July in Five
I'm being a bit previous here I know but I am all fired up and in preparation mode.
I have decided to add an exercise tracker and to track the minutes of exercise I do as well as weight loss (theoretically). I was terrified when I saw how many minutes I need to accumulate. 30 mins a day, 5 days a week over 5 weeks! So my pledge for the month is 10lbs and 750 minutes! Stef 224: 224: 214 and 0 Starbuck 250: 250: 240 Good luck this month! honeythorn weight not specified and about 950 minutes if you include that class - welcome to the kick up the bum post |
I pledge to do 45 mins a day 4 days a week. Plus an aerobics class which I used to attend but haven't ben in the right head for, for a few months I need motivation!!!!!!!
|
To be honest, at the moment any exercise other than normal walking is out for me as I'm waiting to see a consultant about having an op on my knee.
However I will pledge to lose 10lbs. Hopefully get to the target this month. |
What about swimming Starbuck? The water will take the weight off your knee, unless the trouble is bending it, in which case swimming wouldn't be much use...
|
I hope you get seen soon Starbuck, knees are horrid things to get around without.
I'm going to rack my ex-aerobic instructor brain and try to think of something fun you could do without knees - that does not involve eating chocolate of course! |

Starbuck, I've just finished my morning exercise and had a thought.
Do you have a resistance band or know someone who has? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Resistance-B...7708535&sr=8-3 These are cheap and will last you for ages (years). You can use them to exercise all of your upper body, seated or standing. I used to teach using them in classes about 10 times a week, so I could easily talk you through some nice exercises. I could start a new thread with piccies and everything! I wouldn't mind as I have just bought 2 rolls of the things for using in the classroom from September and I will need to brush up my explanations :^: |
Thanks Stef, I do have a resistance band that came with one of my Wii fit games. Can I use these http://s2.hubimg.com/u/1111773_f260.jpg?
It'd be great to have some exercises to do as I feel like a right slob not doing anything. Even just normal walking around hurts, so it's not as if I can go and do a brisk walk for exercise. Pic's and stuff would be amazing, I need all the help I can get. |
Sorry, I didn't check your link Starbuck!
Those bands are perfect!! They give you the greatest range of exercises and are dead easy to use. I shall sit down and write up a routine and have a look for piccies. Would it be OK to start a new post, so I can keep it all in one place (and not bore everyone cluttering up the monthly weigh in)?? |
I've done the first of my sessions today, I really had to make myself go but I did it, and actually did an hour in there instead of 45 mins ( plus the half hour walk to and from the gym ) ^___^ I'll set 45 mins as my minimum per session I think.
|
annoyed with myself because I had a chinese last night. It was hubby's birthday and he wanted one, but still regretting it.
It was nice though :) |
Starbuck, don't let regret spoil the taste - that was the last Chinese meal you'll have for at least a year!
Unless your hubby is like the Queen and has 2 birthdays a year! There, bottom : foot : connected! |
Well it is my birthday Sunday, so possibly more food blow outs oncoming
|
No chance a curly endive and lambs lettuce salad will suffice?
Don't panic, I'm off for my 21st wedding anniversay in a couple of weeks and I'm damned if I diet properly whilst we are celebrating it! Mmmmm! Forgot about that when I set my target :o Ah well! |
congrats on the 21 years together. It was my 10 year in April and I thought that was a long time!
|
Hi, I'd like to join you ladies in this challenge :) Been a month or so without a 3FC challenge, and I so need to get back into one!
So I aim to lose 7lb this month and do body combat twice a week and one weights session and one cardio session. Been so lazy with weights but I've got 6 weeks until I go on holiday so it's time to get a bit more dedicated :) P.S. I'll add a SW tomorrow as I weigh in on Sundays. |
Thanks Starbuck, I'm not quite sure how we managed that many years, it has all flown by so quickly!
