Make Good In May

Hello Fat Chicks

Welcome this this month's making skinny* thread, my name is Trudi and I'll be your hostess this month. If you need anything please press the bell above your heads and I'll be happy do what I can for you, within reason, there won't be any ironing or babysitting, I have to draw the line somewhere.

I will be requiring a start weight, goal weight, a current weight and probably a little help with the arithmetic to determine exactly how much you've lost.

Best of luck to all of you

Trudi

*Someone told me recently that skinny is derived from the Swahili word for 'poor' but it might not be true, he wasn't all that reliable. ;)

Grace of God 04-30-2010 08:05 PM

I'm so impressed with your weight loss achievement. It's good to see someone do it. I need to lose half my body weight and get easily discouraged at the task ahead of me. Congratulations.

alibalibee66 05-01-2010 04:36 AM

Hi, just starting out. I would like to join this months challenge & set myself a goal to lose 5 pounds this month. My sw is 148 so would like to get down to 143 by the end of the month. Is that all the info I need to give?

going2Bhealthy 05-01-2010 07:14 AM

I'm excited about the prospect of meeting my challenge this month ( I was so close last month) so I'm going to be extra, extra good and aim for another 8lbs in May.

SW: 185lbs
GW: 177lbs

Good Luck everyone :D :cb: :broc: :carrot:

Ellie R 05-02-2010 12:30 PM

Hey Guys,

And thanks Trudi for doing the May round up!

I am hovering very close to goal, I got there last month and below, but messed it up, so this month it just has to happen!!

CW / SW: 160
GW: 158 (well really I'd like my old goal of 154, but lets see how I go!!)

Best of luck gals

lora m 05-02-2010 02:14 PM

I have been quite bad for a few days. So I don't know how well I'm going to do with next Wednesday's WI, but I'll go for the same goal as last month, and aim for 4lbs.

SW/CW 177
GW 173

I'm nearing the goal I set myself now, which was BMI 25. However I've realised that since I weigh-in first thing in the morning, it would be a good idea to go for at least a couple of pounds lower than that to allow for fluid gain. I'd like to be able to go back to a Weightwatchers meeting after years away and present my gold card and actually be in gold range again.

diamondpony 05-04-2010 05:16 AM

My first post! I really have to lose weight for the summer (preferably before the end of July when I'm going on hols).

SW: 160lbs
GW: 147lbs

13lbs is alot to lose in a month but this is all weight I put on since Christmas so hopefully if I work hard I can at least get back to my pre-Christmas weight this month.

Do we update weekly with our current weight or just at the end of the month?

going2Bhealthy 05-04-2010 11:04 AM

Ok, so my official weigh in day is Tuesday, so I'm reporting here that I've evened out my weight to 184 as of today, so that's a lb down (well, .6 of a lb if truth be told, but I always round up for weigh ins) since the 1st w00!

SW: 185
CW: 184

Trudiha 05-04-2010 02:19 PM

Hello Everyone

Welcome Alibalibee & diamondpony I won't wish you luck, it takes more than luck but I wish you both as much commitment as you need.

Well done going2behealthy, you are making excellent progress!

Ellie, you're an inspiration to all of us, I hope you get what you need this month.

dayoneagain 05-05-2010 05:19 AM

CW: 192
GW: 184

This is going to be seriously tough. not sure if the weight will come off this month as I've just picked up strength training and have heard it can upset the number on the scale.

But I'm gonna see how it goes!

hopefulchick 05-05-2010 06:07 AM

Yeah I hear you...that ww meeting would be sweet!
I am very much same as you re the goal...mine was 154, but have changed to 158...BUT that 158 is my max weight for wiggle rom (In my head anyway) i think you need the wiggle room otherwise you will be always trying to lose those last coupl of pounds, and it is mentally very draining.... well done to you!

Thanks. Because my weight chart looks like a stair with lots of bumps along the way, I am expecting to fluctuate a couple of lbs over the course of a month even if I am spot on with my maintenance calories. So having a bit of wiggle space then a hard line I don't want to cross seems like a good plan. It's funny how the last few lbs can seem harder to lose. Hope you get there soon!

This week, CW is 177, so I've stayed the same.

alibalibee66 05-08-2010 08:59 AM

Hi all, have weighed in & lost 2pounds this week.

Make good in May - SW148/CW146/GW143

:) :)

hopefulchick 05-09-2010 12:54 PM

Hello,
How is everyone doing?
I am down 3lbs this week -
May SW 147 CW 144 GW140

Good luck everyone - think of our summer bodies just around the corner! x

cat90 05-09-2010 02:31 PM

H-E-L-P  scale is seriously going in the wrong direction :bomb: I've never been so heavy in my entire life  was 50lbs lighter when pregnant  its no laughing matter though i've got to do something soon  but don't have an ounce of motivation  you'd think having hardly any clothes left that fit me would do it but no  don't know what will snap me out of this. Any ideas?

