Hellooooooooo, I have to say I didn't realise we needed a June thread either. Oops. have had a few shots, feeliong good.....
Welcome Julie, Cathy, LOL @ the forgetting bills, I've done that before too, the first payment on my car, they were none too pleased! Stopping typing now, feel I have quite a buzzz :) |
 Ah I see we have moved home to our June abode!! Thank you veggie! Like Chris, I too had not really noticed the " May" bit in the thread title!!! :o
Welcome to Lekker.. I shall sneak off and have a look at your profile... :s: Not much news this end really. I and my neighbour went to The Suffolk Show during the week. The weather could have been rather better than it was, but it could also have been worse!! I loved the Lusitana horses...so delicate in their extended trot and so beautiful at the end when they bow! Loads and loads of sheep and cattle as well as chickens and a few ducks but no pigs!! Lots of horses too. And lots of interesting goodies in the food hall!! :dizzy: We were very good though..didn't try everything!! |
Hi everyone.
Harry Potter was Ok last night, not as good as the others (I think) although the friends we went with all thought it was really great, so maybe it's just me who's odd. Eating had been ok (just!!!) until the pictures last night then I had pop corn and wine later on, today I have had crisp sandwiches for lunch, really healthy and we are having an indian takeaway later on and probably the rest of the wine. Will need to stick to plan 100% for all of next week. The weather is really nice here today although it is a little windy. I would love to have gone and done something, but the boys have disappeared out with their friends. Not bad considering they (my two and the two brothers they chum around with) got into trouble at school this week for fighting each other. Work has been hectic- enough about that. Am off to do yet another load of washing and to tidy the kitchen, am having a very exicting day not. |
Hi there everyone,
Chris - I hope no one minded that I pointed out the thread title! ;) Teel - thanks for the welcome! Carol - it's interesting that you thought the latest Harry Potter movie wasn't as good - I've heard all raving reviews from friends of mine. I'm quite excited to go see it! Although, I'm never too concerned about whether it follows the books exactly or not. As long as I come out of a theatre with a smile on my face, feeling content, then I'm happy with a movie. I intended to go tonight, but I've realized that the Calgary Flames might possibly win the Stanley Cup tonight! (that's the 'big prize' for the NHL - professional hockey league over here, for those that don't follow hockey). So, I'm actually heading over to my friends house to watch the (ice) hockey game. Harry & co. will have to wait for tomorrow night. :) I'm actually surprised that I have been able to hold off going to see the movie for so long. Nothing held me back for Lord of the Rings! (Oh, and didn't I feel like a complete tool at work the other day when my supervisor walks in and I have this *huge* computer background of Aragorn right in front of our faces!) :D I'm eating a bit off my plan today. See, tonight, I know that we'll drink some beer while watching the hockey game, so I have this bad habit of thinking, "oh well, if I'm going off plan tonight anyway, I won't worry about the plan all day." Which, of course, is not the best way to lose weight! I've got to stop doing that! Hope you're having a good weekend! Julie |
Julie, I'm sure noone minded you mentioning about the thread title :) We all seem to gas on and on and didn't seem to nootice, we're quite a chatty bunch.