Sanna Maria, I shall add you in tomorrow. I'm guesstimating your goals to be 7lbs from 152lbs and 4 hours a week exercise, so 960minutes for the next 4 weeks. Let me know if you want to change any of the numbers. I'm actually looking foward to weighing tomorrow, I feel quite virtuous and less, erm, frumpy, dumpy and heavy ! I've managed to stay off the scales all week...... fingers crossed x |
Well i've not done well this week and am up 3lbs!!!:o
Oh and it's my birthday today so probably more bad eatings to come. Gonna have to work pretty hard next week to make up for this one. |
Week 1
I have decided to add an exercise tracker and to track the minutes of exercise I do as well as weight loss. So my pledge for the month is 10lbs and 750 minutes! I'm guessing that July and August will be quiet here, all those holidays, kids off school make it difficult to concentrate! But I am determined to lose weight for September. I have a 'slim' chance of promotion, so I want to look good and feel good, just in case! Stef 224: 221: 214 and 60: 3lbs down but not enough exercise - bad me! Starbuck 250: 253: 240 Enjoy your birthday, hun, then get back on the wagon! honeythorn weight not specified and about 950 minutes if you include that class - welcome to the kick up the bum post Sanna Maria 152: 152: 145 and 960mins welcome in :) cat90 198: 198: 190 and 600mins (adjusted for 4 weeks if that's OK?) IsabelleLuke 900mins of cardio. Do you want to pledge some pounds too? hopefulchick 136: 136: 133 Hi! So close.... fingers crossed we can party hard at the end of the month (calorie free Starbuck!) |
Can I join in :?: My goal is the same as yours Stef :) don't want to go gungho right from the start  will start with baby steps ;)
|
Same weight and same exercise minutes Cathy? No problem! I'll change it if that's not what you meant!
I noticed you looking at the other challenge thread - I agree that the OPs goals were scary. So I resisted the temptation and slunk back here! |
I pledge to do at least 45 mins of cardio 5 days a week.
|
Well done on the 3lbs Stef, thats great! Wish I hadn't gone the other way though:( Hey it's my birthday:D
|
Hey,
I'd like to join please! 136/136/133 Hope to make goal this month. Good luck! |
Stef, thanks for adding me! :)
So excited to be part of this challenge, I think I'll make myself a little exercise ticker to keep track of the minutes right now so I won't forget. Have a good week everyone!!! |
Question: does sanding down my kitchen worktops count as exercise?
I'm using a little electric sander, so it's not that hard, but I am moving more than I usually would! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Perhaps I'll count it as ironing, similar motion! So no! No exercise minutes there! Ah well! |
Hello All!
How has your week been? I've done body combat and half an hour of jogging this week and going to do some more jogging and weights today. Weighing in at 151.7 this morning so not a big loss this week. Foodwise I've not been good at all, not been overeating but I haven't really planned my meals and lunches to take to work, so this coming week I'll improve on that. |
Back down to my ticker weight, thankfully lost that 3lbs of takeway weight.
Also going to see a consultant this week about my joint problems, so he may give ,e something to feel better and i'll be able to get back to healthy eating rather than comfort food. |
Hi Ladies
Yes Stef I did mean same exercise and weightloss goals :) although i'm not off to a good start as i've been ill for the past month :( but today I feel better so I'll rack up some exercise minutes :D i'm going to resist weighing in until the end of the month so I don't get paranoid about it :dizzy: I'll be happy with anything ;) |
Week 2
Sorry. Other half injured his elbow which has thrown me off track this week. I'm down a whole pound and up another 60 mins of exercise - not quite sure how! Stef 224: 220: 213 and 120: 4lbs down but still not enough exercise - bad me! Starbuck 250: 250: 240 Good luck with the doctor. Mine has very kindly given me more sleeping pills to see if I can get back into a good sleep routine. Hopefully I won't wake up shattered and not wanting to exercise! honeythorn weight not specified and about 950 minutes if you include that class - welcome to the kick up the bum post Sanna Maria 152: 151.7: 145 and 90/960mins welcome in :) cat90 198: 198: 190 and 600mins (adjusted for 4 weeks if that's OK?) IsabelleLuke 900mins of cardio. Do you want to pledge some pounds too? hopefulchick 136: 136: 133 Hi! So close.... fingers crossed we can party hard at the end of the month |
Week 3
