homework to do! No assignments! No stress! No e-mails!

MissKylee, your little puddy tat looks sooooooo cute! I wish I could have mine with me, but our ginger tom, who was really mine, took off one day after he went to live with Dad, but Dad moved back home (V complicated...) and I never saw him again. We were going to look after Mum & Dad's little long haired silver tabby puss but we can't really do that very well on the 9th flr!

Nothing else new to report, apart from our new house is round the corner from a POSH Waitrose supermarket that puts stickers on its bananas that say where they were grown! MADNESS!

Oh despair! I feel like my foray into the working world is stretching out in front of me with no end! It's going to be like this till retirement....... Oh NOOOOOOOOOOO! I guess I'm gonig to have to find new hobbies! I'm going to start horse riding when I'm settled and have been paid! There's stables just round the corner from us!

Oh yeah the shoes... I have 1 HUGE green Tesco delivery box full, one smaller box and a boot box that holds about 6 pairs of shoes! I haven't counted them. I'm to scared! :yikes:

cat90 07-04-2005 09:41 AM

He-he-he  I see i'm not alone with my shoe fetish  I had to throw some out when the count got to 80 Pairs :faint: Where did they all come from? :dunno: ;)

Chris, I can see the fireworks go off (just) in Port Angeles (on a clear night) from my house :) so I'll have my binoc's out ready

Hiya "Posh" Frus  wondered why you were so quiet

Had a rough nights kip so up really early this morning  5am  and i'm still not back at work so it will be a long day. I'm going to have a go at burning some home movies onto disc for Jacqui so that should take up some time :D

2frustrated 07-05-2005 09:33 AM

Cat, your little grandaughter is such a sweetie! BLESS!

I just thought everyone would like to know, that I've just eaten a cheesey oatcake, with a nice slice of sweaty mozzarella on it! :barf: MMMmmmmmm sweaty cheese! I have another one and another slice to go! I'm trying to build up the courage!

Ho hum! My little bikie's a bit poorly! There's no charge left in the battery... I think it might have run dry :o either that or a lead's come off somewhere! I'll have to limp home with no indicators! WHOOPS! I could ask the dudes in the workshop for a screwdriver and have a look, but they might think I'm just silly! Hehehehehe!

cat90 07-05-2005 02:30 PM

I'd ask for the screwdriver  hope you get it fixed Frus :) I don't fancy your cheesy oatcake with sweaty cheese on it :barf: I'm GOING to treadmill in a min before I have brekky which will be frozen blueberry pancakes I think :chin: or a ham ommlette :T I MUST exercise though..so make sure that I do :D

YP1 07-05-2005 03:24 PM

I'm feeling proud of myself. I got back off holiday at 4.30am and had to work today. But I didn't resort to eating rubbish, no I went to the 24 hour tesco at 4.35am to get healthy supplies, and then even managed to go to the gym before work. Oh how I've changed.

Race for life tomorrow, so I'm trying to get a fairly early night to catch up on some sleep.

I bought some lovely new hair straighteners as a reward for getting to some goal or other. I haven't decided which yet, as I make so many mini goals for myself, but I'm sure I've earned them. I couldn't use them this morning as I had to get an adaptor for them (damn Spanish plugs, but still worth the extra £3 to get them cheaper in the first place), but I'm all sorted to have lovely straight hair now.

The scale this morning showed a different (higher) figure to the one on my ticker (217 this morning), but I always like to give it a week after getting back to get rid of any water or temporary random gain, so I won't update it just yet. And hopefully I won't need to ;)

And anyway I'm happy, I wore those size 16 jeans constantly on holiday, just because I could :D

cat90 07-05-2005 03:49 PM

Good for you YP :cp:

I did go on my treadmill :D and now its 10 to 1 and I still have'nt had anything to eat and ain't my stomach telling me :hun: so it looks like i'll be having the ham ommlette for lunch :T and boy will I enjoy it :)

2frustrated 07-06-2005 04:56 AM

Ooh yummy! Ham omlette!

I had a strange strange thing last night... Basically it was banana flavoured American Breakfast Pancakes, but made with the strangest things! I've been reading the stumptuous website for weight training! (Although I've still to pick up a dumbell... :sssh: ) Anyway, so these pancakes were made with beaten eggs (ok) cottage cheese (HMMMMMMMMMM) :chin: a banana and porridge oats!!!! It was completely bonkers! But it tasted luvverly and not at all like cottage cheese! He he he!

I'm going to try and get to kickboxing on Thurs I hope I hope I hope! I wanna go, but am getting majorly tired from 2 hours on the motorbike every day! OUCH! Maybe when I've settled into my routine a bit more I won't be so tired! :tired:

2frustrated 07-06-2005 07:53 AM

:cheer:Go London:cheer:

veggie 07-06-2005 08:50 AM

YAY :D I am shocked we never get anything. :hat: :faint:

YP1 07-06-2005 04:08 PM

Yay indeed. Always nice to get one over on the French ;)

Anyway, I'm on :cloud9: at the moment. I did Race for Life in 28 minutes 37 seconds. Check the exercise thread for more details as I'm too tired to type it again!

kykaree 07-06-2005 06:35 PM

Very exciting, I loved it when Sydney had the Olympics. I must say I was a bit shocked today when I did the maths, by the time we get the limpics, I will be 40 I say 40!!!!! I thought I might put my name down to be a volunteer, how cool would that be??? YP1 might be in the marathon, and frus might be in the kickboxing if we can get that to be a demonstration sport, start the lobbying now peoples!!!

