  • Weigh in day again and maintained again. The only pounds I'm losing are the ones out of my purse. The club leader has suggested that I have a week of green days to see if that will get me on the losing track again. I wouldn't mind but again I can put my hand on my heart and say that I haven't cheated. I can't help feeling that I'm eating too much even though i@m eating according to the rules. She's looked at my food plan and can't understand why I'm sticking. Help!!!
  • hi mavis.

im exactly the same when it comes to the feeling like ive eaten too much thing. i havnt actually stuck to it for 2 weeks but am back on track again, but bacause you can actually eat quite a bit on this diet, it feels like i am eating too much!! and i feel bad bout it. yesterday i had pork with veg and no potatoes and cos i had loads n loads of veg, i feel like i ate too much. yes, veg!! now come on, how SAD IS THAT?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

neway, keep persisting and dont give up. it will soon start falling off. especially as you are doing everything right. maybe your body just feels it needs to catch up a bit with the change in diet. keep it going. you seem strong, so keep strong. take care and spk 2 u swn.

  • I had a bit of a duff week last week. Just felt a bit blah. I wasn't really interested v. much in dieting and didn't go to the gym, had a takeaway and too much booze. Anyway, I can't have been as 'bad' as I thought as I have been back on track all this week and the scales show a loss - phew.

Mavis, do you eat a lot of fruit? i know that it is free but we had one lady who was eating 4 banannas a day and was stuck on a plateau. She changed to one bananna and some apples and got things going again.

People are starting to notice now and that is great - a real motivator. I just really need to avoid booze at the weekend or find a way to save sins just for Friday nights.

    Ho hum. TTYL
  • AnnaD re: Bananas

A lady in my group thinks Bananas are a no no too. I only eat about 2 a day and then not every day.
  • Hi Peacock!

It's funny how some foods just have a bad affect on some people and other people can eat them all day long!

I can remember when fruit was NOT free so I find it hard to let go of that mentality. I love this plan but I have a small frame and have to be quite strict with myself about portion sizes. I know that today for example, I could theoretically eat as many banannas and pasta as I like - If I did that though I would simply not lose any weight. I have really decent portions, as much as my dh but try to fill my plate with some free veg especially ss veg. So far that is generally working for me.

I know that in the beginning I took the eat as much pasta/rice/tatties thing a bit too literally!
  • Easily done AnnaD! I have to stick to reen days really as I am veggie. This is the best diet I have been on as I not used to being able to stuff myself with potatoes, rice and pasta. Great!

In all other diets you can only have about 1-2oz which is nothing!
  • Yes Yes Yes
I lost 4lbs making a total of 15 in 7 weeks so I am feeling a bit more cheerful. I do eat a lot of fruit especially bananas and grapes which in the back of my mind I regard as no nos. I eat 2 bananas and 4 ryvitas every morning for breakfast. I always used to eat Oatso Simple porridge but according to my book it is 7 sins so I swapped. what do you think?
Plus what do you think about cous cous? My work colleague who persuaded me to try Slimming World told me to buy some which I did "Lemon & Coriander", when I looked it up in my book it is free on a green day but 100gms is 17 sins on a red day. Its big differences like this that I can't get my head round, especially as you can eat meat on a green day if you count it as a healthy extra or count it in your sins. As my husband so charmingly puts it , " It all goes down the same hole. "
  • Hi Cherry Coke

To answer your question about Cous Cous I guess it really depends if you want to stick to red or green days. If you like COus cous it may be better to decide to go green for the day, then as you say you can have meat as a halthy option should you really want to eat meat on that day.

Some people cannot get on with red days at all (I have no choice being veggie! I have to go green!). SOme prefer red as cannot get their head around how much rice, pasta and spuds they can eat. I guess the reds get frustrated that you cannot eat meat and pasta/rice together. So much of our food - how we are used to eating it has had to change.

As I say try a green day once in a while if you want cous cous - maybe have it for lunch with prawns or a bit of chicken as healthy extra.
  • I love cous cous!! Just about every flavour you can buy, not keenon the plain stuff though!!
  • Thanks for your input Peacock and TQ. I haven't been brave enough yet to try the cous cous though I do seem to have mostly green days now. I usually eat chicken or tuna as a healthy option on 3 days but I eat very little rice or pasta, mostly fruit and veg with some gravy as a sin. I maintained again last week and lost 1 pound this week making 16 pounds in 9 weeks which seem slow to me. I know the slower the better but I am 16st 8lbs and only 4ft 11.5ins tall so there is a lot to go at. I sometimes feel I am climbing Everest backwards. Plus I had to go to hospital last week for one of those awful gynea things (I'm coming back as a man) Anyhow I was so tensed up they couldn't do what they wanted, whats the reaction, "Normally we would put you under to do the proceedure but because of your weight etc etc etc!!!" Since April 2001 I have lost nearly 4 stone but remarks like that really bring it back how big I still am.
  • You are getting there, don't let their ignorance get you down, one day at a time or in my case, one meal at a time!!
  • Well I have only put on half a pound. So I am now 13/3.5. I know why I put on weight. I have been comfort eating chocolate. Well it will soon come off again. I do hope to lose more before Christmas and I am determind to.
  • Lost 3 lbs this week after maintaining last week so I'm quite chuffed about it all. Thats 19lbs in 11 weeks, so it gives me incentive to keep trying.
  • Well done cherry!

I sometimes think that we should only weigh in once a fortnight rather than once a week. Its so easy to see no weight loss over once week if you're a little bloated or something which is very demoralising. If you have lost weight over a fortnight, I think its less likely that the scales will be fooled by anthing like that.

But then, if we go off the rails we need to stop that as soon as possible, and wouldn't it be easy to ignore the first week of dieting if we only weighed every two weeks! Might be a bit of a disaster.
  • I went Christmas shopping today and ended up buying myself a coat but the greatest news of all it was a size 20. I can't remember the last time I bought a 20. If I'm honest I have to admit its a generous fit though it was from Evans and I don't always find them generous, still the label says 20 so I am one happy bunny.
