Slimming world
Anyone here doing Slimming world?
When I was on here a few years back there was a support thread and I can't seem to see anything like that now. Can anyone point me in the direction of a SW support thread? Or shall we start a new one up? I have just rejoined. Successfully lost half a stone so far in two weeks. This week is going well - I am still trying to get my head round the new extra easy plan. It was all red and green days when I was doing it before. Attempted two SW recipes this week so far: Diet Coke Chicken - was yummy and synfree Smash pizza - disintergrated into mash lol but still delicious Im planning on trying the ham, egg, been and chip bake this weekend in the current mag. I'm struggling at the moment though - going through one of those ravenously hungry all the time phases and just want to stuff my face with carbs even though I know I don't do well with them. Very frustrating and I hope it passes soon as my losses have completely stalled at the moment. Grit teeth and work through it time :) There are soooo many good recipes. have you looked at the new soup book? I've got loads of ideas from that and have made up some really yummy and filling soups this week. :) |
I have just ordered the soup book. Hopefully my consultant will have it for me on monday. Looking forward to trying to make some homemade soups!

Hi I'm following slimming world have been for about 8 months I had lost 3 stone but after breaking my arm and Christmas getting in the way I'm now at just a 2 stone 6lb total loss.
I can't wait for the mint/choc mullers I plan on making them into ice cream :D |

I can't wait to join you and have lost that! Xmas stuffed me up too but we will get our chrimbo weight off again soon! Yes that was my plan too. Put the mint muller in the freezer and ta daa syn free mint choc chip ice cream. Tryed sainsburies last night and none yet. Got my mate going to Morrisons today so she said she would pick me some up if they had em. Fingers crossed! |

I am doing SW myself at home because there is no meeting in my part of Ireland. A friend of mine is doing it but she lives an hour away, so she gave me some of the books. Absolutely love it, its the first plan i have come across that just makes sense and it totally works for me. Never had much success with calorie counting or with ww, even when i was 100% on plan, but find slimming world suits me really well. Was reading about that mint choc muller light! so excited! and did you see that they are bringing out a dairy milk flavour philidelphia light? 4syns per 30g apparently! |
I'm so jealous :o LOL. I live in Canada we don't have slimming world but I look at the website and I do have a few recipes in a binder I could use but we don't have a lot of the things that you need over here :( Ham, Egg, Bean and Chip Bake sounds delicious! i'd love to try that :D Oh well, i'll watch you progress all the same ;) Good Luck Ladies :wave:

You can order them online from Tesco if you do your shop online? They dont specifically say mint but if you see 'Muller Light Limited Edition Yogurt' and look at the packaging it is the mint choc one.

I thought the mint mullers werent out until the end of feb? cant remember where i read that. Havent seen them either, but think they will be so delish!
Doing pretty well here. Found some low syn treats, as i was finding myself clawing at the cupboards in the evenings. curly wurly for 6, snack a jacks for 3.5, 5 jelly beans for 1. I dont use my syns with my meals, so i have them to spend on a small treat in the evenings. |

I finally got my hands on the mint Muellers yesterday - won them in the raffle :)
I got over my stall and have now hit 4st 6lb lost - but best of all my BMI has now tipped into the healthy range and for me that's the biggest win of all! A little tip for you all - google superspeed soup and you'll find the recipe on the ******** website. It's fab, very filling and I can vouch for it's effectiveness. I lost 4lb this week after living on it for 3 days!! Cat 90 - shout if you want some recipes and we'll see if we can help :) |
Hello, I started slimming world a couple of weeks ago and I am struggling. I am doing extra easy and I stick to my syns allowance and have my a's and b's and all my free and super-free foods but in two weeks I have lots 1lb, just 1lb, my boyfriend who's only difference is his breakfasts and lunches has lost 10lb. He does not deliberately make me feel bad and he says 'don't worry, it's a loss, it's a step in the right direction' but he can't help but be a bit smug about how well he is doing. Why is it not working? I read in the magazine about a girl whose starting and goal weight are the same as mine and she did it in 5 months at this rate it'll take me 5 years. I'm not expecting miracles and although I get my clap and a little encouragement every week, not including those who gain or maintain, I am the smallest loss.