Congratulations on the run YP1, you're my heroine!!! Even though I hate you. Oh and if you haven't tried them there are some really good low fat dressings out, there is a fat free Kraft tomato and basil, lovely on pasta, and a Kraft cucumber and yoghurt, which is gorgeous!

Well Done YP :bravo:

Yeh, you're right Veggie..England never gets owt  but you have now :D

Oooh, its after 5pm and I have'nt exercised yet  why did'nt I do it this morning :?: i'm much better getting it over with first thing  maybe its cuz I had yet another rough nights sleep  and then when I finally fell asleep I was wakened by a loud crash at 5am :yikes: :fr: the ironing board that I had set up in my bedroom fell over from all the weight of the clothes that i've been meaning to iron for days  took me hours to get off again and then I felt like crap when I got up at 10.30am..never again..I never stay in bed until that time and i've had backache all day  i'm going to treadmill though..I AM..I AM :D

That's AWESOME, YP1 - yay you!!!

And about getting one over the French.... yep, can totally understand the sentiment. i'm a new zealander (won't be mentioning the lions' tour) and NZ people in general.... aren't fans of the French (nuclear testing, bombing of rainbow warrior, 1999 world cup semi).... I could go on. But I wont. Instead I'll focus on HOW AWESOME it is that London got the Olympics. It will be really great for East London, and a really really exciting time.

I'll be *calculates quickly* THIRTY SIX by then :dizzy:

YP1 07-07-2005 01:03 AM

I'll be 34. Not too bad. But still a bit eek-worthy. Maybe I'll just about be young enough to sneak into the marathon...

kykaree 07-07-2005 01:49 AM

In the Commonwealth games in Kuala Lumpur, an Australian marathon runner called Heather Turland won it, she was 38!!! Marathon runners are often older, you need a bit of life experience and stamina to be a good marathon runner.

http://www.openplanet.com.au/content...s/turland.html (it's a bit religious, it's a catholic magazine that I found, but it was the best interview with her I could find!!!)

2frustrated 07-07-2005 08:10 AM

Hahaha I like the idea of being in the Olympic Kickboxing! Yay me! Hahahahaha

I'll be 29 GULP! That's grown-up!

Went to see Jack Dee last night with Lee Mack, and some irish dude whose name I can't remember but was all very good!

veggie 07-07-2005 08:13 AM

I hate you all, you are all far too young. Oh well today in London bit different from yesterday I see on the news. :(

YP1 07-07-2005 02:12 PM

The marathon it is then.

Although, in all seriousness, I'm very close to signing up for a 10k in September. 10 and a bit weeks to prepare for it. Should be do-able?

In fact, sadly, my main concern is that I've already squeezed everyone I know dry for sponsorship money, I'd be wasting a place if I sign up and don't collect much money. It's not even the distance that's bothering me!

I am a little concerned at the enthusiasm everyone I know is showing for getting me to sign up for it. Are they just trying to kill me?

Edit - I'm so close to signing up that I've just clicked the confirm button. Oh god. What have I done?

MissKylee 07-07-2005 11:51 PM

Very proud of you, YP1 - you are doing so well to be considering doing something like that, and aside from it being a sponsorship thing, I think just participating is doing your bit!!

*big hugs to you*

miranoron 07-08-2005 04:37 AM

My sister in New York called me last night and said my mum had an abnormal pap smear. She was in hospital yesterday having a cervical biopsy to find out if it's indeed cancer or not. The results aren't back yet but I'm kind of in shock. Yeesh, first terrorists bomb London and now this. Someone up there must be having a bit of fun with me, eh? :stress:

2frustrated 07-08-2005 05:44 AM

poor miranon, I hope your mum's ok. I've heard that most abnormals are sometimes because they didn't do it right in the first place and only a very tiny portion of the abnormals result in cancer :grouphug:

miranoron 07-08-2005 05:57 AM

Thanks 2frus, I've heard that too and I'm hoping that's what happened. I'll keep my fingers crossed. :crossed:

veggie 07-08-2005 10:12 AM

Miranoron :grouphug:

YP go for it you know you want to

YP1 07-08-2005 01:11 PM

Miranoron, my sister went through something very similar recently. She had an abnormal smear and they found pre-cancerous cells. She needed a biopsy and then another visit to hospital where they removed the rest of the cells, but has been told that all should be fine long term. I hope you get the same news.

MadamDotty 07-08-2005 03:08 PM

:grouphug: to you Miranon. I've been through it twice, and both times it's all been fine, to move from Pre-cancerous cells to actual cancer, it's quite a difference and it's a tiny, tiny percentage of women with abnormal, or pre-cancerous cells that get cancer.

Keep your chin-up

YP1 07-10-2005 04:29 PM

Very good day today, considering. I was going to a university friend's house for a barbeque and expected to go way off track. I didn't!

First of all some breakfast, then 6k and some weights at the gym. It had got to about 12pm, and we were only meeting up at 2. I worked out we probably wouldn't actually eat much before 3 or 4 so to stave off any overeating later I decided to have a quick spinach and chicken salad before setting off. Then I managed to resist the alcohol offered all afternoon (I was driving, but would usually have one early on to give it time to wear off), drank bucketloads of water (about 6 glasses that were nearly pint sized), then had 2 sausages, 1 spring onion and chicken kebab and 2.5 vegetable kebabs. Yes! I ate more veggie stuff than sausages!

I even controlled my ice cream intake - I just had a small spoon full.

Today was never meant to be a day for watching what I ate too carefully, and I'm ecstatic that I managed to get away with that little damage on something that was always going to be dangerous.