Doesn't feel like June here today though, it's wet and chilly. Have been to curves this morning and had a good workout, was awfully sweaty going round, think I might have been sweating the alcohol out of me from those shots last night :) Teel, hello luv, the Suffolk show? You're making me homesick, I used to love going there, we seemed to go every year on a school trip and it always piddled down and you slopped through the mud, but it was always great :) Am supposed to be going to the movies tomorrow, to see Troy, Hannah has a friend sleeping over tonight and now our power outage has been switched from today, until tomorrow, we'd better get out the house and do something. That's it for now, oh yes, where's Kirsty gone? Haven't seen much of her this past week. Are you all right luv? |
Hi Girls,
No Hangover then Chris :?: i had a terrible one last week and ended up lying on the settee all day Saturday :p i hate that! and i always say 'never again' but i seem to forget that part  I did'nt forget to pay the bills Chris i forgot to post the envelopes  once, i put a load of them in the glove compartment in my car and forgot about them too and hubby got a lot of demands :o he never did find out what really happened  in future i won't hide them out of sight i'll leave them in plain view ;) i'm having a piggy weekend :ink: on purpose :dunno: don't know why i just think i deserve it  so i'll have to be an  starting on Monday like Carol. Julie, i'm gonna have a few beers tonight too, not watching hockey tho' and i won't have to many cos i've got to be up at 4am for work  Gonna put my pizza on and grab a cold one :T  |

[QUOTE=Lekker]Chris - I hope no one minded that I pointed out the thread title! ;)
Lekker...it gave me a good laugh!!! :D  Chris..I will make you very jealous now!! The Suffolk show was great and the terrain good and dry as it did not rain until we were there in the afternoon and then only a short gentle shower, so we were not slopping around in the mud! It was wonderful to see the Lusitano Horses doing their stuff, so elegant in their movements! The food hall was the best place   ;) and we sampled a few items..Giffords Hall Wine (I tried the stawberry) and various dips and chutneys and the smoked salmon.... :smug: I have just had a phone call from a friend who I have been trying to contact for ages...leaving txts on her mobile...now I know why I haven't got through to her...she's got a new mobile!! :dizzy:  I went to the theatre last night to see Blazing Fiddles. Friends bought me the ticket for my birthday in 9 days time. Blazing Fiddles are a group of 5 fiddle players, a guitarist and a keyboard player, all from Scotland. They were so full of energy it made me exhausted to watch! They were excellent fiddle players and the theatre was packed to bursting. My friends had seen them once before and raved on about them last time, quite rightly so I have to aggree. It is 21 degrees here in Suffolk at the moment. :sunny: :sunny: I am getting some practise in the warm weather for when I go to Salzburg at the end of the month!! The hound is flaked out on the floor beside me....but still finds enough energy to bark at the cats living next door...we are now surrounded by cats....at that very moment Holly sprinted out in to the garden...but she is not barking at anything....perhaps she was dreaming! :cb: :cb: Oh well, better go and get on with the day....lunch time here. Here is the dog back again!! Mention the word lunch and she'll find all the reserves of energy and sprint into the kitchen! Love her to bits. |
Good Morning Girls
Forgot to turn the timer off on the telly so that came on at 4am  i was awake anyway but i use it as a backup in case there is ever an extreme possibility that i might be asleep one of these days  i wish! Got up and i'm just altering a dress, making it into a top to wear with jeans. Work yesterday was bedlam :rollpin: i got all the prices changed just before the store opened :stress: and was putting up the "as advertised" signage when the manager told me to leave it and to put my money off coupons up, i told him there was'nt any  and he said there must be and took me upstairs to look for them and they were just thrown all over the desk not in the usual place where the supervisor puts them  it was 9.30am (i finish at 10am) by then and i had'nt had my break and i did'nt get one either :( plus i finished 25 minutes later than i should, so that is another 40 minutes unpaid work they have gotten out of me :p i was talking to another girl just before i left the store and she told me that a guy that used to do my job used to come in ONE HOUR before his normal starting time because the supervisor gave him so much work and he just could'nt get it done in time :yikes: he worked 5hrs a week without pay! And the girl i've replaced only lasted 6mths but she is relocating so she has a good excuse  although i know for a fact that she does'nt like our supervisor. She also said that the supervisor used to laugh about what a mug he was for doing it! I would be livid if i heard she was saying the same about me  I told hubby yesterday that even tho' i really like the job i'm not happy with all the stress involved with getting it done and the fact that they don't give you enough time to do it :( i've worked at least 4hrs extra without pay on only 7 shifts and yesterday i was up at 3.30am to earn (just wait till you hear how hubby put it) enough money to buy a case of beer!!! I don't know whether to see my supervisor and tell her i'm not prepared to work for free or just leave it :dunno: if i leave it tho' i know i'll carry on staying behind until everything is done and i don't want her laughing at my expense either. The trouble is i'm really conscientious and like to do my best and its not the sort of job you can just leave unfinished although hubby say's 'why not?' I don't know what would happen if i just said "right, its 10am i'm off" and just left it cos its not like there is anyone else to take over where you leave off, you've just got to finish it. I thought it was TGTBT finding a job that i actually enjoy doing :lol3: i'll let you know the outcome ;) Kirsty, LOL @ "gone to the big wheel in the sky" :lol3: |
Coo blow that for a game of soldiers, Cathy! All those extra hours worked for no extra pay! I t sounds as if you are working in the NHS!! I would have to REALLY enjoy the job if I had to get up at that unearthly hour to start!! That is the middle of the night! :p
You must be very talented to be altering a dress...I can't even take up a hem! I am afraid my sewing skill ends at putting on buttons!! :lol3: :lol3: Hope the sun is shining over there? :sunny: :sunny: Here in Suffolk we are having a little heatwave...it's 25 degrees now.. :sunny: :sunny: :bubbles: |
Lucky you Sheila :sunny: it was gorgeous yesterday and i got a ton of yardwork done but we're off to a drizzly start today although "they" have promised :sunny: later :) i don't have many complaints about the weather here, we have a beautiful climate and summers are guaranteed to be long and hot :D so the odd spot of rain is welcome.