Another 2lb down and I really don't deserve it.
Saturday night I was just craving wine and chocolate. I ended up eating a whole box of malteasa's and drinking vino. But by some miracle, still lost another 2lb. Im nearly back under 20 stone which is an achievement. Can't wait to hit the 270's and start heading further downwards. Coats fitting better and I treated myself to some new jeans! Roo - sorry chick. Im not sure why its not working. It seems to be working okay for me. Steady 2lb a week off since I started. Perhaps you need to up the superfoods???? Hang in a bit longer, maybe your body will just have a huge drop one week and its just getting used to the plan. Ellie - whats your thoughts on the mint mullers? Im really not that impressed. Thought they would be a lot nicer. Maybe its just me . . . Ham, bean and chip bake - Cat Make some slimming world chips from about 3 good sized potatoes. Part boil and put in oven with frylight for about 15 mins. Take out and then add in a can of beans, can of chopped tomatoes, can of chopped ham - I used ye old oak (jelly all scrapped off) and finally bang in some mushrooms. Mix up everything, return to oven and bake a further 15 mins. Pull out, make some wells, crack in 3 or 4 eggs and return to oven for about another 8 mins or until eggs set. It is scrummy!!!!!! Can also vouch that the chicken casserole in this months mag is delicious too! Hows everyone elses week been? |
Well, I lost 3lb this week so feeling much happier. OH was very proud of me. I met a target lady who said she had slow start too. I am spurred on especially with the recent lovely weather, hope its not freak warmth and keeps up.:carrot:

Thanks for the recipe debsarooni :) that is so not what I expected :lol: it sounds a bit of a mess :rofl: but nevertheless i'm tempted to try it minus the tomatoes :yuck: and mushrooms :shrug: wonder if that would ruin the consistency? it might be too dry eh?

My weigh in was last night and I am happy to report I got my stone award!! Cat - Tweak it. Thats what I do. I try whats in the books and mags and tweak it if it isn't me. As long as you stick to the free food it should be fine. I made the beef cannelonni from this months mag last week and it said carrots and celery. I subbed that for mushrooms and sweetcorn. Still delicious! |

Roo - def stick to it - sometimes it's just about adjusting to a new regime. Also keep a food diary as you may be making a small mistake somewhere and that's the way to find it.
Debs - I love the mint Muellers - freeze them as they make great frozen yogurts. :) Happy to report that after a blip courtey of a mad weekend away, I can report a 1.5lb loss today to take me over the 4.5st marker!! YAY!!!! I still can't believe it when I try on clothes and have to keep getting lower sizes as my mind can't yet comprehend that I'm now a 12-14. My self-confidence has gone screaming through the roof too - not that it could have gone any lower than a year ago! Now - any tips for toning a horribly wobbly tum? :) |

Roobear - Hope you've got over your slow start and it's going well for you. Debsaroonie - well done on that st award! I mix and match recipes too - I come up with some really bizarre combos too. Don't know if anyone has tried it -, but I made the vanilla & cardamon pannacotta in one of the books - it' s lush!! |

Well done, debs - those little milestones are worth their weight in gold! Keep setting them for yourself and you'll find the whole thing much easier than looking at what you want to achieve overall. When I started I sat in group gawping in disbelief at the big losers and thinking I'd never be able to do it. Now here I am just a few lb from target. You can do it :)

Hi ladies, it has been years since I logged in here but I started on SW last week and doing really well so far on it (well sticking to the plan - as far as losing I will have to wait till Monday!) I am loving all the free food and trying out a new recipe each day is fun if not a bit time consuming! look forward to chatting with you all :)