Hello! Is there anyone out there? :D I just knew July and Augist would be really quiet! I'm down another whole pound but no exercise minutes this week :?: Stef 224: 219: 213 and 120: 5lbs down and I must get my bum into gear - exercise gear! Starbuck 250: 250: 240 Good luck with the doctor. Mine has very kindly given me more sleeping pills to see if I can get back into a good sleep routine. Hopefully I won't wake up shattered and not wanting to exercise! honeythorn weight not specified and about 950 minutes if you include that class - welcome to the kick up the bum post Sanna Maria 152: 151.7: 145 and 90/960mins welcome in :) cat90 198: 198: 190 and 600mins (adjusted for 4 weeks if that's OK?) So close.... fingers crossed we can party hard at the end of the month Come on, we all seem to need a lift and cakes at my house probably isn't the way to do it! So I'm setting myself a silly target: My Smilie Target is :belly: plus :running: plus http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/smile...mileys-365.gif will hopefully get me losing more regularly! |
Hello there
I'm back after the fastest re-gain in the history of the world. This time last year I was 242lbs by March I was 143lbs, a UK size 8/10. I gave up smoking and now I'm at 191lbs which is bad but not as bad as the 202lbs I was two weeks ago. I'm very optimistically hoping for 185lbs by the 31st and I'm committing to coming in and saying something, anything everyday, in the hope that it will keep me on track. |
Hi Trudiha,
I shall add you on Sunday! Welcome in and good luck! I think I am down another pound this week. Which leaves me 5lb short of target with a holiday week to go! :?: Why I set 11lbs I don't know. If I can't subtract 10 without making a mistake what chance do I have?? I'm off to Cornwall next week! No cream teas, honest! I'm hoping we will walk a lot and eat sensible food - all that fish/seafood, surely I can lose whilst I am there??!!?? I will... I will...I will... I will...I will... I will...I will... I will...I will... I will...I will... I will...:^: |
Oooooooooooooooo! That was post number 666...... I'm scared!
|
Week 4
1 week to go!!!! I am indeed down 1 more pound, no exercise though, I have felt horrible! Stef 224: 218: 213 and 120: 6lbs down and on holiday all week! :?: Starbuck 250: 250: 240 Good luck with the doctor. Mine has very kindly given me more sleeping pills to see if I can get back into a good sleep routine. Hopefully I won't wake up shattered and not wanting to exercise! honeythorn weight not specified and about 950 minutes if you include that class - welcome to the kick up the bum post Sanna Maria 152: 151.7: 145 and 90/960mins welcome in :) cat90 198: 198: 190 and 600mins (adjusted for 4 weeks if that's OK?) So close.... fingers crossed we can party hard at the end of the month trudiha 191: 185: 185 have a good week hun! Just one week to go. And I bet August will be totally silent! Hi, hope you're all doing well :)
I've not been updating as I've been crazy busy, but am now back on here and am now at 148.6. Not worked out the exercise minutes, but I'll update that tomorrow once I've calculated them. Edit. Minutes updated |
Hey Ladies,
Hope everyone is doin well, just a quick hello - I am still up and down a little but pretty much ,maintaining as per my stats - I gave up smoking nearly 4 weeks ago, so have been a bit more on the high side plus a couple of lbs, and working to get a few off now, but all well and I am still in the healthy ball park!! Best of luck to you all x |
Well done Ellie, you're an inspiration.
I'm 185.2 and delighted with myself. |
Week 5
Come on ladies - fess up! Last weigh in for July! I am up 1lb, not too bad I suppose, having enjoyed lots of food on holiday. Sadly I feel awful and am now worrying about my blood test results (in the morning) Stef 224: 219: 213 and 120: Up 1 this week, down 5 overall. exercise was a bit of a washout. I'll give myself a 5/10 could do better! Starbuck 250: 250: 240 Good luck with the doctor. Mine has very kindly given me more sleeping pills to see if I can get back into a good sleep routine. Hopefully I won't wake up shattered and not wanting to exercise! honeythorn weight not specified and about 950 minutes if you include that class - welcome to the kick up the bum post Sanna Maria 152: 147: another 50%er! Next month..... cat90 198: 192: 190 and all 600 mins! So very very close to perfect! IsabelleLuke 900mins of cardio. Do you want to pledge some pounds too? hopefulchick 136: 136: 133 Hi! So close.... fingers crossed we can party hard at the end of the month trudiha 191: 185: 185 Well maintained! And we need an August thread..... |
Hi All! :)
EllieR, went to see your pictures from the link in your signature and WOW. You look great! Well done!! Trudiha, well done for the 6lbs! :) Stef, hope you don't have to worry for much longer and hope you feel better soon!! I'm now at 147 and started at 152 so 4lb loss, but I was aiming for 7. Did half of the exercise minutes I was aiming for too. Still it's better than the last 3 weeks before when I wasn't in any kind of challenge, so definitely in for an August challenge as well. |