I got the idea for the dress from Y & R :chin: i had originally lengthened it cos it was knee length and i like my "knock" knees covered :lol3: then when i was watching Y & R (don't know if you get that over there) Sharon was wearing a really pretty top and the hem was cut on a slant and i thought it would be a good idea for my dress ;) it should look nice :D |
My supervisor has just called to ask if i can work in the morning and she said that i'd done fine yesterday so i told her it was **** and that i had'nt got a break and had stayed behind yet again  and she said she will pay me for it :cb: so i'm a happy cat again :D
|
well cathy those who blow there own horns get the benefits and if you dont speak up for yourself nobody else will got a call form ds in germany so im a happy mummy again by the way where is veggie ??? anyway just had to clean ds fish tank as we had a snail problem so im a wee bit soggy and smelly so im goping to go and take the dogs out and have a shower speak to you all later
kirsty |
have just eaten the most enormous baked potato with baked beans, there were only a couple of scoops of beans. Didn't fancy my sandwich so I went to the canteen at work and will probably not need to eat every again.
best go back to work and try and burn off some cals with some brain work :) wish I could just go home |
I'm here  ;)
|
Well, just think Carol that enormous spud would be "FREE" on a green day :lol3: my daughter is always eating stuff like that and shes as thin as a rail  well, no she is'nt :nono: she has a great figure and i wished i looked like her in a pair of jeans :cloud9:
It was nice and peaceful at work yesterday cos there had been a fire during the night so we were closed  meant that i got to work without shoppers asking me what aisle they could find Q tips etc ;) my super popped in to input my hours into the computer and i said to her i thought you were going to pay me for working extra :?: she said that that would go on next months and that i had to let her know what days i'd done extra  we clock in! the computer should tell her what she owes me  i think she's only going to give me the 15 minutes for that missed break anyway :rollpin: cos she said "don't stay behind without asking a manager first". I think a little bit of skiving is in order   I thought i was going to be late yesterday cos my car was playing up  it looked like it was my radiator  there was steam pouring out of the vents and rising from the bonnet and i was choking it smelt so bad :p i had to pull over a couple of times :( but i 'limped' into work and called hubby during my break who quickly diagnosed that it was the heater core and it would be alright to drive as long as i checked my rad before i left, when i got home he fixed it by cutting off the hoses and re-routing them so that i don't have a heater anymore :yikes: :rollpin: he said i don't need one at this time of year and we'll worry about it when i do :o i told him i'll need it when i'm going to work at 4.30am in winter and his last sentence was "it'll probably have blown up before then" :censored:  cheeky so and so  Feel lazy today and i've completely lost the plot with eating and i'm devouring every chocolate biccy in the house and have been for days :( it started with that pizza then progressed to a big bag of chocolates then biccies and now i'm eating anything  I'll probably show a gain this week cos i've worked for it  i've got to get back on track, i want to lose 20lbs by mid August :cb: so i can't afford these relapses. |
laidies doing mega housework but kiddie home tomorrow so ill try and get in for a blether later
kirsty |
Hey, what ya all up to? :dunno: i can see you Kirsty so start blethering  i've nowt much to say this morning  P.O.'ed with myself for letting myself :ink: out all week :p just wondering whether to treadmill or start feeding myself today :lol3: i think feeding myself will win somehow :dunno:
|
OK I've been here before and you've heard it all before but I have to do this (apologies over)