Welcome back, tracy. SW is fab - it's been a real turning point for me and once you get into it is so easy to do. It's pretty much a way of life for me now.
As for this fab weather - break out the salads, ladies! :D I certainly will be after a monster Chinese pig-out last night. I was so looking forward to it but, if truth be told, I didn't really enjoy it that much - a lot of it was just too greasy for me - I'm not used to it any more and it just didn't float my boat! Have to make up for it now so planning a 5-mile power-walking sesh for today as well as 3 days of extra effort pre next wi. GL all and enjoy the weather! |
I am sticking at it but my 1/2 stone award is still evading me, I was so angry when I'd worked hard all week and was half a pound short that I ended up unintentionally having week off and maintained. Thankfully I didn't gain, I felt sure I would've, my bf did despite having a smaller pizza than me and chicken while had sausages when we went out. I WILL get it next week.
My group leaders machine broke last night so she just had to ask us and when she got to me, I just said I'm taking the scenic route. |

Roo your ticker says you have already lost your half stone, did you lose some prior to joining SW? Just had my pasta and salad for lunch and off to clear out the loft now, we are planning to put the house on the market soon so need to get it sorted! |
No for some reason when my bf was converting stones to pounds he rounded it up to the nearest whole number so didn't count the half pound I still need to lose. So although my tracker says 7, I have only lost 6 1/2.

Gah!! Talk about a lesson in how our bodies get used to healthy eating! A few glasses of wine in the sunshine and then a massive pig-out on chips on Wed (oops) and a meal out last night -(Carvery so not too offensive as I stuck to meat, veg and a couple of new potatoes) and I feel like a bloated barrage balloon!
I'm going to go salad crazy for the next 2 days and get in two massive walks to try and reverse this. Red days all the way. Anyone got any quick-fix tips to cure bloat lol. :) Btw - how's this for weird cooking. Thought the roasted parsnips & carrots tasted a bit funny last night...munched my way through them and then realised near the end that they'd sprinkled SUGAR all over them! :0 |

I've done slimming world before, and dropped like 4 pounds in the first week, 2 pounds the next then... nothing. I really struggled! Because I wasn't seeing any results I ended up forgetting about my 5 syns a day. It didn't work, and I gave up completely. 8 months later I'm here, after putting on what I lost! I have seen an acquaintance on facebook lose loads of weight through SW in about 6 weeks, while drinking quite heavily and apparently not exercising. Now I think she's the exception, but I am going to exercise daily hopefully to try and get things going and compensate for my drinking, but do you find your syns are really important? Could that be why I wasn't seeing any results? How many syns do you guys tend to have per day? Thanks, I'd really appreciate your help! x |

I have to admit to being one of those who didn't do loads of exercise and went out and partied a lot and still lost weight. Not huge amounts, mind, but in just over a year I'm 4st 10lb down. I do lots of walking now but that's about it. I do think syns have something to do with it and you need to find your happy medium - I stick to around 10 per day which works for me. I'd seriously recommend keeping a food diary for a few weeks as that really helps - you may well have been making a little mistake somewhere which meant you were actually way over your syns - it's easily done and you wouldn't be the first. I stalled for a while and then discovered that all the sweetcorn and peas I was munching as free foods on a red day were actually not free...oops....as they go into the green day category. :) |

Thanks! I think I'm going to go for the "Easy" diet plan. Maybe if I make sure I eat my syns (which I'm sure won't be a problem) I'll keep losing! :) And hopefully with the exercise it'll speed up the weight loss. :) |

Hola all. I am back.
Had a horrific few weeks. Did my side in, was in agony. Ate crap. Then Easter happened. Ate tons of chocolate. And this week has been social engagement after social engagement. Also haven't managed to get to class for 2 weeks. So I dread to think how much weight I have put on but I am back at class tonight. So time to get back on track. Hows everyone else doing? |

i've officially joined slimming world and lost 6lbs my first week :-) weigh again on wednesday.
apart from the odd slim fast stint i've never followed a diet fad/plan before, i've just tried to eat healthy, so the extra easy plan really suits me and i'm hoping the group support is what helps me stick to it rather than going it alone |
