Default confused - any ideas?

Ok, I have been looking around some weight sites and am now totally confused. Some say eat 250 calories less that you were doing and exercise to burn a further 250 calories per day. Yet on others it tells you how many calories to eat to maintain your weight, how many to lose 1lb, how many to lose 2lb. But then it says if you are exercising that you should eat what you burn as well as your daily allowance. I know that those who do ww can exercise to get bonus points and they get to eat more.

Which way is right?? I aim for 1,800 calories per day, and I exercise daily but I don't use the burned calories to eat more. Is this where I am going wrong??

Any advice/view on this gratefully received

Ty Veggie All the info left me confused. I'm sticking to my 1,800 until after christmaw when I should be able to afford to go to a slimming club.