I have to find my serious head, I want to lose weight, I want to be healthy and I want to feel good about myself, plus a whole load of other reason, all to do with me. I want to lose this weight for me, not for anybody else, although I have no doubt that if I was a bit thinner we as a family could have more fun instead of me always moaning on about how big I am, how hot I am, how tight my jeans are and so on and so on. So I want to do it, what is stopping me As Cathy says in her signature ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can eat alright until the evening and then things fall apart at the seams. The solution seems to be to find other things to do in the evening to keep me away from the fridge and too busy to have time to over eat. My big problem is what plan suits me best, WW, SW or just watching what I eat Just Watching What I Eat - doesn't really work for me because I just kid myself that that big portion is really healthy and if I have a couple of apples after those 2 (or 3) packets of crisps then that will balance it out WW - does work for me but is restrictive. Can't find a leader I like as much as Gail I went to last year and she has vanished off the face of the earth. It is easier than counting calories as I only have to do sums up to 24 Which brings me back to SW. It was very easy to do that first week, when I worked at it and then I fell to bits. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance. I know Veggie has posted lots of links to recipes, etc. Maybe I should give it another go. Nearly signed up on line until I realised I would have to pay £60 for the priviledge cos you have to sign up for 3 months minimum. Not sure my fragile commitment could stretch to that. Not really in the frame of mind to go to a class at the moment, feeling a bit like been there done that, now I've got the T shirt, only it doesn't fit me. Think I need to give this some serious thinking, at the moment am swayed by SW but I know that I can do WW long term and lose but then I gained it all back apart from half a stone. Why isn't life simple, why can't one of these science boffins just invent a pill which will let me lose 6 stone over night I know the answer really eat less and move more, simple really :cb: :cb: :cb: If only:) |
Decision made, guess I just had to write it all down to sort it out in my mind. Am going to give SW a test run for the next 4 weeks.
Although I know WW like the back of my hand, do I really want to go back to reading all the sat fat values and being left with no points in the evening and been forced to nibble (if my life depended on it) on pickles and sugar free jelly or standing in my kitchen blowing the white of the eggs out so I can make a point free omellette. No so SW here I come. I will drive you all scatty with this but you should be used to it :dizzy: Watch out I am back in the driving seat and I will kick butt :dizzy: thank you ladies for listening (reading) have a great Saturday I know I am going to |
You don't have to sign up online I'm sure there's a kind member who would give you the weekly password to the members site ;)
|
carol i had to decied to do it on my own and im loving it i dont feel guilty if i want a packet of chrisps and im managing great i even drink plenty of water too   im coping so well i gave up smoking today i thought if i can cope with no coke i can cope with no fags :smoking: you know im saying this now but as i only stopped today by tomorrow i might have changed my mind   :censored: :censored: :yikes: :yikes:   thats if dh and ds,s dont have me commited or murdered by then but what the hey ill give it a try and if i fail i try again :cheer: :cheer: im my own best cheer leader and the encouragement i get off dh and kids make it all worth while as im the only smoker in the house and i want to buy expensive curtains and cushions but wont do it because of the nicotine and i tend to buy the cheapest wallpapers because i know that in a year ill have to rip them all down againas theyll be ruined by the smoke so just decied you want to do this for yourself and stick to it you run a house work bring up kids and cope with a man surely your not going to let a little thing like an appetite beat you
kirsty |
Appetite what's that :dizzy:
Ended up going out with two friends last night to a local chinese buffet. I was very controlled with my eating was having a green day and didn't have too much meat but lots of noddles (probably all cooked in oil, but the thought was there) Shame I wasn't so good with the wine. Think we drank about 5 bottles between the three of us. Feel a bit fragile this morning, that should teach me. So today I am having another green day as it suits best what I have in the house. Am trying to persuade Sean to go to the shop and get some eggs for his poor 'ill' mother so I can have am omelette and baked beans, but he ain't for moving Booked a holiday yesterday for me and the boys. Ray has used all his holidays up on his two gliding courses, so we are off to Dornoch caravan park in the middle of July. Never been there before it is the other side of Inverness so will be a long drive with Steven no doubt asking how much further it is, every couple of minutes once we are past Perth Best go and try and sober up. The boys want to go swimming, but i am not fit to drive, is a slight problem. Will need to find a solution to that one and quick |
