Apparently not, Cat!!! I went to tell them and they said they do that to improve the flavour! Bizarre or what?

I got it, I finally got my 1/2 stone award, very pleased with myself. It has pride of place at the top of the fridge.

Hi! Well done Roobear for your half stone award! :D

I've done slimming world before, and dropped like 4 pounds in the first week, 2 pounds the next then... nothing. I really struggled! Because I wasn't seeing any results I ended up forgetting about my 5 syns a day. It didn't work, and I gave up completely. 8 months later I'm here, after putting on what I lost! I have seen an acquaintance on facebook lose loads of weight through SW in about 6 weeks, while drinking quite heavily and apparently not exercising. Now I think she's the exception, but I am going to exercise daily hopefully to try and get things going and compensate for my drinking, but do you find your syns are really important? Could that be why I wasn't seeing any results? How many syns do you guys tend to have per day?

Thanks, I'd really appreciate your help! x

Hello CGEC :)

I have to admit to being one of those who didn't do loads of exercise and went out and partied a lot and still lost weight. Not huge amounts, mind, but in just over a year I'm 4st 10lb down. I do lots of walking now but that's about it. I do think syns have something to do with it and you need to find your happy medium - I stick to around 10 per day which works for me.

I'd seriously recommend keeping a food diary for a few weeks as that really helps - you may well have been making a little mistake somewhere which meant you were actually way over your syns - it's easily done and you wouldn't be the first. I stalled for a while and then discovered that all the sweetcorn and peas I was munching as free foods on a red day were actually not free...oops....as they go into the green day category.

:)

Wow Elliemar, well done! 4st 10lb is such an achievement!

Thanks! I think I'm going to go for the "Easy" diet plan. Maybe if I make sure I eat my syns (which I'm sure won't be a problem) I'll keep losing! :) And hopefully with the exercise it'll speed up the weight loss. :)

Funny thing I find is I lose less weight on the weeks that I have less syns. I rarely go over my 15 and often have less than that, but if i add up all my syn for the week I do realise that the weeks I lots more were the weeks I had 10 or more syns per day. I don't go out of my way to find syns and I don't see 15 as a goal, but I do like my biscuits and a little bit of chocolate here and there.

Also what Elliemar said about making a small mistake can take you way over your limit. It's easily done, you must check EVERYTHING in the book and my group leader is always emphasising the point about weighing and measuring, do not guestimate. Things like butter or cheese and sauces are often a lot more syns than you think.

Hola all. I am back.

Had a horrific few weeks. Did my side in, was in agony. Ate crap. Then Easter happened. Ate tons of chocolate. And this week has been social engagement after social engagement. Also haven't managed to get to class for 2 weeks.

So I dread to think how much weight I have put on but I am back at class tonight. So time to get back on track.

Hows everyone else doing?

snookipaige 04-20-2012 12:32 PM

hello :) i really struggled on the slimming world diet! well done to all you managing with it your doing a lot better then i ever did. :congrat:

Elliemar 04-21-2012 11:44 AM

Thx Snooki - it's one of those things though as you need to find what works for you. I can't get on with WW but love SW and it really works for me. :)

i've officially joined slimming world and lost 6lbs my first week :-) weigh again on wednesday.
apart from the odd slim fast stint i've never followed a diet fad/plan before, i've just tried to eat healthy, so the extra easy plan really suits me and i'm hoping the group support is what helps me stick to it rather than going it alone

roobear 04-23-2012 05:54 PM

Welcome side salad, love your avatar. I find my group a big help so I hope it works for you too. The target members are such an inspiration they are always there and they all say look I did it, you can too. The certificates are a great boost at every little milestone, it always spurs me on to get the next one. My bf got his club 10 certificate last week and he was so smug. Good luck.

Elliemar 04-24-2012 06:18 AM

Welcome Sidesalad :) Definitely recommend group - I find it very inspiring and it's also like my conscience every week. I started off by looking in amazement at the target members and wondering if I could ever do it. I'm now one of the biggest losers in my group and find it very motivating when people comment on how well I've done/look and ask for tips. It spurs me on to keep going - kind of like I don't want to let them down by messing up. Maybe sounds daft but that's what it feels like - it's kind of like giving a little back for everything I've got from the group on my journey.

side salad 04-24-2012 01:11 PM

thanx for the warm welcome guys. i'm feeling positive about achieving long term success with sw.
congrats to your bf's club10 roobear - i might be smug (on the inside) too when i get there lol! ;-)
Elliemar i <3 your sentiment for other group members - it doesn't sound daft at all.you help them and they help you stay on track - everyone's a winner! :-D

debsarooni 04-25-2012 01:40 AM

Welcome sidesalad

I love seeing everyone so happy in group too Elliemar. This week one bloke got his 4 stone award. In 13 weeks!!!!!

Happy to report I am back on track after the Easter blip. 7 and a half pounds off this week.

Hows everyone else doing?

p.s anyone tryed the beef ragu in the mag this month. It is lush!

side salad 04-25-2012 05:31 PM

only 1/2 lb but at least it's the right direction.
just bought my first mag today debsarooni so i'll have a look at the beef ragu.
just wondering if you ladies stick to one plan (if so which one?) or if you regularly switch between the three options? does that work well for you if you do?
i've only done extra easy but thinking about switching to original to reduce my wheat/processed carbs intake
