newbie, plateaued - which exercise classes?

  • Hi, so I destroyed my ankle and back, spent most of last year in physio/on crutches/both and came out of it fixed but fat. I lost 22lb so far, with another 18lb to go and now adding proper exercise in to hopefully get over the plateau I have reached. I have joined a gym because
I love exercise classes but there a million to choose from - which get the best results?
  • I am not sure of your fitness level, but when i started i did Step Aerobics and spinning and they were great, i was exhausted after but defn shocked my system and so far have lost 33lb...

Good luck with the one you choose
  • Hey guys

Highly recommend Spinning and Zumba for burning cals. I love both. Aerobics and Step as Galway girl said are really good too. Good luck!
  • I could not get on with spinning, I didn't like the bruised feeling! But its great cardio. Zumba I think is much more fun than Aerobics (imo) and you are exercising while dancing. At the moment I am absolutely loveing Body Combat, so much so i'm making the most of it and go 3 times a week! Again great cardio and i'm noticing muscles in my arms!!!
  • Hi, I've only just joined so not yet filled in my stats, but I've lost 4 stone since the end of Jan with classes and healthy eating. I would recommend doing a mix of cardio and weights, as above step, zumba and body combat are all good cardio classes and I would try to do a couple of Body pump classes or kettlecise a week too. I know a lot of people are scared about doing weight classes but girls can't bulk up and a weights class raises your metabolism for a longer time after doing it than a cardio one. Body pump is also great fun - check out the Les Mills website class information as you can see videos that give you an idea of what they do. Don't be put off by the size of their weights though, you can start small!