Meant to say good for you Kirsty on the stopping smoking
|
Thats the spirit Carol :cp: now i hope some of that will rub off on me  don't know why i can only go for so long doing great and then 'rebel' and eat everything in the house :rollpin: i've already had 4 slices of toast with butter this morning :dunno: i need to get my serious head back on too  relatives come over in 2 mths and i would really like to get 20lbs off by then :D
Congratulations on quitting smoking Kirsty :bravo: Hey Veggie, i'm sure there are some very grateful people here that would love to know the SW p/word :sssh: ;) i for one am very :nose: and like to peek at whats going on  |
I pmed you quickly Cathy as I have email alerts on
I been on Russian ship today :) Walked for hours am now v red. Had lovely veg wrap with sour creme, tasty but impossible to eat outdoors whilst watching speed boat racing :p http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/...h32uk/ship.jpg |
Sounds very glamourous Veggie. I've been to Asda, not quite in the same league.
|
Hey people I'm having a dead exciting day reading about the absolute conception of reality and cooking (but not eating!) sausages for revising bf and drunk house mate. I only have 600 calories left today :( I've got WELL bored of dieting recently and ate a load of biscuits last night. Hopefully when I turn 20 next month I'll lose that "can't be arsed" teenage attitude he he.
|
 i still can't be arsed Dill and i've just turned 50 :yikes:  so don't count on it  mind you i've only had a weight problem for a few years so i did'nt need to be arsed before  600 cals is a lot  you can have some good stuff for that :T
Whats the Russian Ship all about Veg :?: glad you had a nice day :D Right now Carol going to Asda would be a real treat for me :lol3: think i'm digging grass out of the cracks in the rock wall again today  |
Quote:
I wish I was 20 Dill  ;) |
Bummer about the pics Veg :(
I did'nt dig i just drank beer  ;) |
WOW Cathy,
I'd have never put you at fifty! you look awesome and SO much younger. Veg, where's this Russian ship then? And Carol, hope you're feeling less fragile and Kirsty, good for you on giving up the fags. I did it once and did great, but sad to say, I'm back on them but planning to stop again soon, need to get this grub stuffing down gob down to a fine art first though! Rolling pin hit please everyone. Thanks in advance :) |
Hello everyone my name is Lisa, I introduced myself in the "Hello, I'm........." forum last week.
This weekend I was trying to work out how much weight I have to lose and how i'm going to do it. The amount was easy to work out but not easy to face I need to lose 9 stone (aarrghh I typed that really fast so it didn't sound so bad). I know it will be hard but I have to do it this time, and keep it off for good. It's doing my health no good and I don't just mean physical health, I can't bear to look in the mirror and my self esteem is non existent. So I have decided to start on Saturday 19 June. I like a start day so I can get in the foods I need and get my mind straight. But start what hhmmm I have tried slim fast, weight watchers, slimming world, Rosemary Connolly and they all worked for a while but I couldn't stick to them and put back more weight than i lost. :( I'm thinking of just trying to eat low fat, low calorie meals, three meals a day and one snack. Hhmmm well I have until Saturday to work it out. :) Sorry I have been chatting on for ages. :o :blah: |
Chat away Lisa :D I have 7 stone something to lose now, for the first time ever I think it could possibly happen  I know what you mean about your self esteem going. I feel so much better having lost three stone ( I lost about 10 pounds before sw) I can walk for miles instead of my back hurting just going up the street. I can just about keep up with my (dog walking for miles twice a day) sister. I'll probably put on this week now having said that.