Ellie R 05-10-2010 03:11 AM

Hey Guys,

2lbs down to the 158 (well actually scales said 156 -but I had a pretty wild weekend, and reckon I am just dehydrated, so will stick to the 158!)
I think I'll change my goal weight for the month back to 154, fingers crossed

going2Bhealthy 05-11-2010 02:37 PM

Woo, well done Ellie!
I dropped another lb this week, weighed in at 182.8, so technically less than a lb until I've lost 2 stone (which means reward :D) and I'm officially only overweight, not obese, which is FAB!

Ellie R 05-11-2010 03:13 PM

Yay - -well done to you too - thats a big milestone!!

lora m 05-12-2010 06:25 AM

Going2bhealthy, that's such a good feeling changing category. Well done!

Cat90, I know how difficult it is as I didn't get my motivation back for 9 years (and regained 50lb during that time). It was a health scare that put a rocket under me. Even though it turned out to be unfounded. it was enough to get me in the mindset where I was motivated, because I didn't want to feel so unfit now or in the future. If you can commit to anything that will be a start, but don't put it off to 'soon', why not do it now? I think not wanting to go up another size is quite a good motivation in itself.

I am changing my 'official' weigh-in day to Thursday, as that's the day I have WW meetings in my area. So far I've lost a lb so I'll have to behave myself today and hope for the same or better tomorrow.

lora m 05-13-2010 05:56 AM

OK, here's my WI result. It's the same as yesterday's sneaky-peek so I have lost 1lb since the week before. :)
SW 177
CW 176
GW 173

cat90 05-13-2010 07:52 PM

Thanks lora m :) you're right of course think i'll go on my treadmill for half an hour ;) Congrats on your weightloss so far :cheer:

cat90 05-13-2010 07:54 PM

Oops just saw you're almost at goal :cheer: :cheer: WELL DONE !!!!!!!

Ellie R 05-14-2010 02:13 AM

Should someone do a little round up of results to keep us all motivated????

alibalibee66 05-15-2010 04:19 AM

Back up to 148 this week. So right back where I started. HELP!!!! :?:

SW148/CW148/GW143:?:

So still have 5pounds to lose but just 2 weeks to do it in now. :(

hopefulchick 05-17-2010 12:14 PM

Hello Everyone!

Don't panic alibalibee! The best thing is to just keep going - you know it is! You don't need to beat yourself up about this or you will only end up sabotaging yourself and falling off the wagon completely - i kno i've done it! Our weight fluctuates day by day anyway so don't focus too much one one reading.
It will just be a blip!
Hang on in there.

Down 2lbs this week

Thanks for doing the round-up Ellie!

OK, here's the result from today's WI *drum roll*
SW 177
CW 174
GW 173

So I've lost 2lb and am now just into the normal BMI category. 12st 6 is also the number written on my old WW gold card, although given that I WI first thing in the morning at home, I probably weigh a couple of pounds higher at a meeting.

The funny thing was that I decided at the weekend (after exceeding my daily points yet again) that enough was enough, and I would go on maintainance at the end of the month even if I hadn't yet reached 174. I have been very disciplined about counting points and exercise ever since, so the short timeframe must have focused my mind.

It's strange, I thought I'd be more excited than this: I'm not sure it's sunk in yet. I'd better go and have some more coffee... :)

Oh that is fantastic - well done...be very proud of yourself.... :carrot:

I know what you mean about the excitement...when you have been so goal orientated it can feel a bit deflating when you actually get there, so it's worth setting a different target now, like for example, (as well as trying to shift those last couple of lbs because despute all my good intentions I still really want the 154).....I have set a body fat % goal for myself, that might be something you would consider to keep focused, and to get excited about???

But hopefully that cup of coffee gee'd you up and you are realising what an amazing achievement has been reached today!!!

lora m 05-20-2010 06:22 AM

Thanks Ellie! My main goal in the longer term (give or take a couple of lbs) is to really work on consistency with the exercise. I was never a regular exerciser in the past and it's only been during the last 9 months that I've really tried to address that. Health and fitness issues motivated me to start losing weight in the first place, this time. Mostly I've succeeded with the exercise, save for a few off-days and a couple of off-weeks, but I'm always aware I might fall back into old sedentary ways.

I am starting to build up short periods of running along with the walking, but my knees (which got knackered in my 20s, and I'm 46 now) don't entirely agree with this plan! I'm hoping if I'm careful and build up very slowly they'll be all right though. I would love to become one of those fit people that I see running the whole way around what is quite a large park...

Starbuck 05-21-2010 03:17 AM

Hi, It's me i'm back again to give this another try again!

I know it's late on into the month, but can I join in. I do my first new start weigh in tomorrow morning.

I've just been diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis and am having terrible problems with my knees, so I really need to get the weight off asap!

I've also decided to adopt the Vegan diet, so that's taking a bit of getting used too.

Hope you all don't mind me gatecrashing your thread, I really need the support at the minute.

sarahgrace 05-21-2010 12:48 PM

i've lost 3.5 lbs so far :)

Starbuck 05-22-2010 04:33 AM

Well I lost 5.5lbs this week, so i'm pleased. Although I know it wont last as it was my first week