The ship? Was a festival on over the weekend was good I am so red though :o . |
Hi Lisa, Welcome if I didn't say so before :) Don't worry about your amount of weight you need to lose, take baby steps. When you start next week, once you've filled your cupboards with healthy foods, set yourself a small target to lose. If you keep thinking in 9 stone figures, it might scare you more than a small number to lose in a certain time.
When I first started WW in Jan 2003, I set myself 10 pound losses in six weeks and for the most part managed to do each goal. Of course, I have yo-yo'ed a bit and even though I've lost 34 pounds since starting, I still need to lose at least another 40 to be at a healthy weight. I don't go to meetings, don't really have the time, but the support from this lot of lovelies help;s me get through the tough times. Saying that, I am needing a few bangs with the rolling pin right now..........ooooooo sounds a bit kinky! But I did good OP yesterday and plan on being super good again today. Make sure you drink a good water intake each day, I found it hard as first, but now I have no trouble drinking my required six BIG glases a day, and most days, I drink more as I'm more active, have more energy and am more thirsty. Veg, put some aloe on your sunburn love, I read that you've been having beautiful days over there recently :) My Mum and her man just spent a week in the Cotswolds, had a lovely time and the weather was more than perfect for them. Meanwhile, it's getting muggy here again, still at least when it's muggy, I can hope I'll sweat some fat off :) Am not going to work today, one week and three days until I'm done, so called in sick... Have a great day everyone :) |
Hi Veggie and Chris. :)
You are right Chris I do need to think smaller, and set smaller targets every time I think 9 stone I think "no it can't be done" :( I think I need to take it half a stone at a time. :) Well done on losing three stone, Veggie. :) |
Hi everyone
I've been a member here for ages, but have very rarely posted, and usually only pop in occasionally. I've been dieting half heartedly for (g*d knows how many) years!! But I now have some health problems and another lurking in the wings, and I know that 2 of these 3 things will be helped by my losing weight. Unfortunately the 3rd is an underactive thyroid, which slows down your metabolism and, if it doesn't make you put on weight, it makes it very difficult to lose what you have already! :( I'm sort of following Slimming World at the moment. I was going to a class and lost a stone, but then lost the plot and put some of it back on, but the last couple of weeks I seem to have got back "in the mood" (if you can ever be in the mood for dieting!). Weighed myself on the fancy scales in Tesco (which tell you your BMI etc) and have lost 2.5 lbs in the week up to last Saturday, so I'm very pleased about that! :) Feeling quite positive at the moment. Hope to "talk" to you more soon. Best wishes Sandie Ps, will post a proper introduction on the other thread later. |
Hello am very very tired. Took me ages to fall asleep last night and then I woke up with Ray when he got up at 6, even though I could have slept through to 7:30. So now I am paying for it.
Eating has been very good today, infact I have been an  Just need to keep it up tomorrow as well Hello and goodnight to every one am off to iron 2 karate suits and a shirt for me for work tomorrow and then off to bed. |
Hi! There was the Grand Prix here this weekend, so lots of cars and tourists milling about. They closed of lots of streets for the demos. One street was just lined with Ferraris! They're also bringing those Smart cars to Canada this fall and they had a couple demos driving around the city during the Grand Prix week. They're trying to market them to the city-commuter market.
Lisa - I'm also trying to think in baby steps as well. I'm not sure how much a stone is (14 lbs?) but I'm sure I've got a lot of them to lose! :^: Whenever I think of the actual number of lbs, I get of a bad attitude and think 'it'll never happen,' and that just isn't very productive for weight loss. So now I'm really trying to think in smaller steps to keep my motivation up. Lots of talk about weight loss/eating plans lately....as for me, at the moment, I'm following the Atkins plan, which typically isn't that popular in the media, but it seems to work well for me so far. I eat tons more vegetables than I ever did before (at least 3 cups a day, when before, I could probably go with none! :^: ) and I'm getting more of an idea of what kinds of food fill me up, what the healthy foods actually are etc. So hopefully from this I can develop a healthy way of eating. :) Ciao, Julie. :) |
